you should look into using plex. you can rip all of your movies and keep them in 1:1 digital form (no compression, same exact fidelity as the disk), and have a slick user interface to search for everything including all of the meta-data (as in search for a specific actor, sort by decade, studio, rating, new releases, etc., something that's impossible to do with the raw physical media in boxes). once my collection got into the thousands this was the right path forward. if you need help or have questions just shoot me a message if you're interested. it's a free service to use btw.
Watching this video even tho it's 8 months old I was looking for a media shelf and stumbledon this (love that home movie theater looks cozy) I want to come over for some popcorn and a double feature lol 😆
I feel your pain on giving up that collection I did that with alot of video games over the years which now go for quiet a bit I also had alot of Spawn comic books that probably would go for alot I threw away cuz of a church I was going to at the time.
You may or may not be able to get that stuff back but at least you can build a really nice collection now. Gonna sub ya brother 🥰
