- HK22 returns, this time in a shiny hybrid form. The Hazmat fills a much-needed spot in your bag with a symmetrical shape that's super clean, but doesn't jump uncontrollably down-lane. But how does it compare to the super smooth Dark Web Hybrid? Joe's puts both balls through their paces to find out.

Love my hazmat. Took a bit to figure it out but hit it with 1000 and it kills all house shots. And it’s a great game 2/3 ball on sport shots when you need some angle

Every video I’ve seen of the hazmat shows it to hit really light and deflect a lot. Kind of surprising for the HK22 cover
It's a pretty clean cover, for sure. And that cover, paired with its core, produce a nice even-rolling, smooth reaction. A little abralon pad could probably get it to pick up more were you might be preferring it to.

For me the hazmat is a sleeper for ball of the year. I’m averaging almost 238 with it

Glad you're loving it! And yeah, that should be an AMAZING 1-2 punch with the XLR8. I think the XLR8 was one of the best sleeper balls of this past year.
If you could find it, a good ball to compare this to would be the Hammer Scandal/S. The entire Scandal series is symmetrical, plus uses the same Semtex coverstock (The Scandal has Symtex Solid, Scandal Pearl using Symtex Pearl, and the Scandal/S using Symtex Hybrid). outside of the core and HK22, the covers would be the same, so that would give a good direct comparison.
We'll have to see If I can find one for Joe sometime soon. I know a few others who liked it pretty good.
Wondering how you would compare the Hazmat to the Dark Web solid. Cleaner through the fronts with a stronger continuous arc in the back end?
Definitely cleaner in the front and middle of the lane. Dark Web solid is pretty smooth all around
This ball for me. Not smooth. The most snappy angular thing i have and its nkt thr layout the pin in maybe .5 inches up and over from my ring finger and thr rg is in a straight line below it
Interesting. It's been pretty smooth, but not too smooth, for some of our other bowlers at WSB. Perhaps your center has different lane material than ours?
