  • That new board was supposed to take control July 1, 2023. Then on Monday, the Federal Aviation Administration filed a pretty significant letter that changes things.

The state's justification is weak, considering it hasn't laid similar claim to other airports in Tennessee. Besides, it's common knowledge this legislation was merely part of the raft of bills designed to punish Metro Nashville for nixing the '24 GOP convention. No one cared about the Airport Authority before then, not even the people who live here. Maybe they should have, considering its ability to declare eminent-domain on homes and businesses on land the Authority wants to put to "better" use.
