    I am a hobbyist who owns several high-end orchestral libraries, but I am considering the $299 2023 Musio 1 offer. For me, the Tina Guo Cellos and Gina Luciani flutes alone are worth the price. There are several other libraries that include instruments I don't yet have, especially percussion and ethnic. Extra choir options are nice to have too. I think Musio is a terrific value for a beginning composer needing to produce convincing orchestral mock-ups. If this had been available in its current form a few years ago, I could have saved thousands on expensive libraries.

      Agreed! I’ve definitely overspent on libraries in the past. I truly wish I had something like Musio when I first started as a student but at least now I really appreciate the libraries I spent a lot of money on!

      Same. I'm pretty happy with my current collection and have never used Musio. But since downloading the demo, I'm impressed. This offering is incredible value for $300. I'll probably jump after my next paycheck. "And that's it, no more!" (I promised myself... after Black Friday of course).

    @RobertRodriguezMusic Am I correct in thinking that the libraries in Musio are stripped-down versions of the Kontakt libraries? I noticed that the Taylor Davies violin is missing vibrato control and some other features from the Kontakt version

    Good review, Robert. I just discovered this particular YT channel, I'll subscribe and look forward to more.
    I have several large sound libraries from Arturia, Native Instruments, Spitfire Audio, UVI, and others, but... I do love the idea of accessing Musio's libraries, especially those that are significantly different than what I already have! (e.g., Ancient Bones, Zither, African Marimba, etc).
    I look forward to seeing what Musio plans for the future!. I will likely opt in for their monthly fee if/when I have a project that calls for their libraries. Just like turning off Hulu or Netflix a month or two when I'm not actively watching anything from them, I don't mind paying the Musio subscription when I am actively using the sounds, and turning it off when I am not. I like that kind of flexibility!

      @RobertRodriguezMusic  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Hey there! Thanks for the kind words about the channel- I appreciate it!
      That's a great strategy! We often forget about subscriptions that we don't use and end up losing more in the long run. Good idea to access when needed!
      After getting a chance to explore Musio over the past few months, I've really grown fond of the entire product! Makes my composing process much simpler to have this central hub.

    Yeah, it's seeming like the Kontakt model - where you can go a few versions forward for the same price but it's not unlimited. If I buy Musio 1, then skip Musio 2, they'll probably let me get into Musio 3. There will probably be a free version, a more basic version, a regular, a Komplete, and a Collectors version :D What you haven't addressed is what the deal is with Voxos? Does it work more or less identically to the version available for Kontakt? How does the phrase builder work (I don't have Voxos, but I assume there's something going on there that may not work in Musio- yet).

    I wonder if the mic positions will be treated as an update or optional upgrade

    • @RobertRodriguezMusic
      @RobertRodriguezMusic  Před 4 měsíci +1

      I would have to double check but I believe it’s part of the update! This way Musio as a platform is a bit more unified! The catalog is where the upgrades come into play

    Hi Robert, your vids on templates are great. I'm trying to make a Logic Musio template. I'm running into some unusual problems. Have you created a logic Musio template? please let me know.

  • @TravEllerZero
    @TravEllerZero Před 7 měsíci

    I may be wrong (and apologies if that's the case), but I believe they're still offering the lifetime $999 if you reach out to them. They have said they won't offer it for $500 again.

    • @RobertRodriguezMusic
      @RobertRodriguezMusic  Před 7 měsíci

      From what I understand, the $999 lifetime product is different altogether (& discontinued) from the new $299 Musio 1 license. Now instead of $999 to everything forever, it’s $299 for everything from Musio in 2023- then you upgrade to Musio 2 when that comes out in the future with all of those new library additions, etc.

    • @TravEllerZero
      @TravEllerZero Před 7 měsíci

      @RobertRodriguezMusic they said on VI-Control back in October that while they're not going to have the $999 lifetime pass on their site or offer discounts on it, people can reach out to support and they will set them up. Not sure if they've changed their stance on it since, though.

    Does anybody know if there is a purge option in Musio?

    • @RobertRodriguezMusic
      @RobertRodriguezMusic  Před 9 měsíci

      As of right now, there isn’t because overall it’s really lightweight on RAM. But as they add in mic signals and more DSPs I wouldn’t be surprised if that an option added later on!

    • @RobertRodriguezMusic
      @RobertRodriguezMusic  Před 10 měsíci +5

      To be fair, the $999 tier gave lifetime access to everything including future libraries! Musio 1 is a different take where users will upgrade for future libraries

    So glad I did the $500 early access, but I will be pissed if they try and switch things around on us legacy users/early adopters

    • @ZeroKami86
      @ZeroKami86 Před 10 měsíci

      Still confused about how you get the updates early, I check nearly every day and I checked last night - but only now got the keyswitch update that you mentioned @1:30 claiming it happened "weeks ago"

    • @RobertRodriguezMusic
      @RobertRodriguezMusic  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Something tells me that early adopters will get to keep their full musio access but I’ll be interested to see!

    • @ZeroKami86
      @ZeroKami86 Před 10 měsíci

      Sadly it seems the keyswitching feature isn't really even its own "feature" but SOME libraries have new keyswitch patches, the vast majority of instruments that could have keyswitching don't have it - because keyswitching isn't a real feature yet.

    • @rbingraham
      @rbingraham Před 10 měsíci +1

      @ZeroKami86 In one comment on Cinesamples own little Promo videos of these (which were frankly pretty damn vague), there was a comment from Cinesamples that leads me to believe that those of us that had a Lifetime membership prior to this will still get all updates and upgrades for free. The change does kind of make sense, if too many opted for a lifetime license, then they could be in the money right now but what happens 5 years from now, would they still have funds to keep making improvements?
      Of course who knows that was just one comment on their own CZcams channel. One would assume somewhere along the way they'll have to just come out with a new product of some kind that even folks like us will be required to pay something for. But I feel like we're probably good at least for the short term and hopefully the next few years. 4 or 5 years from now who knows what we'll be using for standard tools in the sampled orchestra world.

    • @kwameryan
      @kwameryan Před 10 měsíci +3

      A Cinesamples representative confirmed in a forum post yesterday that Lifetime Licenses will be honoured with no further payments required…ever. I suppose it’s possible that in 4-5 years there’s a brand new product that they’ll charge everybody for, but Musio is in its infancy, so that kind of event might be even further off than that.

  • @jenstornell

    I feel like no one is using Musio. Everyone seems to be using other libraries like Spitfire, Eastwest, Nucleus and so on!? Is this a desperate attempt before being bankrupt? 😮

    • @RobertRodriguezMusic

      I don't think so. The responses I've seen for Musio have been really positive- even from those first skeptical!

      DON`T think so... in fact , it is probably a VERY wise move from them to : 1 - with a monthly subscription have MORE users... 2- fidelise there user...3 - Probably distancing themself from Native Instrument ( who have bought MANYS business recently like Plugin Alliance and Izotope... ) .
