  • Finally after what seems ages, I have fired up the BMW V8. It wasn't all smooth sailing though.

      Hey Kaleb, at least you will have had a head start on my project. I had to scrounge another motor for all the miscellaneous parts I needed that were only on E38 &E39 cars.

    do you have a parts list available? I too am interested in swapping in a m62 and im wanting to retain my manual transmission. here in the states these motors can be had for less than $500

    Afternoon from England can you post a more in depth photo of you air con pipe and your chassis notch. Trying to the same here but I’m getting the feeling your suction pipe could be different

  • @Choozy71

    I want to put the m62 in a sedan, was it different from a coupe or a custom all the same? and so it is better to immediately buy an engine from e38 or e39, without vanos?

    • @banarcus
      @banarcus  Před 3 lety

      Hi. Coupe and sedan are the same. E38, E53 and E39 M62 will work. I have a 2004 E46 with so the electronic throttle body work with my pedal. I used the M62TUB44 with the vanos and fly by wire throttle body.

    Good day I'm from South Africa and looking into this tipe of swap, is it worth it power wise and how difficult was this to build

    • @banarcus
      @banarcus  Před 3 lety +3

      Hi there, power wise, this engine standard has 210kW(282hp) of power and 440Nm(325lb-ft) of torque. Mine will have a little more based on tune and exhaust mods but dollar for dollar, you would be better off installing an American small block V8 or in SA, go a Toyota 1UZ V8. I did this to keep the car mostly BMW(gearbox is out of a Ford) as I'm a bit of a purist. When it's on the road, I'll probably add some boost via a supercharger. We'll wait and see. Cheers!

    How much are you in the build roughly ? Looking to do one as well

    • @banarcus
      @banarcus  Před 3 lety

      I've got to get the tailshaft modded, buy and fit another radiator, buy and fit a coolant expansion tank, get an intermediate shaft, finish off the exhaust and get the air-conditioning regassed. Then it's off to be engineered.

    Did you have to wire in your pedal or was it electric already?

    • @banarcus
      @banarcus  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi, as this car was a facelift car it already had that pedal in it. I did modify it to suit a manual transmission though.

    Hey mark, are you using the dme to trigger the fuel pump? I'm finishing up my conversion and I can't get pin 10 on x60004 to trigger the fuel pump relay. On my wiring diagram it should earth the relay

      @dannyperez2k11 Před rokem

      Thanks Mark, I should mention my setup is in a e36 and I'm only using the dme with ews removed from dme. My relay is standalone but wired up as the diagram suggests, 12v switched to relay pin 86, pin 10 x60004 to relay pin 85, 12v battery to relay pin 30 and relay pin 87 to fuel pump

    • @banarcus

    • @banarcus
      @banarcus  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Espen, I used the V8 harness and plugged it into where the M54 harness goes. There were some differences though. I had to swap a couple of wires where the V8 DME plugs into the cars harness.
