  • As one of the most anticipated releases in some time, Storm's new Ion Pro was designed to be a new era reimagining of "benchmark ball." Ben's back with a deep dive look, comparing 2 different layouts AND 2 different surfaces against what he considers the greatest benchmark ball of all time, the IQ Tour. Will the Ion hold its own?

    Great video. Too many people go straight to urethane instead if trying short pin layouts. If you have slower ball speed or have a rev rate under 400 rpms short pin layouts are way more useful than urethane. Unless you love picking up 10 pins all day

      Thanks--much appreciated! And I totally agree--short pin layouts can be a nice secret weapon when all else isn't getting the job done

    I'm currently using an original Xponent as my benchmark ball. How would the Ion Pro compare to that?

    • @wsbproshop
      @wsbproshop  Před dnem +2

      Great question. I'd say the Xponent is almost a lateral move off the Ion. Meaning, it's about the same level of strength, but just a different shape. The Xponent gets into a roll a bit slower than the Ion, and is less responsive down lane... so they can weirdly play off each other nice as compliments.

    is WSB not going to do the eliminator tourny this year?

    • @wsbproshop
      @wsbproshop  Před dnem +2

      Good question. We're currently in talks to bring the Eliminator back. Definitely mention it to Jeff--the more people who ask for it, the more likely it will return!

    Can i have both im my bag? I also have the 900 global xponent and original zen also the clone also a storm hyroad pearl

      Definitely! I currently have both in my bag, and they work perfectly together. I've been starting league with the Ion, and as soon as the shot breaks now, I move to the IQ Tour. It's the best 1-2 punch I've ever seen

    What is rough edge compound? Is that a storm product

    • @wsbproshop
      @wsbproshop  Před dnem +1

      Yep--Storm now has 2 new polishes/compounds: Rough Edge, and Smooth Edge. I prefer Rough Edge. Meant to give shine, but keep the grit at around 1000.
