    One club player, unheard of today, Loyalty has gone & players now are motivated by money, Noble needs to get credit for keeping Rice grounded as he set's such a good example & i know he does a lot we don't see in welcoming & helping players settle at the club & i can see him saying to all that come to us , Look you don't have to be the best, but the WEST HAM fans do demand you give 100% when you put that shirt on, you do that & they'll adore you, Cheers Mark i did have the pleasure of meeting & shaking hands with you just after our move from the Boleyn, was surprised to see you along with Zamora as you was just strolling the greenway in plaistow, probably on you're way to newham general for another good deed, thx for the memories i was there when you made you're first debut 👏⚒

    I'm almost still in denial. For the last 25 years that I've been able to actively follow West Ham United without having to be lucky to catch the occasional news ESPN would provide, or flying over from the East Coast of the U.S. I know, I may not have had the Bow Bells ringing when I was born, however it may surprise some that Philly sports fans value the same working class ethics, loyalty to club and support and will back a player who leaves it all out on the pitch/field/court/ice every game.
    However, Mark Noble is special, only guys like the Flyers Bobby Clarke (also #16) the Phillies Mike Schmidt, the 76ers Julius Erving "Dr, J" and the Eagles Ron Jaworski "Jaws", more or less, were one club men, some started elsewhere, some left to end their career somewhere but for the most part, they are all Philly legends,
    this was back in the 1970's and '80s when players still valued the true ethics of sports. And, as much as I respect them, they weren't local lads and didn't spend as much time in the game as Mark Noble, which makes him a very rare, and refreshing commodity to a Yank!
    I was always a football fan (⚽️) since I can remember and started played from age 7-13. I started to follow West Ham on a regular basis in the late 1990's. There were some great players that looked like they were about to challenge the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Man U, however, I don't need to remind every one about the turmoil within the club at that time. Well. as a Philadelphian who was was taught that you stick it out with my chosen club in spite of rough patches and enduring little a bit of "stick" from my locals for being into "soccer" and from a small, but vocal minorty of local East Enders who consider Yanks and others not welcome in the "The Cockney Inclusion Zone" 😅
    I eventually leanred to let it roll off my back mosltly because much more were very welcoming to me, and in this time is when Mark Noble emerged. He stuck with the club though thick and thin, which only strengthened these ethics in myself, and rekindled my belief and faith that there were still players in any sport that are truly about the love of the game, and care more about club and community more than their own glory, which has become all too prevalent in the last 20 odd years.
    Apologies for the long comment, however I needed to get it out, and explain how Noble became my favorite athlete of all time!
    COME ON YOU IRONS!!! WE CAN BEAT CITY TODAY ⚒⚒⚒

    • @ECNIV2000
      @ECNIV2000 Před 2 lety

      @colin mackenzie- cheers homie! Indeed, the whole '93 Phils were very "West Ham" in a way, West Ham Supporters would love 100's of players who came though Philadelphia, everyone from Dave "The Hammer" (no shit) Shultz from the 1970's early 1980's Broad Street Bullies clubs who won 2 Stanley Cups, to Jerome Brown, from the "Iggles" who was one of the most vicious defensive tackles who was killed at 27 with his nephew in a car wreck.
      And I'm not sure how far back you go with the Eagles, but there was a guy from Bethlehem Pa right next to Allentown,, about an hour north of Philly, who played center on offense, and linebacker on defense from 1949-62, Chuck "Conrete Charlie" Bednarik.
      During WWII he flew 30 missions as a waist gunner in a B-24 Liberator as a staff sgt from '42-'45, played football for Penn then came to Philly to play, and he gets the nickname "Concrete Charlie because for most of his career, he'd work construction in the summer, because they didn't get paid all that much yet, yes, I'm sure West Ham supporters could appreciate a player like that!
      I saw Jaws live, when me and my Dad went to see them play The Raiders two months before they met them in Super Bowl XV, I was 7 and we had beat them in the regular season game Pop and I went to, so I didn't take the loss very well!
      It sweet finally beating the "Dynasty"!!! (a good transfer window, and West Ham will be tasting some similar glory!)
      Take it easy buddy!

    • @ECNIV2000
      @ECNIV2000 Před 2 lety

      @colin mackenzie and don’t feel ashamed to be a Kiwi, I’ve never met a Australian or New Zealander who wasn’t chill and nice, besides Winston Reid is Kiwi, and, in the near future, people won’t exclude him from a “Legends” discussion, he turned out to be one of our strongest CB’s during the “teens” and could play RB pretty well, too.
      Plus, who forgets who scores the last goal at the Sacred Boleyn to beat MAN URE!!! 3-2!!!!

      Definitely , the history books will show nothing against his name. That’s life. Arguably if you like, if Gerrard hadn’t hit that last minute equaliser in the Cup Final then he would have had a medal albeit he was out on loan and injured at the time. It happens. He just stuck around whilst better players came and went. The fact that both England and any other club never came calling for him puts it in perspective.
