Great job with the knife, but I have one recommendation for the leatherwork. If you ever want to add an old leather tooling patch, try to match the color and finish. The color contrast is too off for me.

I had a knife just like that when I was a kid. (a replica, not original) You could buy them for kids back then because they were taught well. Of course, that's when I was Jim Bowie on occasion. The tip eventually was broken off and the knife discarded.
Nice restoration, but I don't like the sheath.

I have a neighbor that has one of the largest bowie knife collections I've ever seen. Damascus is his preferred steel, but he literally sold half his collection to buy himself a new truck. I had no idea that there was such a robust market for bowie knives but he has some that are worth over $8,000 and look like jeweled masterpieces. But he doesn't have any other hobbies accept the knives, fishing, and entering amateur cooking challenges.

@@dieteh I appreciate your concern, however, if you read the other posts, others agree with my assessment. As far as showing you what I can do, I don’t need to prove anything to anyone. I cringed when I saw shoe polish being applied as a dye. all one has to do is CZcams on how to dye leather. I have a degree in advanced materials and design, including leather work. I have been involved in holster and sheath making for almost 40 years so I think I know what I’m talking about without having to prove myself to someone I don’t know. Have a nice day.
