I did this exact experiment. Being a coffee lover and someone who likes espresso, I tried all the cheaper espresso brands. My conclusion, Cafe La Llave all the way. I found it MUCH better than the others.
Bustelo all the way
I'm thinking you cannot go wrong with either of these... Have one of each in the pantry and enjoy the coffee.
Pilon hands when we're splurging Pilon Gourmet.
1) La Llave
2) Bustelo
I use an Expresso Machine on these coffee's .
Bustelo is darker and more bitter but when you add sugar to the shot it taste like chocolate- Pretty good.
La LLave taste smoother and requires less sugar but lacks that chocolate depth- I Use it for that reason.
Bustelo is easier to find and cheaper so that makes it a good choice.
If I did the math correctly then La Llave is cheaper than Bustelo. A 10 oz brick of Bustelo is $3-$4 and I got three 16 oz bricks of La Llave for $10, which is $3.33 for a 16 oz brick. Basically you get 6 more ounces with Llave for the same price. That's 60% cheaper which is quite a lot
La Llave is cheaper for a reason, Bustelo is the best.

Been a Cafe Bustelo drinker for years but ordered Llave because of the price and great reviews on Amazon. I gotta say it tastes better than Bustelo hands down and also smoother and less bitter. I got myself a new go-to.
La llave for me!
I've only tried pilón gourmet and I love it! But haven't tried the other 2 yet. I do know pilón and café bustelo is owned by the same company which is JM smucker

I like Bustelo. I'll try the other dos at a later date.
Cafe La Llave is my preferred of the three, but all of them are good when you are making a nice espresso.

Thank you for doing this! I was just looking at these three brands (have not tried any of them). After watching this, I will try the classic bustelo as my first purchase! I will eventually try all of them haha

Def try all 3. I preferred pilon as a coffee. But everyone fully hyped with bustello at first
Bustelo is better out a drip coffee maker. That's my secret stash work coffee. La Llave is surprisingly good out of a French press.
Buy a good burr grinder and whole beans. Otherwise, Lavazza espresso is great in a moka pot.

There all good they all have different great bold flavors but you have to remember some people like stronger bolder taste while others prefer a bold with a hint of sweetness

I switched from bustelo to la llave and never looked back

Café Cachita is my go to drink, but be warned I swear that stuff is twice as potent as any of these three in the caffeine department.

@@garden0fstone736 I originally found it at a salvage store. After that, I just started buying it off amazon since I didn't have luck finding it again in physical stores. It's rather pricey at 10 bucks a bag, but totally worth it in my opinion.

We use la llave in our house. My parents switched from those other 2 brands to la llave as well. Enjoy your favorite brand! Buen provecho
Just tried Llave for the first time after drinking nothing but Bustelo for 7 years. Llave is smoother and less bitter with a more rounded flavor. Im really enjoying it on this Christmas morning 🙂

I used to love Café Bustelo, but some years ago Bustelo was sold to a GRINGO roasting company and the mass produced flavor has never been the same!
LOVE La Llave capsules in my Nespresso machine! Perfect espresso and crema every time.
I’m definitely a La Llave guy.
Bustelo used to be good I guess after mass producing a lot of coffee now it lost his touch Pilon by far 🔥
