Hey Kaleb, at least you will have had a head start on my project. I had to scrounge another motor for all the miscellaneous parts I needed that were only on E38 &E39 cars.
do you have a parts list available? I too am interested in swapping in a m62 and im wanting to retain my manual transmission. here in the states these motors can be had for less than $500
@@banarcus yeah swapped the sbc in mine with very little problems only thing I had to mod was the steering rod and pound the trans tunnel for the 700r4
Afternoon from England can you post a more in depth photo of you air con pipe and your chassis notch. Trying to the same here but I’m getting the feeling your suction pipe could be different Cheers
I want to put the m62 in a sedan, was it different from a coupe or a custom all the same? and so it is better to immediately buy an engine from e38 or e39, without vanos?
Hi. Coupe and sedan are the same. E38, E53 and E39 M62 will work. I have a 2004 E46 with so the electronic throttle body work with my pedal. I used the M62TUB44 with the vanos and fly by wire throttle body.
Hi there, power wise, this engine standard has 210kW(282hp) of power and 440Nm(325lb-ft) of torque. Mine will have a little more based on tune and exhaust mods but dollar for dollar, you would be better off installing an American small block V8 or in SA, go a Toyota 1UZ V8. I did this to keep the car mostly BMW(gearbox is out of a Ford) as I'm a bit of a purist. When it's on the road, I'll probably add some boost via a supercharger. We'll wait and see. Cheers!
I've got to get the tailshaft modded, buy and fit another radiator, buy and fit a coolant expansion tank, get an intermediate shaft, finish off the exhaust and get the air-conditioning regassed. Then it's off to be engineered.
Hey mark, are you using the dme to trigger the fuel pump? I'm finishing up my conversion and I can't get pin 10 on x60004 to trigger the fuel pump relay. On my wiring diagram it should earth the relay
Thanks Mark, I should mention my setup is in a e36 and I'm only using the dme with ews removed from dme. My relay is standalone but wired up as the diagram suggests, 12v switched to relay pin 86, pin 10 x60004 to relay pin 85, 12v battery to relay pin 30 and relay pin 87 to fuel pump
Hi Espen, I used the V8 harness and plugged it into where the M54 harness goes. There were some differences though. I had to swap a couple of wires where the V8 DME plugs into the cars harness.
Hey mate, absolutely yes!! Just try and find a M6* transmission as my transmission choice needed custom work. Go get the same oil pan and engine mount kit and you will be set.
Hey Dion, I once saw a video of a similar conversion as mine but with an E36 and it was in SA. If you search for E36 M62 you should be able to find it. Thanks
Holy Dooley that sounds good! Leave the vacc leak, sounds like it has cams 😂
This one has to be BMW smooth hehe
Good stuff mate. I’m inspired to try this swap myself
Thanks mate :)
HEY HEY . ill get that bit done mate this week .. looking good . power has been on and off all week with the new subdivision out back
Ahh all good Matty. I'll give you a plug in the next video
Currently taking the m62tu out of my e38 and putting it in my 325i sedan

dang i thought my sbc took up alot of room in my e46 you win lol
SBC or LS would've been so much easier with the rear drop oil pan.

@@russell76531 350ci? Even with the auto, that would be a weapon!!

Hi there, I'll cover that in the next video plus the A/C stuff. Cheers
Dgarto I’m in England and can I buy your swapped car?

Good day I'm from South Africa and looking into this tipe of swap, is it worth it power wise and how difficult was this to build

How much are you in the build roughly ? Looking to do one as well

Did you have to wire in your pedal or was it electric already?
Hi, as this car was a facelift car it already had that pedal in it. I did modify it to suit a manual transmission though.
Hey mark, are you using the dme to trigger the fuel pump? I'm finishing up my conversion and I can't get pin 10 on x60004 to trigger the fuel pump relay. On my wiring diagram it should earth the relay
Let me check Daniel

@@dannyperez2k11 that should work with what you just explained. Have you bridged the contacts to see if the fuel pump fires up?
What does it look like in terms of the location between the chalice? R6 VS V8
Very similar but the V8 is more in the centre. Fits very well. I bought the kit from Adamat in Poland.
did you use parts of the old wiring harness on the v8?
Hi Espen, I used the V8 harness and plugged it into where the M54 harness goes. There were some differences though. I had to swap a couple of wires where the V8 DME plugs into the cars harness.
Thank you!
Mate did you modify the oil sump?
I bought the sump and engine mounts off ADAMAT Performance in Poland. Only then I had to modify an E39/E38 oil pump to suit. Thanks
How about engine mount?it is same or have to modified?
Different. I used engine mounts from ADAMAT in Poland.
Can I do this in a four door I just bought the same year
Hey mate, absolutely yes!! Just try and find a M6* transmission as my transmission choice needed custom work. Go get the same oil pan and engine mount kit and you will be set.
will this swap work on a 323i?
Yes!!
What year swap is this
2003 chassis, 2002 engine
Sorry I have a e36 328i
