    That drummer, Murata Tamu, the drums goddess, winner of My Goddess voting project of BEEAST Online Maganize best female drummer award in 2015 and 2017, is one if the best and most sought-after drummer for any filling-in role in Japan. She is also a good singer in which she sing in her own self-produce single as a solo drummer and collaborative single with Ladybeard. She is also a multi-instrumentalist who plays piano, keyboard, guitar, bass, xylophone and saxophone to name a few. Here is Ai Murata (her real name) profile.
    In 2007, she started as jazz drummer at the early age of 15 in high school and received guidance from a very well established session drummer, Masahiko Noguchi at Saila Drum School (now Tamu is also one of the lecturers at that school).
    Tamu continue her drumming activities after graduated from high school and in 2013 she joined a girls band SORAMIMI as a drummer.
    She graduate from university in 2015, the same year she won the best female drummer award in the voting project My Goddess 2015 by BEEAST - Living with Rock, Lifestyle Support Magazine. In the same voting project that year, SAKI, guitarist from Mary's Blood and her soon-to-be band mate that time, won the best female guitarist award category.
    In 2016, SORAMIMI released an album that includes the song 'Paralle Line', which is the first song composed and written by Murata Tamu. She also signed her first endorsement contract with TAMA Japan that year. SORAMIMI was suspended in March 2017.
    Year 2017 was a time when her carrier in drumming started to pick up drastically. She held her first drum solo performance in February 2017 and it was a completely sold-out solo drumming concert at the TSUTAYA O-Crest live music venue.
    In April 2017, she joined the INSPION group (a project led by Takeshi Kuramochi and Daisuke Kurosawa for corporate sound production company) as a session drummer and becoming one of the prominent member of the group, considered as one of the staff member at the company in-charge of the drums. The group mostly do sounds production for games and movies and in free time, they get together doing cover songs of X JAPAN among other projects and she is still active with the group until now (2022). She also released her self-produced DVD titled Murata Tamu's Hyper Drum Training.
    In May 2017, she held her second solo live concert at TSUTAYA O-West and invited Japan's infamous drummer, Nyango Star as her guest. She appeared again at the same venue in September 2017 to mark the release of her self-produced EP titled INNOCENT with four original songs, one of which she also sings.
    In July 2017, she was announced as the best in female drummer award category again for the voting project My Goddess 2017 of BEEAST magazine award. This time, SAKI was in 2nd place for the best female guitarist award category.
    She appeared in NAONたYAON (female's outdoor stage - yearly event organized by legendary Japan's all female metal band, SHOW-YA) every year since 2017. She was also one of the supporting drummers in SAKI's World Guitar Girls Collection (WGGC) project where in NAONたYAON, Tamu was the drummer behind WGGC show since 2017.
    She is very active with her drumming activities such as holding drum seminars at vocational schools, musical instrument stores, and Drum Clinic Tour in China. She is also one of the drummer support for idol group The World Standard (WASUTA), Nanase Aikawa, Rie a.k.a Suzaku and many other successful artists. She regularly appeared on the national music information TV 'MUSIC BB'.
    In August 2017, she launched a CZcams channel Tamu Zukan which is her own show where she invites, learns, explores other drummers' skill set and also about various musical instruments.
    In January 2018, Tama Drumsticks H-TMTM, Mutata Tamu signature model hits the market. In March 2018, she was invited as a guest drummer for Naka-Kon event in Kansas City, USA. It is an annual three-day convention, celebrating anime, manga, cosplay, music, fashion and gaming. She held another live concert at TSUTAYA O-West in May 2018 to commemorate the release of her double-sided A-side single "Super D & D-Completely Lead Imai Me- / D Absolutely! SAMURAI in the Rain" featuring Ladybeard, an Australian stunt actor, professional wrestler and former vocalist of Deadlift Lolita and Ladybaby, who is now lead vocalist of BABYBEARD.
    In mid 2018, she held her 5th installment of her solo live concerts at two venues, OSAKA MUSE and Shibuya WWW-X, celebrating her entering into 10 years of professional drumming.
    By 2019, she already had 6 live solo concerts under her belt with the latest one was held in January 2019 at TSUTAYA O-West again.
    In August 2019, she was invited to perform in Mayu Session band by vocalist, Mayu and bassist, Haraguchi-san who were high school friends and just quit their bands, LIPSTICK and HöLDERLINS respectively. At that time, they were still looking for guitarist so she asked SAKI (Mary's Blood & AMAHIRU guitarist, ex-Destrose) to introduce anyone who might be available since SAKI got connections through her WGGC project. If Tamu herself is playing, SAKI wouldn't miss the opportunity to return the favour to Tamu (remember that she is the prominent drummer for SAKI's WGGC project) by being there herself. SAKI bring along her friend Hazuki (Disqualia guitarist) since Disqualia activities was put on hold and Hazuki that time only supporting RAMI and Li-sa-X project as a session guitarist (later in 2020, Li-sa-X Band was formed with Hazuki as permanent member).
    Mayu Session band performed at live venue and they hits of immediately eventhough its the first time they played together and some members didn't know each other before. They had lots of fun together and thought this is what they are looking for individually - technical superiority asides, a tight band and fun friends. So after that one session ends, they decided to stay together and make their quintet permanent, which is now known as the NEMOPHILA.
    In September 2019, she announced in her social media "I became a drummer of NEMOPHILA. Thanking you in advance. I'm glad I met some nice friends and I'll hit them with my soul." ...and she did hit them hard as the band grew tighter every day, in line with the growth of their local and international fan base.
    SAKI, the leader of the band and also the composer for Mary's Blood said "I write songs for NEMOPHILA too, but there is also a composer team, so we compose the songs at the same time and give every member the midi’s. Tamu has had the longest career of the band, so she always makes her own fills by herself." She got much respect from SAKI even before WGGC & NEMOPHILA since both of them top their categories in 2015 BEEAST goddess award and Tamu did it again in 2017.
    Miki 'mittan' Tsunoda, the drummer of legendary Japanese metal band SHOW-YA also seen paying respect to Tamu during her time-off giving birth. Mittan appeared in NEMOPHILA line ups and supporting them covering two SHOW-YA songs, taking the drummer's place while honouring Tamu by wearing the frog t-shirt which is Tamu's trademark shirt. Another legendary drummer did the same was Kyoko Tomita from rock band Princess Princess while NEMOPHILA did their cover song. A respect from legendary Japanese drummers really shows how big her reputation is.
    In October 2019, Tamu signed another endorsement contract with MEINL cymbals. She is now using TAMA Silverstar (Jet Blue Burst) and MEINL cymbals in her studio.
    In February 2020, NEMOPHILA secured their first ever one-man show at Shibuya REX and the tickets sold out instantly after the announcement. This show, however, not featuring all NEMOPHILA original line-ups because Tamu was on maternity leave. Again, in her place, the legendary mittan of SHOW-YA made an appearance covering for her. The other scheduled NEMOPHILA show after that was cancelled due to the pandemic. She had played in Roland Boss Player Summit 2020 to wrap up Roland's Junior Drums Competition in which she was one of the judges that time.
    In 2021, she again took part in NAONたYAON but officially as NEMOPHILA drummer, plus filling in for Gacharic Spin (their drummer Yuri was pregnant at that time) so she isn't part of SAKI's WGGC. Later that year, she welcomed another member of her family and she is now a mother of two.
    In January 2022, NEMOPHILA appeared in one-man show for the first time featuring all original members including the drums goddess, Tamu. In that show, they performed a song LIFE as finale, which was a very special song they performed for Tamu during one of their live streaming event, celebrating Tamu's return to the line ups after maternity leave. This time around, it is very emotional for mayu seeing all the band members around her managed to pull off this one-man show with her and she cried hard. Before their final bow, Tamu is the first to approached mayu and gave her a hug with gentle stroke on her hair like a mother's gesture saying she did a great job. She is a lovely person who always look after the band members as her own little sisters especially her rhythmic partner Haraguchi-san.

      Tamu Murata was the drummer, not keyboardist, of Grizzly on the Planet. You seem to have got your info from a translation of the Japanese-language Wiki article on Tamu, and also of some of the endnote references of that article, but the reference the article gives to the band Grizzly on the Planet is either to another band of the same name (and using Tamu's name for keyboardist) or is some kind of joke, or both---a clue is the fact that the date on the reference is after Tamu had already departed Grizzly (she announced her departure Dec. 31, 2015). Several of the dates the article gives in its notes are wrong, btw.
      Grizzly on the Planet was in Tamu's day and is presently a two-person act---vocal/guitar and vocal/drums---with keyboard and bass backing tracks---it wasn't and isn't a five-member band as the article reference has it. When Tamu has referred to Grizzly in the past, including the departure announcement, it has been as the drummer, not keyboardist.

      @@tbkegaijin it was listed on GRIPURA info that their keyboardist is tmtm which was her stage name during her earlier carrier. Maybe their site was wrongly translated I don't know but thanks for the heads up, I will try to dig deeper into that info. but I decided to stop with the information overload on NEMOPHILA reactions after this except those who genuinely interested in them, occasionally. Thanks again.

      @@tbkegaijin i learned that their drummer that time was Saito Kenta @ UNY while tmtm is on keyboards so I have no idea at this moment but I know she is proficient on keyboards and watching how Tamu covering SHOW-YA song FAIRY on her keyboards while Mittan herself was on drums, I thought GRIPURA info was legit until you pointed that out. I watched Tamu since 2015 and now I realized that I never came across her with GRIPURA but some sites cited her involvemet. Now I can't find the references when its needed LOL but I took out the GRIPURA reference in her profile for now since I suspect there are confusions in translations somewhere or it actually refers to different entity all together. đŸ€”

      @tbkegaijin Pƙed 2 lety +1

      @@OvDevilz All I can say is that, whatever your immediate source of info, it's clearly based on the Japanese-language article on Tamu, and the note on Tamu's involvement with Grizzly in that article is suspect, as I explain above. Anyway, it's a minor point---Tamu is a great musician. I saw Nemophila at their concert at LineCube on Jan. 9, and it was impressive to say the very least.

    • @OvDevilz
      @OvDevilz Pƙed 2 lety +1

      @@tbkegaijin as for now I got confirmation that UNY was in fact a drummer from the time which tmtm is their keyboardist. Not much info on tmtm though except that individual was born on 25th September 1992 in Kanagawa prefecture, Yokohama to be specific, which is a perfect match. So I guess she could possibly be their keyboardist since UNY adressed tmtm as a 'she' but that's all I could gather so far and unless there is exact confirmation on the identity, I couldn't say more. If she or her manager doesn't want her to be associated with GRIPURA, I won't either.

    The Babymetal merch visible in the vid was brought by guitarist Saki. In a favorite-song playlist (of various bands) Saki once put together this tune was no. 1. There's a connection with Babymetal's Kami Band too, in that Nemo guitarist Hazuki studied under the late great Kami Band guitarist Mikio Fujioka at Musicians Institute. When Fujioka died in an accident in early 2018, Saki and Hazuki wrote tributes to him. Saki wrote directly to Fujioka's wife in a very respectful and warm tone---a classy act. Nemophila have a domestic tour of Zepp facilities (with a guest act each stop) coming in June and before that an appearance at Naon no Yaon scheduled for April. Saw them live at LineCube earlier this month---Mayu is an impressive bundle of raw energy on stage---I have got to see them at Naon.

      @@crimson0119 I don't think she's far from that, just look at the whole Trilogy, Shine in particular, is a rollercoaster for voice, she has to switch between deep low notes and high sustained ones in few beats. This is a great cover. Mayu did a bit more of the Enka style vocals envisioned for the song with the melodramatic wide vibrato notes. Su- was encouraged to sing the song in Enka style but having just recently turned 15 and only just then coming into her mature voice she ended up with a different sound (but what a wonderful sweet and narrow vibrato she does have) and so the precedent was set. Mayu definitely puts her own take on it, but kept some of Su-'s clear no vibrato notes as well.
