Yes these boats are fast and extreme but where is the human side of the sport for the fans? The human dramas. All we will see in the up n coming regattas are the tops of some crash helmets bobbing up n down. No way to tell if things onboard are going well or badly. Sail GP is still the more entertaining watch for sailing sports fans. These boats may as well be sailed by AI.
It's the pinnacle of the sport and it's a sport that has always been a marriage of human and machine. There is still plenty of the human element from what I can see and hardly a big difference compared to what Sail GP?
The Americas Cup has always been a design race and I hope it never changes away from that. If I wanted to see one design yacht racing where the crew make all the difference I would watch almost any other sailing race.
