    Oh I love it when we get all 3 of the fuzz-babies. You look so happy in your pirate outfit.

      Thank you! We're up to 5 fur babies now! Not sure if I will ever get all of them in one video!

    I feel your pain unlocking French seams is a project in itself. I have a cute dress that I thrifted that is a smidge tighter than I like. I bought it anyway because I assumed I could just open the seam a bit, it's entirely finished in French seams! It's still in my repair pile.
    I love pirate pants!

      Thank you! French seams are so nice, but such a pain to fix or alter!

    I’m personally not a pants wearing person, but I think they’re super cute on you!!!

    Pirate pants are becoming popular as they keep popping up on my "recommended for you" section. Must be the season 😆
    Yep I'll be making some. Look super cute and comfy. And we are nearly the same size. So id they fit you the might fit me with little to no additions :)

    The gathering method you used in this video is my favorite way to gather. I use gimp cord which is a bit heavier than thread. Once the gathers are correct and stitched in place, I’m able to pull out the cord and reuse it. Nice job on the pants and they do look comfortable. I struggle to wear pants with zippers and snaps after quarantine. Love elastic waistbands!

      I will try this method again with a stronger cord. The pants are really comfortable!

    I have been looking at these for a while now... Is this video like a sign? Surely it must be.

    They are so cute, great job! I too hate sewing pants, not good at it. I use jute twine and widest zig-zag stitch to due my gathering.

    Yes,I am going to make some pirate pants. They look like fun. I've already made a full Captain Morgan -ish costume, but I didn't like the pants. You look great in your full costume. I hope mine will turn out as well as yours ❤

    If anyone decides they don't want elastic in their hems, they can leave them with out for wide legs. I have tall boots I tuck mine into for pirate looks and not having tight bands at the bottom helps. Plus then they make good pajamas.

    RIP that first french seam!

    I love French seams but omg it’s a long road to backtrack when you have to rip it out!
    I somehow did a side seam on a skirt but managed to put the two edges of the back piece together. (I plead late night sewing as my only excuse.) I admit I just walked away from that one! It’s an Independence Day fabric, so I hope to rip it out and finally finish it for this year.
    You ripped that sucker out immediately, so you get ALL the points :)

      Such a pain! Thank you!

    • @armedvsokord
      @armedvsokord Před 3 měsíci +1

      If it's a loose enough garment you might get away with just trimming the seam away rather than unpicking it. I know for me if it was an edge seam on these pants or something else with similar ease I'd just cut it off. You'll lose a bit of the gathers maybe but for me if it's the difference in finishing and not it's with it.

      @@armedvsokord You are a genius! Why did that not occur to me? That would be SO much less aggravating! I have enough extra fabric to cut 2 more pocket pieces (yes, I fully constructed an attached pocket without noticing my error- it was late at night, but, how did I not notice????). So I can just cut it up without trying to salvage the pocket! (A salvaged pocket would be a lot smaller, and I am not here for small pockets!)
      Thank you for the suggestion!

    • @armedvsokord
      @armedvsokord Před 3 měsíci

      @@Alluvial. Happy to help. If there are pockets, and I don't have enough material, I might consider unpicking just the pocket section, but generally I don't care about having matching pockets. If I have to cut it out of something else I will. Often they are intentionally made of something else. I don't like ironing my pockets in my linen and don't like the feeling of crinkled pockets against my skin so I make the pockets in cotton or some other scrap that doesn't wrinkle in the wash. No one's ever mentioned negatively that my pockets didn't match and some like the fun contrast colors I've come up with. Enjoy the pocket freedom of expression. 😆
