Thanks! I grew Persian cress by mistake last year. I now have the right seeds. I'm going to winter sow some of them.

You convinced me of their usefulness, so I will start some next fall.

Can you suggest any fillers that can be started for use this coming spring too?

Can I winter sow it and be able to use that same summer?

So they are a biannual? I bought penny cress seeds that where from floret. I had maybe miss-understood and thought it was a fast growing annual. Is Cress ‘Attraxa’ Lepidium sativum an annual?

So it can tolerate the cold or you plant it inside your green house.

It tolerates the cold and comes back to bloom the following season.

Was intrigued by the pennycress videos (thank you PepperHarrow for so gernsowsly sharing your hard-won knowledge) and-- because I am committed to not grow horticultural invasives (like rocket, Eurasian bittersweet, Japanese spirea, for ex, there are hundreds more) for bouquets and always check invasive potential of everything I plant--I just learned some super interesting facts about pennycress. One, it's a super common non-native Eurasian plant long regarded as undesirable. I literally lol'd when I saw a pic of it. It's usually the fist set of leaves to appear in spread compost, cleared soil, etc.
That said! Pennycress is now being considered for bio fuel because of the high oil content of the seed. It's also good for animal feed and might even be planted instead of soy where soy is no longer growing well because of climate change. This article claims "pennycress can play a powerful role in restoring soil biodiversity on the farm." www.agri-pulse.com/articles/15579-opinion-a-pretty-penny-pennycress-cover-crop-could-help-solve-the-climate-puzzle It's also apparently a good cover crop! So, for any of you 👼flower farmers thinking about our impact on the fragile ecology around us, I am giving pennycress a "super intriguing, proceed with caution."
