Airline Passenger With First Class Ticket Says She Was Bumped for Congresswoman

- The airline passenger who says she was bumped from her seat to make room for a congresswoman is giving her side of the story. Teacher Jean-Marie Simon says she booked a first class seat on a flight from Houston to Washington, D.C. She showed Inside Edition a boarding pass that read “First Class, Seat 1A.” But when she went to board, a United gate agent told her, “You've been wiped from the system, I can't even find your reservation,” Simon told Inside Edition. #InsideEdition

I am so glad she said she had no issue with the congresswoman. What embarrasses me is the fact that the congresswoman immediately went on the defensive and brought race into the picture, which in my estimation is a simplistic and childish thing to do. She’s an embarrassment to our people.
I love it that social media exposes these kind of actions, people and companies. In the past people did not have a platform to call this actions out. Now bullies have to think twice before trying these kind of tricks.
That was the worse race card I've ever seen. She just said, "I took this paying customer's seat, but the only reason she is upset is because she is racist"
Seriously! This congresswoman should have known this incident did not call for the race card at all and, in fact, bringing in her race would only make HER and the entire African American community look bad. I you must use the race card, you need to pick your battles...
Agreed 100% but she probably didn’t have anything to do with this, as in someone else, like a flight attendant or an airline official did this.
She should've just said she didn't know and apologize for it or take responsibility if she does know
I'm black and I agree with you. This has nothing to do with race.

We need a name, because I see that pulled on people of color too often. You apparently just ignored the quote at 1:00 and so did the Inside Edition person. He misquoted her at about 1:20. She said, upon reflection, she could only conclude it was probably about race, because she couldn't figure out why she was so hostile towards her.
Be fair - anyone in her shoes would think that.
I can't believe she pulled the black card. It had nothing to do with race. If she had said that "I wasn't aware that as I purchased a flight ticket someone else would be bumped down, I would have refused the seat". She could've done something considering she's a person with public office. But no, she wanted simpathy and pulled the black card. Shame on you!

@Mariah Lee Honestly I would’ve done the exact same thing, imagine paying for a first class ticket and then being forced to give it up to someone who is in a higher position than you. If the congresswomen didn’t use her position and power to get that seat she would’ve given the seat up when she knew it’s for someone else but she didn’t and instead she made herself the victim and made the situation into a race thing. That photo supported the teachers argument.
Totally agree. I’m an advocate for racial equality but I also believe the race card is often thrown around a lot. We live in a capitalist society where you should be able to get what you paid for, but in this case she got less

This obviously wasn’t about race. A woman was removed from her 1st class seat for a congresswoman, that’s the issue. It seems suspicious that the congresswoman attempted to turn this into a race issue, because that makes it seem like she did have something to do with this woman losing her seat and she tried to cover it up with the subject of racial discrimination. I mean seriously, she is a congresswomen, we can not give her the benefit of being that stupid, she knew exactly what she was doing there.
I can see that but then again I wonder if the teacher would have shamed a different person. Especially if it wasn't a political figure. The anger should be placed toward the airline for making the decision to do it rather than the person who got the seat. Imo.
@@julieryan8116 It's not the Congresswoman fault imo. Why would she apologize for the mistake of the airline? She didn't delete the woman from their system. Someone working for the airline did that. probably did it by mistake when booting the teacher to a lower class seat. Still these sort of things happen all the time. Its not the person who got the seat fault 🙄 but the airline who allowed it. After the airline realised the error they could have made the correction and given the congresswoman a lower class seat or booked her a different flight but because she is a political figure they valued her good favor over some random woman. Its the airline fault. The congresswoman probably has thousands of air mileage over the teacher. What I said was the congress woman, if she had an ounce of class, would/should/could have taken the coach seat when she found out United had screwed over a legitimate customer that had a confirmed seat that was given to her because of her status.
Richard Alexander it's not the Congress women to be accountable for. They both costumers who both paid. the woman still agree to go to economy and got reimburse the difference too. Un-United airlines.
So, what was the eventual outcome of this, seeing as how it was posted 5yrs ago..?!
Thankfully for the teacher, United flight attendants didn't call the Houston airport cops to come and rip her out of her seat, smashing her head into an armrest in the process and breaking her nose and drag her off the flight bruised and bleeding. That would never happen, right?
Imagine being so privileged that you can play the victim after taking someone else's first class seat cuz you're a well known politician... lol
And a certain skin tone 🙄
@@babyqueenxo don’t even do that. Just Don’t because you already sounding ignorant😒
@@ms.miyagiix1669 But it's true. Truth is not ignorant.
@@ms.miyagiix1669 You're sounding arrogant!
@@babyqueenxo it’s the other way around. There was no need to bring up skin tone, stop it.
A Congresswoman pulled the racism card? I was ticked off because a Potician took the seat!!! Where on earth did race come into play?
MsBeachboxer what’s a Potician?
you can't work out a simple typo? What's your first language?
+
MsBeachboxer the Congresswoman just reacted just like that?
If the airline tried to apologize why didn’t inside addition broker the apology between the airline and passenger?
That's a Million dollars Law Suit.
Jackson was pulling the race card!!! It had nothing to do with her race this lady just wanted the seat she paid for!!!
I agree like anyone would
Am black woman an the white woman is right in wanting her seat..because am congress or high position doesnt mean I stand for injustice if my heart is that of a good person n equality..once the white lady made it knkwn its her seat n have her proof Id get up n have a different seat even in economy or deplane until a flight available.
Lost my vote....
Nice....so she tried to pull the race card. Very nice. I hate people like that.
ravenger 101 Aren’t we all getting sick of it? How about acting like a grown-up, Shirley? From here to eternity it’s only Alaska Airlines for me.
I was thinking that about the dao incident.
ravenger 101 and she’s a congresswoman of all people
If it was about racism the first class woman would’ve outright say it. Most racist people love to get to the point asap
That is jackson Lee's M. O.
Things like that make me think if it’s not time again for some real racism …
And black folks say their grandmas can’t be Karen’s 🤣
If you book first class, you get first class.
But that's not the case with United Airlines.
I booked for economy, they said I wouldn't get a seat at all, then another guy said that we will get out economy seat, we got an economy plus seat like wtf xD
You get not class at all
red card for improper use of the race card
senorsquish1 u mean wrong ? Haha jk
That’s racist, what about the other card colours?
There's so much racism out there. Why call racism when she had all the power in this instance. This congresswoman abused her power. Not ok. She should have gave the seat back and kept her apology for the people She put in this mess.
senorsquish1 let's just throw the "race card" out the window already
Lol... you have to put in more effort than that to play the victim role 👌😂
An apology is not anything though - I’d hope they refunded her and given her a free first class ticket?
Wow. Just wow.
lol racism?! Its probably more likely the Congressman wanted a first class flight and United said they don't have any seats and she desperately needed to go so the flight probably pick someone at random. Great job UNITED again
ChaozReaper spoken like a true liberal
ChaozReaper normal black female with fake hair
Alkane Irseal your so hard and cool
:I
If there wrong the just pull the race card
Why she brought race into this tf???SHE PAID FOR HER SEAT SO SHE WANTED HER SEAT
jennifersykes5 Ikr it was Irrelevant asf
Black POC wanna be victims of everything and feel like the world owes em
なな あい No. Both ladies were dumb. She was stupid to accept United's offer to be put in economy, got that economy boarding pass, get reimbursed the difference between both placed. Then go create drama with the Congress women who is also a costumer who didn't know of the issue. If it really bothered her to be put in economy, she would have started drama with United and not have accepted that economy ticket nor her money back. She was no longer a first class passenger when she got into that plane. And the Congress women shouldn't have reacted like a victim. They both acted like 13 years old. Both stupid
jennifersykes5 because black people always bring race into everything
Andrew Clayton shut up white boy
The congresswoman should have taken another flight
We need a verb for when ppl turn into Juicy Smollett and yell racism when no racism exists...The Congresswoman jussied and said it was due to racism...
