For those curious about the silverware post, a "rainbow" cutlery set (if it isn't actually rainbow, which is a thing now) just means a super durable set of silverware that is usually 100+ years old. They are incredibly hard to find and will last you a lifetime and then some. Getting a set for $80 is a steal! These sets can sometimes be worth up to $1000, especially if you have all the pieces AND still have the box.

I do Calligraphy but, although I'm not a professional by any means, I AM very good at it, including scroll style.
Having tooted my own horn (which isn't something I'm comfortable with so, please bear with me), when my niece, who is absolutely awesome and also a great friend(we're close in age and kinda grew up together), asked if I could write hers and her husband's names and wedding date in Calligraphy for their table top souvenirs, which were small Lenox picture frames, in the classic Lenox creamy white, with real gold accent painting, I was thrilled!
I showed her at least 5 different versions of the Calligraphy style I could do, she picked her favorite.
I also showed her that the shrunken version would be printed on my high quality, natural/unbleached, creamy colored resumé paper. She loved it, and loved my test sample of how big the lettering and date numbers would look.
I still have a few of those beautiful Lenox frames to this day. And I've never removed them from their homemade lacy cover bags.
They came out so beautiful, even with using my computer to shrink down the original size so that each page of resumé paper could contain multiples so that there were enough for the couple of hundred souvenir Lenox frames.
My niece, NOT a Bridezilla in the LEAST and I very nearly got into a heated argument over me not willing to take any money for the labor of my work.
It was my pleasure. It made both her and her fiancé very happy because he loved the Calligraphy, too.
It was part of my wedding gift to them because, as a Bride's Maid, I couldn't afford most of the bigger ticketed items on her gift registry.
They've been married around 18 years now, and whenever we reminisce about her beautiful wedding, her hubs(AWESOME GUY!),
      ALWAYS brings up my Calligraphy.

For context Hilo is on the east side of the big island and gets about 120 inches of rain a year and has no sandy beaches and therefore isn’t a huge tourist destination. It’s not crazy to think that someone could find what she’s looking for in her price range. That area tends to attract a lot of hippies and naturalists and strangely someone like her would probably fit in pretty well in lower Puna which is about 45 min south of hilo. When I lived there I was about a half mile walk away from honolii, a popular surfing spot north of hilo and paid just $700 bucks for a two bedroom place. Didn’t have all the amenities she’s looking for but it was still a great deal. I got it through someone I knew though which is essentially the only way to get a deal like that.

Not a flight, hotel and a bunch of expensive activities. Same for the bride's party. The bridal party may chip in to cover the bride/groom's participation it's usually not a lot of money.

I was born and raised in Hawaii, specifically Oahu. The First Lady is exactly as (user) “syrup desolation” said in the comments. She is the exact kind of person causing tension between haoles ( a word for“white foreigners” typically used in a negative way,) and natives. She’s an entitled tourist, which is the worst kind. If you ever visit hawaii, make sure you’re respectful to the locals and the island itself, and educate yourself before hand on Hawaii’s dark and tragic history to better understand the racial attitudes here.
Anyways, to answer RSlashs question, I’ve found apartments here on Oahu that are tiny, buried in a sketchy area of downtown, and not entirely furnished for 1,000$ a month. Oahu tends to be pricy because it’s the main tourist attraction (which is hated by most natives/locals here,) but the big island (hawaii island) is wayyy cheaper and more rural. The thing is, the cheapest pieces of land there are typically dry, infertile, and covered in lava rock. There are lots of reasonably cheap (think $15,000-50,000) tiny off the grid houses on the big island, but it’s hard to find one without bugs or one that is in great condition. I don’t know how that compares to the mainlands prices because growing up here I’ve been desensitized to the incredibly high prices on oahu. On oahu the cheapest lot with a super simple house is about 700,000 - 1 million dollars. If this lady is looking for a well built, non off the grid house (which I’m assuming since she described a lot of modern amenities,) wants it in a secluded area on the big island surrounded by what I’m assuming she expects to be lush undergrowth, with a pool or hot tub, ocean view/access, very well built, and furnished fancy things with modern plumbing and electricity, she’s in for a rude awakening. Houses like that probably go for $1,700-8,000 PER NIGHT on Airbnb or other rental sites. If she wanted to rent monthly, I’m guessing the lowest she could rent for would be around $7,000-15,000 a month depending on the house.I could be completely wrong as I’ve only visited the big island a handful of times and I’m used to seeing the prices here on oahu, so take what I say with a grain of salt. I was also thinking about the nearby wildlife in a naturally green secluded area (and maybe native species) being disturbed by this lady blasting music and singing all night. Horribly entitled.

As someone who lives in Hawaii, I can confirm that this lady is out of it. Finding an apartment? HERE? With that price range at the ocean? Good luck. There are places like that where I live, some neighborhoods have a private beach *however* not only is it with multiple other people but it's not cheap! Houses here cost half to a million dollars!

I can't get mad at the Hawaii lady in putting her needs out in the universe and trying to manifest her dreams. Write a vision and make it plain, and whatnot. I get it.
I can roll my eyes so hard that she'll be able to hear it and know even though she is a stranger to me it was directed at her. 🙄

I hope Cutlery CB's daughter goes no contact. She does not need that mess in her life.
TIL rSlash is at least 6' tall. Not that it matters; I just find it interesting. Wait, I might have heard him wrong... Is he saying the only things he has on the list are that he has a kid and wears flip-flops? If so, then I was right the first time. Right?

That first one is way too much like the door-to-door religious sales folk that come to my door. As such, I'm amassing quite a collection of accouterments to throw on when I answer. Such as:
Tossing a black frilly netting over my head and grabbing two black candles that I light and open the door: "Would you like to praaaaay with me?!" in my old man voice.
A roast chicken hat touting, "The Almighty Roasted Chicken of Destiny!"
Or, I just open the door and scream my best Sam Kinison scream and slam the door.
Yup! I'm evil! ... But, MOOOORE Evil!!! As the great Alistair says.

I've been to Hawaii. Renting a unit there in a good location on the island (no beachfront access or personal pool/hot tub) costs $500 per night. For the kind of place the 1st choosing beggar is looking for, I'd estimate that her budget would be enough to pay for one night at best.
