    I just picked up a 3K for myself and a buddy. Spoiled with 20# 832 and that reel is solid, smooth, and works like a charm. Put about 8hrs of use on it the first weekend I got it and I have no complaints. Great bait and wait reel for both the surf and the bays. Haven’t used it in the freshwater yet.

      Carver Outdoors just pulled in 3 spotted bay bass about an hour ago in the San Diego area. Smooth drag, long casting, feels like it can definitely take some abuse if I throw it on a heavier rod.

    I ordered the 5000 both baitfeeder and original Sharky. you need to point out the skinny ass handle on these reels! Buyer beware, both mine had some flex so I returned them. Sad cause I have the 3000 and its a great little reel. Too bad cause the body of the 5 and 6 feel solid, just fell short on the handles.

  • @rambug99
    @rambug99 Před 5 lety +4

    Kastking.. i have the 3000, i like it , very well built.
    1 side note... its not really braid ready, that is not rubber in the main spool. its knurled aluminum and it does not go across the full with of the spool (say like a upperline Pflueger) I have had my 20/30 lb kastking camo braid slip , so a round or 2 of black electrical tape is necessary. Otherwise a great real and their like is good too. nice video also. Enjoy

    Cat Fish Colt: Yes these are a best bang for buck, Quality components. Several College guys ; pursuing other jobs , changed Direction; deciding to start their own Company. This reel is like a Kia car; Twenty percent more Reel for Twenty percent Less. I was always a Shimano buyer, but You cant beat this Quality/ Price point. The rear Drag ,lightest adjustment is not as light as Shimano or Okuma. I told Kast King to Work on that feature more, but its not bad, just average.

    Ive used the shimano version fishing for catfish.my complaint was when using bigger bait and fishing in current the bait mechanism was always letting line out.wich kept me from spending nearly $200.id like to see a video of someone using a 6000 for catfish in current.the price is low enough.but if it has same issue id be better off getting a regular baitcaster.since a nice penn is in the same price range.but the reel just looks so tempting to buy just to have one.

    • @wherezthebeef
      @wherezthebeef Před 4 lety +1

      I just bought a 4000 and 6000 and for the price, I don't worry about babying them, I can actually beat them up on the water, I do clean them well.

    • @eugenegress5896
      @eugenegress5896 Před rokem

      Emilio, Good point, but the rear mirco drag is suppose to prevent that on bait runner Reels. Tight it down more" The rear Drag Knob that is" I guess thats where a Kast King may do a better job at preventing that issue, because it is not as ," MICRO FINE FEATHERY LIGHT" .
      I mostly like baitfeeder reels , because you dont have to flip bail over when you need to pull line to yourself to change leaders or hooks.

    Great video! I am trying to get one of these reels for big catfish, carp, and stripers in a bigger river. Not sure if I should go with the 5000 or the 6000 size. any idea? i wish a shop around me had them in stock, so i could go and see the size difference, and decide which reel balances my rod out better, but that is not an option. I will have to order the reel online, and don't want to go through returns and exchanges... thank you!

    I will be moving to Panama in the May/June 2020 timeframe. When I moved to Thailand last year, I gave away all of my gear. So I am looking at buying two rod and reel combos for shore fishing on the Pacific coast of Panama.
    Do you have a video that shows how you did there and can you let me know what setup and baits you used?

      Greg Kellogg hey man! Thank you for watching and commenting, unfortunately there was a big storm before we got there and it brought horrible sea weed so we did no good all week. But the year prior I had a lot of success. I used spoons to catch lady fish and Spanish macrear , and I saved some of the lady fish, cut them up and used them for shark fishing and caught four sharks
      Hope this may help
