I am the honest vocal coach! I have been teaching for 15 years and been singing since I was 16. I teach from my own studio and also teach and mentor via email, and online via Live & Skype. I specialise in teaching children, and teenagers pop and musical theatre but I am trained in all genres of music. I have studied every voice technique there is, including Speech Level Singing, Estill, Bel Canto, Robert Lunte, London College of Music, ABRSM, Ria Keen, Kim Chandler, Stevie Van Lange and many more. I have been around!
In 2008 I wrote the Vocaltutor Guide, 21 set lessons for singing teachers to get started, learning to teach, and produced 3 vocal exercise CD/Downloads.

Mel c and Emma always had the stand out vocals in the group.
You can hear Victoria so much in the chorus. It’s crazy. Never ever heard it before

Victoria carries the low harmony in almost all of their songs. She's pretty good actually if you really listen
She always carried the lower harmonies.
Mel C or "Sporty" spice was always the strongest vocalist. SHe was always given the most difficult parts.
Agreed, out of all of them. The others were there to fill in the gaps, and together they were not too bad, but on their own........nope. That's the trouble with these bands, they get success together, then think they are all wonderful singers and can make it on their own, and pretty much fail.
Mel B's deep voice is very good too!
@@Trillock-hy1cf I'd argue Mel C is pretty good as a solo artist. Unless, of course, you were only referring to the other four Spice Girls, in which case; my apologies for misreading your comment.
@@Trillock-hy1cf nah...Mel C is successful in her solo career. Though not so famous in US, but she's doin good in Europe.
With her vocal abilities she should have been the diva. I really regret not appreciating her as a young fan, which was largely due to her branding with limited femininity. She is absolutely gorgeous and her solo career showed her true personality. I am so happy to have her on the music scene for such a long time with so many fantastic hits.
Spice girls are vocally at their best when it’s all 5. I love Emma and victorias Vocals but all spice girls are cool together the blend and harmonies and enthusiasm was phenomenal
I always loved Victoria’s voice. I know she is not the best singer but there is something that I really enjoy
i agree her tone is really pretty especially when she's confident i think she has my favorite voice.

I am always so baffled at why victoria doesn’t think she can sing. I mean she certainly has a very specific and lower range, but the quality and tone of her voice are so gorgeous and sultry! I so agree with you on what they all could do well!
Let’s not forget that 4 of the 5 spice girls had classical musical training.
Victoria, Mel C and Mel B had gone to performing arts schools/ college prior joining the spice girls and Emma had received private lessons since a kid.
Geri was the only one who did not receive training.
Interesting. I can see how Geri might have felt unfulfilled from her role in the group as the others were basically trained to do what they were doing.
Still had a better voice then Vic
I always liked Victoria's line in 2 become 2 "once again if we endeavour, love will bring us back together". I didn't know that they'd had a music education background
But Geri has brought something big to the group. She may not a great singer, but she is more prominent in harmony vocals.
Emma also went to an acting school in London.
Posh came thru in the chorus, and ended the song so well!!! 😍😍
Mel C got the difficult parts because shes got the best vocals hands down! I love her strong distinctive voice her parts always make there tracks more polished her naturel talent made the group what it is!
You can hear Victoria and a little bit of Mel B in the chorus which is curious, when Emma leads the chorus in the studio version.
i always think its posh and we hear emma cause whenever its live it sounds similar but i hear more vicky personally

People forget that the spice girls were performing arts students and also worked the kinks out on the club circuit for years beforre success..using the Take That route. And people forget for a decent melody there has to be a "bass" and foundation to blend together, and that was victoria.
And the spice girls were a phenominam more than musical perfection.

I love the Spice Girls and "Too Much" and "Viva Forever" were the singles that showcased their best harmonies, at least I reckon so. As you say they might not be the best singers but as a whole they were brilliant. And what they meant as a unit. Lovely video, Georgina!

I sing and I can say that I absolutely loved this! As you said Sporty had all the difficult bits, probably because she has the most powerful voice out of the group, but I think that the mix of them all together is lovely. Baby with her sweet tone, Scary with her lower tone (and rap skills), Ginger & Posh with their sexy voices.
Don’t forget they also wrote all their songs...
Oh wow. They wrote their own songs! Now we all know who to blame for "Yellow man in Timbuktu". 🙄

At least Mel C apparently did want to change that lyric for their current reunion tour (like they also changed some of the lyrics in 2 Become 1 to be more LGBT friendly) but apparently they couldn't agree on what the replacement lyrics should be so.... Yeah.

I’m 31 & live in Texas. I’ve been a *huge* Spice Girls fan for years now. It just kills me that I’ve never gotten to see them live! 😢 When they toured the US in the 90’s I couldn’t go because my mom was super religious. Remember back in the 90’s the way they dressed was considered, “risqué”. Compared to women in the industry today (who I still love!) they dressed like nuns! Haha. Their 2008 tour didn’t come close enough to Texas, the US is such a large country the closest show was Chicago still 1,100 miles (1,770 km) & I could afford all the expenses for travel. Even if they came remotely near here, even without Victoria (😢) I’d go! I keep hoping & praying for a miracle tour! 🙏🏻☺️
Always loved Mel Cs tone she was distinctive and really put her stamp on the songs
Nice to see a 'normal' woman presenting on YT, as the usual ones have their lungs hanging out, 3 tons of make up, velcro strips for eye brows, and over bright fake teeth....it is so refreshing, and knows her stuff about music, so relies on her talent rather than her chest size...........so thank you.

The Mels and Emma (Sporty, Scary, and Baby) were honestly the vocal core of the group. They are the three Spice Girls who really can't be replaced vocally by any of the others.
I went to their 1998 tour (Geri was actually great), 2007 (Victoria was awful but got the most cheers) and 2019 (Emma was by far the best.) Definitely improved vocally over the years.
Sporty is an athlete. I’m sure that enhances her vocal abilities.
It’s not their best performance clearly but they can be very good.

@@ThePethboc lol. They sang the verses live but the choruses had tons of backing tracks on them. Istanbul was heavily dubbed, as was Wembley.
They were young and beautiful, their pop songs were cool and catchy, who wouldn't like them? Then of course they are not professional, we're not talking about Dionne Warwick or Whitney Houston but their songs are easy to sing along

Can you hear Geri on the chorus? Sometimes the girls in unison sound like each other. She offered a lot to the group, but struggled vocally live. Still She's iconic and a force and necessary. All of them are. Her lower/deep tone sounds beautiful with the other girls, same with Melanie B

You can hear her periodically. Geri was usually the one to most likely fall out of harmony or get too loud.
@@Razzo8530 she recently joked that her mic was always lowered so the first chorus she was a bit loud but i think she realized after her solo that her mic was turned on so she probably adjusted after that but that's me taking her joke as a half truth lol

I really like this live version with Victoria carrying the chorus vocals. She does have a nice voice. In the studio version it's basically just Emma you hear. Similar with Viva Forever. Maybe they wanted a "girlier", less theatrical sound overall.

As a huge Spice Girls fan, I just want to thank you for making this video. The Spice Girls definitely aren't the greatest singers, with Melanie C and Emma being the best of out of them, but yes, together they just had that special something.

Shes has some fillers and Botox before the tour for sure (a shame Cos I don’t think she needed it and maybe had too much put in) .. not sure that classifies as plastic surgery these days but each to their own - freaking love them all to the ends of time, especially Mel B’s honesty and authenticity x
Always knew they were amazing. Vocally as you say nothing spectacular but as a whole they were incredible. Harmonies tight and technique always good. Mel c defo had the most control. She always sounds amazing live just as she does in the studio.
