      True! That's one of the best spots for wings. Two mountains next to each other, on cliffy the other with a really long crevasse / ditch. And very accessible with the car, shade under tree...

    @xjet Před 9 měsíci +3

    Weeeeeh... great fun. Do you find yourself wishing these aircraft had rudders... I know I do. Bank and yank is okay but yaw comes in really handy sometimes, especially if you've been doing a lot of quad flying and expect that the side-to-side movement of your left thumb will do something 🙂
    Thanks for the ride Mario.

    • @hirnlegorush
      @hirnlegorush Před 9 měsíci

      if one would build some rudders in the vertical stabs of the Dolphin it should probably work ? the question would be is it supported by inav/ardupilot...

    • @xjet
      @xjet Před 9 měsíci +2

      @@hirnlegorush The dolphin has a fairly short tail-moment so the rudders wouldn't be as effective as on a regular configuration. Personally, I don't care if iNav/Ardupilot support rudders because I almost always fly in pass-through mode. I want to *FLY* -- not just point my plane in a given direction 🙂

    • @hirnlegorush
      @hirnlegorush Před 9 měsíci

      @@xjet Indeed i too like to fly most times without stabilisation xD but in harsh winds i like me some airmode :)

    • @Rcschim
      @Rcschim  Před 9 měsíci

      Not really. On the bigger "Mars 1200 Warrior FPV plane" I have Vtail wit servos - but dont use it that often. Got into some weird stalls when using too much rudder on that plane - so I have some respect (maybe my settings were wrong).
      On a bigger sailplane however - or on something like an easystar / bixler / radian trainerplane, It's nice to bank with just the rudder and keep them wings level...

    • @Rcschim
      @Rcschim  Před 9 měsíci

      @@hirnlegorush sure it's supported, but on my Mars 1200 plane (where the VTails have servos) I dont use it too often....

    Those scenes were actually beyond the abilities of most birds. Thanks for the ride!

    • @Rcschim
      @Rcschim  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Thanks, but I've learnt that most birds can outfly me pretty easily. If I'm too close and they can't lose me, they just fly in the woods ;)
      I read that birds get scared if they see you do a loop. That's unnatural movement for most birds ;)

    • @Videolinquency
      @Videolinquency Před 9 měsíci

      Interesting! Swifts, though - Turmschwalben, I think they're called - may be the exception, I've seen one make a perfect loop around a stray toy balloon, and one made an Immelmann around my UMX model a few years ago. Playfulness and curiosity are forces to be reckoned with ...@@Rcschim

    Nice dives. Some of the longer straight runs look flatter than they really are when looking ahead (centre of video). Noticing the tree and terrain angled off to the edge of video, as a better indicator to the true steepness..

    Those pids from the last video fly far better than stock. I lowered them on the swordfish as well and it flys better but honestly i dont care for that plane much. Dolphin is a great plane though

    • @Rcschim
      @Rcschim  Před 9 měsíci

      Nice to hear. On those flights here I think I had stock pids, but I wasn't happy with stability (also it was quite windy up at the ridges).
      Will test the new penguin soon. Maybe it's a hybrid between dolphin and swordfish?

  • @Mr.Laidukas
    @Mr.Laidukas Před 9 měsíci

    Nice location, nice flying but you need some type of video stabilization to makenthose dives smooth. Gyroflow or alternative.

    • @Rcschim
      @Rcschim  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Problem is: this IS already stabilized ;) (with onboard rocksteady from DJI which normally isn't bad), maybe gyroflow could have been tweaked a bit better, but mainly it was too windy on that day for such a small and light plane....

  • @YT-qp3xw

    How to counteract P Factor of the dolphin? Mine keep on turn/roll to left...do i need to slightly adjust my motor angle?

    • @Rcschim
      @Rcschim  Před měsícem

      Nope, if it turns to the left you need to have servo Auto trim on (we can leave it on permanent).
      But mine still rolls in manual mode, but it is fine in acro mode. So try flying in acro...

  • @erlandfpv
    @erlandfpv Před 9 měsíci

    Using O3 with rocksteady? Looks awesome, we dont need gyroflow or reelsteadygo for this, rock steady its enough for me.

    • @Rcschim
      @Rcschim  Před 9 měsíci

      Rocksteady is good enough - I agree. Gyroflow is a bit more work but gives you more flexibility. On Gopro11 for example, I love to have RAW, unstable footage as large and sharp as possible since I also can take good still images out of it. and gyroflow is quite fast to stabilize...
      Also: I thought since my Dolphins O3 get's quite hot, I turn off rocksteady, to save some CPU power / heat...

      Pretty much on stock back then in June... flying with an 18650 3000mah liIon pack (and not too much power). Stock pids as well.
      So today, with better pids and lipo these flights there would be better I guess...

      @Rcschim go with 21700 cells then it won't be as sluggish with the same flight time
