Welcome to the Foxhole and BabyMetal Galaxy đŸŠŠđŸ€˜
I didn't watch your Kingslayer reaction but that is great song collaboration with a nice dose of BabyMetal but trust me this group got more to show besides nice vocals and sound, that was in 2020 when the girls were over their 20's, in this case you starting almost since the beginning.
BabyMetal is a Japanese metal dance unit created in 2010 under another Jpop/Jrock group called Sakura Gakuin, they had 11 and 12 years old and become independent after 2013, they created their own genre called kawaii-metal (kawaii means cute), mixing Jpop with metal sound and different subgenres along with many more rhythms, they are:
    *SuMetal* lead vocalist.
    *MoaMetal* scream and dance.
*YuiMetal* scream and dance, former member since 2018.
    None of them are related.
    *Iine!*
Iine! is one of the early songs, 2nd single released in 2012 having only 13 and 14 yo, they wanna make clear don't want to be pigeonholed. Is a super fun party night song with their besties and you got everything you need on this song, from de "Para Para" style, eurobeat to a hip hop with 90's look and heavy metal with death growls breakdown, is a beautiful crazy dream and is "Iine" = 👍
Song was part of a single and first collaboration with the band Kiba Of Akiba, they made a cover of one song called "Kimi To Anime Ga Mitai" and Kiba.Of Akiba did Doki Doki Morning, an interesting upbeat tempo version.
Except for certain songs like Headbanger!! and IDZ,. SuMetal doesn't shout those parts you heard during live performance, is always a backing track, same for the growling except for Distortion after 2019, that got collaboration growling of Alissa White-Gluz from Arch Enemy band, sorry for spoilers but none of the Kami Band do growling or any voices on any song.
But the live certainly is a blast and you'll see some difference on dance choreography, again live at Budokan 2014 is a nice choice.
If you want some details on the backstage of this song, as well 4 more of their early MV, there's a commentary vid made by the girls.
There's another version called Iine! Vega Mix version with different guitar arrangements and change on the lyrics during hip hop part, it was released for the Sakura Gakuin 2011 Nendo Friends album.
    *Megitsune*
This was released in 2013 when having around 13/14 and 15 yo, so is one of their early hits and is full of japanese elements, like the _shamizen_ a japanese traditional instrument, and just like you noticed is a party festival song.
Btw they really made a ritual and praise to the Fox God for this song to be successful -NotACult- 👀
Song is about female empowerment and if you get to know in-depth the lyrics you'll see about it, to say it right just go google translate type the word and read the japanese side but also if you listen carefully you'll hear them singing. "Megitsune" means female vixens, and they talk about women acting with a smile in their face while crying inside, just to fit in society or what is expected from them, when they're kind to you, they're not trying to make falling in love with them, they're just being their own way, and that tend to confuse and male people think they're cheating or deceiving.
When SuMetal (the lead singer) pull out the "tanto" mic she's saying _"maiden shouldn't be uderstimated",_ that reffers to japanese mob film about some boss mafia daughter before attacking someone. During live shows instead of tanto mic, SuMetal throw a kick after saying that, she really looks cool doing it.
Megitsune is a quintessential BM song and one of the most beloved, SuMetal said she didn't mastered yet, that's why you will hear her doing sound check with this song before live concerts. If you watch a live versiĂłn (not the Legend 1997 in this case) you'll feel the power of that heavy breakdown with the Kami Band, my favorite one is the "Red Fox Festival" with only a room full of megitsune, you can find that at Babymetal Reactor Resource under "All female audience" title.
For your next set I'll go with:
    - "Catch Me If You Can" with Kami Band intro live at Budokan 2014, GuilhermeCait got a clip safe to react, no need for live compilation, try to stay away of those whenever you can, we're gonna suggest the best version and safe to react original clips but you can also have another help from other places, I'll tell you more in my next comment.
    - "Ijime Dame Zettai" live at Sonisphere Festival 2014 another must watch, just careful with the official channel version.
    - Headbanger!! live at Legend 1997, "Gans Tomas" or "abr metal" channel got that clip safe to react under "Head Bangya" title.
You got more japanese references and meanings on this song but I'll let the rest keep explaining this so i don't wanna get boring you with a wall of text. 😅
Now you know why we said "kitsune" (fox) to male fans and "megitsune" to female fans ha.
    *Distortion*
And just like i told you in Iine! you arrived to the only song that got collaboration growlings, none of the others growlings on BM songs got credits to anyone relevant.
"Distortion" is a badass song that's even better to hear and watch it live with the Kami Band, you got live at Download Festival 2018 version safe to react.
It belongs to 3rd BabyMetal album, "Metal Galaxy" with a more mature side and very interesting concept gathering and mixing rhythms from all over the world.
The MV rounds around The Chosen Seven theme they had back in those days, they had an extensive lore.
By this time in 2018 one of the original members, YuiMetal, wasn't performing along with them and it wasn't clear her return, so this MV was released without any of them sadly, later in October 2018 she left the band officially.
The album version (2019) and later live performance got the growls collaboration with Alissa White-Gluz from Arch Enemy band, but not on this MV.
I highly recommend you to watch live at Download Festival 2018 version, after traveling a little bit more on 1st and 2nd album.
It seems you got a lot good info, they were celebrating their 10 years during early 2021 with a series of live concerts called 10 BABYMETAL Years live at Budokan 2021, they went on a hiatus sealing the group by October 10th the same year and now we're waiting for something to happen next 10/10 hopefully unsealing the group and releasing new single or something more, everyone is freaking out with these news, meanwhile we're having some of the exclusive snippets of their new songs and so far sounds so good.
Thanks for sharing and see you next time đŸŠŠđŸ€˜â€ïž

Welcome to Babymetal, 3 girls Su-metal, Yui metal and Moa metal creating a new genre of metal called Kawaii metal or cute metal in 2010 when they were aged 13 and 11. A mixture a Jpop and heavy metal they combine different genres from Metal core with songs like Karate, Industrial with their song Awadama Fever, Folk/Celtic metal with the song Meta Taro, Thrash metal with Gimme Chocolate, Power metal with Road of Resistance, Progressive with TOTD and Death metal with Babymetal Death. Multiple world tours and numerous awards for their live shows and voted 10th of the top 50 metal bands. Alissa White-Glutz from Arch Enemy provides the growls on Distortion.

That's a great reaction. The studio versions of any of their songs is just considered a 'preview' of what a live performance will be. Babymetal is a live performance band and the girls have been at it for over a decade. By the time Babymetal had their first headlining concert, they were already veterans of performing with the idol group Sakura Gakuin on stage. So they have been training for a long while and CAN last out the entire concert with this much energy and choreo. And the choreo for EACH song is different. So you will always be entertained. One of the coolest things about BM is that the choreo you see in the music videos is pretty much the SAME choreo when they perform live. That's awesome. No such thing as a hundred takes to get the choreo right.
You are definitely now a member of The One (name given to the fans), and we welcome you to delve deeper into the foxhole. At some point, I suggest you watch the Unhelpful Guide to Babymetal, and you'll learn about the history of the band and the girls. Some of us still call them girls despite the fact that they are now in their twenties because we've been following them ever since they were little girls. But we affectionately refer them as such because of the immense love and respect we have for them, especially those of us who are also fans of Sakura Gakuin (a huge huge side tunnel in the foxhole).
Please continue your Babymetal journey, we will be here patiently waiting. Btw, be careful of Amuse blocking your video. Check out the Babymetal Reactor's Resource channel for tips. Have a great week!
Edited: I totally forgot to make recommendations. Karate (both music video and live performance are really good), Road of Resistance Live in Japan, Headbangerrrrr!, No Rain No Rainbow, The One, From Dusk to Dawn to name a few. I have a feeling you're gonna listen to all of them. They have 3 studio albums, Babymetal, Metal Resistance, and Metal Galaxy. You can walk your Babymetal path chronologically and can experience their 'growth' as they get older and mature. They are my all time favorite band. My wife says I'm obsessed with them. You know, if the band makes me happy in a good way, I say let it be an obsession especially in the past few years. Thank you for you excitement.

Wonderful reaction! Please more Babymetal! It was a great sample of Babymetal. The latest song "Distortion" (2019) was released at a very difficult time for Babymetal, as Yui - one of the founding girls of the trio, left the band for health and career reasons. In addition, Kamiband's lead guitarist Mikio, very dear to the band and fans, passed away in an accident. It was a great trauma and sadness for the fans. The sound changed a lot at this stage. But the band resisted and overcame this hard phase. There are many other amazing Babymetal songs that are clearly experimental. The other two girls are now adults. Yui has been replaced by other dancers, but she is always remembered as an original member. Mikio, the great master, too. Each phase of the girls' growth generated a different language and characteristic of Babymetal. It is an innovatively created band for girls, but it has reached the adult heavy metal audience. It is worth following these young girls, Su and Moa (and Yui), as they dedicated their entire lives to Heavy Metal rock, with success on different continents.

Great reaction! If you wish to dig deeper into the Foxhole, my suggestion is look for live shows whenever is possible 😊, you're definitely not going to regret it!
A milestone in BM evolution was 2014, they had 2 shows at Budokan, and their first proper tour outside Japan, indeed you could check Ijime Dame Zettai, or IDZ, live at the Sonisphere 2014, that performance really gave them a huge boost!
    đŸ€˜đŸ»đŸŠŠâšĄ
PS about Budokan, they went there again in 2021, this time for 10 shows, so if you see Red Night or Black Night, those are 2014, Budokan X are from 2021.
Also, if you get confused reading Legend 1997 or Legend 1999, those are special events and since SU Metal was born in 1997, while MOA and YUI were born both in 1999, you may easily guess ... 😅

The 1st one is an early one. When that M/V was released, they were 14 (SuMetal, the center) and 13 (YuiMetal and MoaMetal).

And for what I see you just jumped into the Fox Hole, head first... so welcome to The ONE.
"iine" is one of their crazier songs. It looks like they wanted to combine all the music styles they could. And the music video is priceless. They were around 13 (Su-metal, the lead singer) and 12 (both Yui and Moa). It's hard to believe, but they weren't 7 there, hehe...
"Megitsune" is an absolute fan favorite, a total classic and their most played live song (up to 242 times). And its music video is a masterpiece in my opinion.
"Distortion" is a more recent work, released in a period called "dark era" or "dark side", after a really tough year during which very sad events occurred, such as Yui's departure and the untimely death of Mikio Fujioka, guitarist and member of the Kami Band.
Well, you have watched three very different songs and every song is gonna be pretty different from the others (it's kinda their own style). So you are good to continue with anything you choose. But If I had to suggest something specific I'd say "Ijime, Dame, Zettai" live at Sonisphere 2014.
    See you next time!

I won't comment on the individual videos as that would lead to pages of text and others will do that. Instead I'll give a few performance recommendations and a very brief orientation.
For songs live performances are always best and next have a look at "Headbanger - Legend 1997" and then "Road of Resistance Live in Japan".
Babymetal is lead singer Suzuka Nakamoto (Su-metal), Moa Kikuchi (Moametal) and up to 2017 Yui Mizuno (Yuimetal) and their backing band is called The Kami Band. They are a kawaii (cute) metal group formed in 2010 by the Amuse Agency producer Kei Kobayashi. They started as the "Heavy Metal Club" in the school themed J-pop idol group Sakura Gakuin, but became so popular that in 2013 they were spun off as a separate group. They have survived the traumatic events of the death of their lead guitarist Mikio Fujioka and Yui leaving the band in 2017/18 for unspecified health reasons. They really emphasize live performance and touring so the last few years have been tough for them and they have been on hiatus, but there is a new project in the works and fans hope to see some new music soon.
As another J-popish group recommendation take a look at Atarashii Gakko.

Welcome to the Foxhole! "Iine!" is their early manifest that says "We will NOT be pigeon-holed into any one genre or style of music" and they still hold true to that as almost every song is wildly different. The only rule to reacting to Babymetal is "Expect the unexpected".
In case no one else has mentioned it yet, in the early official MVs and live shows, the band shown are just actors wearing costumes and pretending to play instruments. Any time you see guys in skeleton costumes (Babybones) they are actors and the music is a backing track as Babymetal did not have the budget for a live band early on.
The real musicians (Kami Band, wearing white robes and corpse paint) were phased in to play the second half\encores and then became permanent I believe in 2014.
That said, the Kami Band is a rotating cast of some of the best session musicians Japan has to offer, though you will see in live performance videos only a core group, such as BOH on Bass, Mikiko (RIP), Leda Cygnus and a few others on Guitar and one or two different drummers.
In the later performances, starting with the Metal Galaxy tour in 2018 the Kamis wear darker robes and metal masks hiding their faces and there is also a "Kami Band of the West" comprising of American musicians (most notably members of the Star Wars themed "Galactic Empire" backing Babymetal on US and European tours as it became more difficult for the Japanese Kamis to work these overseas tours into their own schedules.
The Kami Band musicians do not record on the studio albums, with the exception of Leda Cygnus who recorded some guitar and bass tracks.
Pretty much any live version of any Babymetal song is good to react to. My personal favorites are "Headbangeeer! Live at Legend M" (Moa sings lead for second half for her 20th birthday), "Meta Taro" Live - Dark Night Carnival and "Road of Resistance Live in Japan" is quintessential.

"Yo yo yo yo. Microphone check, one two one two. Are you ready to mosh? Kitsune da o!"
'Iine' (that is iine pronounced ee-neh) was only the second song they released (it was their third song but 'Ijime, Dame, Zettai' was held back for a later release) and they were clearly establishing early on that all the usual rules of what you can do, what genres you can mix into one song and so on were not going to apply to BABYMETAL.
Iine translates as 'so good' like a thumbs up emoji.👍
So they decided if they want a song with EDM, a bit of rap or hip hop and then that drop into death metal - loved your shocked reaction when that happened, quite possibly the best drop into death metal from hip hop ever - and then back to the EDM to finish who's to say "no, you can't do that". As the song title suggests - it is so good.
In most live versions they drop the rap and it became a call and response ... but that drop is still there and you really need to see a live version where you can see the crowd and what they do.
No the screams are not Su-metal (and definitely not Yuimetal or Moametal either). Any harsh screams or growls in their songs will be on a backing track.
Their very first song was 'Doki Doki Morning' recorded at the end of October 2010 when Su was 12, Yui and Moa were both 11. The video for that was recorded nearly a year later on a shoe string budget. 'Iine' was their next release and video.

I was fortunate enough to have seen them live at Budokan & it was lit as f****. Best concert been to in years!! Su-Metal's vocals were on another level & she played the piano live as well!! 🙀💕 đŸŽč
You haven't seen or heard them until you see them Live. Ladies put out 120% every time and this concert especially was good. It really shows how far they have come between this here & now!!

Welcome to the world of BABYMETAL! As you have noticed, their music covers a pretty wide range of styles. Not only do they feature different subgenres of Metal, but they also fuse them with all sorts of other musical genres (although it's not always as in-your-face as in "iine"). You'll find EDM, Waltz, Hip Hop, Ska, Reggae, Dubstep, Latin and Indian tunes and more. It never gets boring.
As others have already said, to get the full package you need to watch a live performance. Since you seem to like the more playful songs, my recommendation would be "Headbanger", preferably from the "Legend 1997" show. A word of caution, though: Many BABYMETAL videos tend to get blocked. Fans usually know which ones have proven safe, but you can never be 100% certain.

  • @PaleHorseShabuShabu
    @PaleHorseShabuShabu Pƙed rokem

Ooooh, starting with "Iine," this should be fun. Ha ha, "Line," got another one! I'm not exactly sure how Babymetal's producers handle the harsh vocals (someone coming in and straight up growling or if they're normal vocals that are then pitch shifted), but it's definitely not the girls doing actual growls. The harsh vocals are done via backing track at concerts.
"Megitsune" is more representative of Babymetal's core sound. The bridge is the melody from "Sakura, Sakura," a song that's over 150 years old by now and is quite well known in Japan. "Megitsune" is a crowd favorite and is always performed live.
I don't know if the studio musicians have ever been identified (except maybe guitarist Leda Cygnus). Babymetal is only the girls, Su, Yui, and Moa, and even then Yui left in 2018 due to undisclosed medical reasons. They didn't even have live musicians during their earlier shows, just guys in skeleton outfits acting like they're playing while a backing track handles the music and harsh vocals.
Also, slight editing note on the video's titles, it should be Mondays (plural), not Monday's (possessive).

Everyone already filled you in on all this but I'll just add BABYMETAL LIVE is best but they do have some really good official videos too( I do love Megitsune Official Video, Moa sliding around on the floor is just too cute). If you want to feel good and smile like an idiot then just pop on a BABYMETAL Video and enjoy. These girls and the Kami Band are truly unique an amazing. They became my favorite band immediately.
I would start with the early stuff just so you can kind of watch these girls grow up like most of did. It will add to the charm. Also it will help you not get confused when unfortunately some changes occurred later in their careers. đŸ€˜đŸŠŠđŸ€˜

Time to begin your journey down the foxhole. These 3 young ladies have won the heart of an old heavy metal warhorse. Nothing can brighten my day more than watching these young girls (Su-Metal was 14, Yui and Mo were 12 during their earliest videos) perform their hearts out while being backed by truly brutal metal. They have been accused of being a gimmick and not real metal. Nothing could be further from the truth and big names in metal including Rob Zombie and Metallica vouch for them. Sabbaton and Dragon Force have worked with them. There is a delightful video of them sharing the stage with Rob Halford of Judas Priest. They've got their metal creds. They are the youngest act to fill The Budokan (Japan's biggest arena) and sold-out London's Wembly Stadium (they also broke the merchandise sold record at Wembley.) They are the first Japanese act to crack Billboards US top 100 album chart since the fifties. A few years ago, Loudwire magazine said that Babymetal had the most devoted fans (we are called "The One.") So many great songs to choose from. They have a song called "One" which they wrote for their fans. "Doki Doki Morning" was their first release and although most of the time I recommend their live, go with the music video on this one. "Rondo of Nightmare" and "Road of Resistance" are fan favorites. While the hip hop of "Line 4" is not typical for Babymetal , it is revisited in "Papa Ya." Kawaii metal is their genre and it refers to the Japanese cute culture. I'd say this was best represented by "Onadari Daikusan." That Sabbaton team-up is on 'Oh Majinai" and honestly, I could keep going ("Headbanger", "Karate", Ijime dame zettai"). Also, don't let the Legend of 1997 tour confuse you, the 1997 refers to the year Suzuka Nakamoto aka Su-Metal was born not the year of the concert.

  • @Dragonstar-Metal
    @Dragonstar-Metal Pƙed rokem +8

Good reaction but there is one piece missing from the equation... the audience at the live concerts.
BABYMETAL MVs are really good but BABYMETAL excels live. They are one of the few bands that are better live. Su-Metal's (lead vocal), Yuimetal and Moametal crowd control is a sight to behold. The fans feed off of BABYMETAL and the girls (now young women) feed off the fans and the energy produced is nuclear!
Try Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!! Live from the Legend 1997 concert, or Papaya, or Ijime Dame Zettai from Sonisphere 2014 festival.

Specifically Headbanger live at Legend 1997 - if you just search up "Headbanger live" you'll probably get compilation videos with clips from different live shows mashed together. While those are fine in some ways, they're definitely not the best way to be introduced to a song. The performance from Legend 1997 is really good and doesn't have any copyright issues.
Also if you're going to do that one, might as well make another three-song video and round out the finale of the Legend 1997 show. Headbanger was the third-to-last song at that show, followed by Akatsuki (Unfinished ver.) and Babymetal Death. They're an absolute trip together, highly recommend. I have a playlist saved on my channel with the highest-quality uploads I've found of each one for convenience. Hope you check them out!

10 out of 10! One of the best reactions I’ve watched in months. I absolutely love other Japanese groups, but even my favorites follow a typical sound for their particular group. I still love those groups, but they can become somewhat predictable. Babymetal has never been predictable! You might like one song and dislike another, but their is no denying that their sound covers everything. If you don’t like one song, man up and try another. I guarantee you’ll find something you enjoy. They are not limited to one portion of metal spectrum either. They will cover every form of metal from Kawaii Metal (their invention) to Death Metal. Still that is only a minor part of their music. They will combine almost every other genre of music with some form of metal. “Multiple disorders is probably the nicest way to describe it.
I chuckle in the most polite way to know what awaits you if you continue your journey and please do!

[give up give up] Is this a bad dream
[give up give up] can’t stop the power
[give up give up the distortion]
My distorted body is screaming [wow wow wow wo]
    HizDistorted sacrifice hurt me
    There was a dirty world
If distorted words reach me [wow wow wow wo]
I want to grant distorted wishes [wow wow wow woooo]
    Can’t get the power
    Is this the bad dream?
    Can’t get the power
    Caught in the bad dream
    [wow wow wow woooo]
My distorted body is screaming[wow wow wow wo]
Distorted light is robbed from me
    There was a dirty world
    If distorted bonds are over
I will not forget the distorted oath
Even if this world is broken
    [wow wow wow wo]

Also many will tell you this but I’ll add on to it, PLEASE react to their live shows. BABYMETAL is one of those anomalies that sound 10x better live.

When I first heard it I went in to c what they doing. They deff adorable. I didn't think I can like BM but I do. I was brainwashed in like everyone else. Queen Su, Adorable Yui, n Gorgeous Moa are awesome. I don't do Metal but I'm hooked. Not bcuz they Kawaii all over the vids but somehow I'm ok with these Megitsune's doing Metal. The band is amazing. Su's voice compliments the band greatly. If anything Megitsune it's about a girl coping I think. Distortion is a good song tho I don't understand what they saying

After three MVs, you should definitely watch live performances. BABYMETAL is best live. Might start with some of the classics:
    - "BabyMetal Legend of 1997 Headbanger" (recorded December 21, 2013)
    - "BABYMETAL - Rondo of Nightmare Live @ Budokan Black Night" (March 2, 2014)
    - "BABYMETAL - Ijime,Dame,Zettai - Live at Sonisphere 2014,UK (OFFICIAL)" (July 5, 2014)
Reactions to the three videos above are not likely to get blocked.
This one is very good but likely to get blocked. Pause often and put a watermark over the video so one can hardly see it: "BABYMETAL - Road of Resistance - Live in Japan (OFFICIAL)" (January 10, 2015)
BTW: You may want to correct the title of your video. The name of the first song "Iine" starts with an uppercase "i", not a lowercase "L".

by the way just in case no one has mentioned it yet(which I doubt) its iine not line so its pronounced (e - nay). Its a very common mistake so don't sweat it. Enjoy your trip down the fox hole it's deep and fun and just keeps getting better.

And no they dont all sound like that. They cover a lot of music genras.

just like me when I first listen to them, listen to all 3 albums and the new one coming out. also I think they are much better to listen to live, by the way I think the backing vocals is alissa white-gluz for the song distortion.
