  • Not all worship is the same. Some worship focuses on us rather than God-an outpouring of feelings rather than faith. God accepts the worship that He prescribes, and Jesus said we ought to worship "in spirit and truth" (John 4:23). What type of worship are you engaged in? Is it inspired by God or by a form of idolatry? In this message, Skip Heitzig examines Abel's faith and helps you fact-check your own worship against God's Word.
This teaching is from our series Fact-Check with Skip Heitzig from Calvary Church.

As usual beautifully explained by Pastor Skip, Cain brought the best fruits etc n Abel brought the first born but God preferred blood over the intent.
Also one should respect the basic beliefs n never forget that the God was made know to the mankind world through HIS disciples / saints who visited the countries n instilled our Lord Jesus Christ faith in respective countries that's the basics.... All glory to Lord.

Completely mind blown. I never quite understood why God didn't accept Cain's offering until now. Never connected it with how Adam and Eve covered their sin. Just wow! Thank you!

With regard to “Non Believers” I resort to the old adage “ it’s easier to catch flies with sugar than vinegar.” Too many times in my younger days “Christians” would approach me with vinegar. It wasn’t until I went to Calvary, back when it was off Snow Heights in a old grocery store, was the sugar method used. I remember Skips service used Jimmi Hendrix as a example. I remember there was no passing of the “plate,” but more importantly there was no trying to guilt me into believing. Far too often I’ve met “Christians,” be they Jehovahs Witness, Catholics, Baptist, Pentecostals, etc., that would indicate to me that they had the “only” way. Far too often their actions never matched their words, and this includes some that I have seen at Calvary when I had business dealings with them outside of worship service. I am not a Skipite, because he is a man, and like every man born into sin. However, he is a very good teacher. It’s funny to me because he knows me by another name, a nick name, so I am comfortable in writing this. He is a man of God Almighty, that I know. As for what I’ve learned over the years when dealing with “Non believers” is a Confucius saying; “Who’s the bigger fool? The fool, or the person arguing with a fool?” I try to let my actions speak for me because my words have a tendency to make me look like a fool. I am by no means perfect, in fact far from it, just forgiven. The only fault I have found in Christianity is in the “Christians,” and I have found none in the teachings of Christ! Thank God Almighty for Skips gift of teaching!!! Had it not been for a sermon long ago I would have still been lost in the desert.
