- Old broken hunting knife restoration. I bought this old rusty knife at an antique shop. The hunting knife had a broken handle. I decided to restore the knife. I removed the dirt and rust and made a new handle out of kap maple wood. The handle is very similar to black marble. I hope you enjoyed my restoration video.

@@ReXtorer the vinegar will work better if you heat it up to about 95° and that will make Clean up a whole heck of a lot easier on the metal Parts

Looks like a 50s or 60s knife. I have two Westerns from that period that I restored, but I never take them to mirror finish. Most didn’t come that way. Nice job. Thanks 🎸🔪

I like the refurbishing of both the knife and sheath. I especially like the sheath insert that would prevent any accidently falling and the blade cutting into your leg... I would say a 10 for the polishing effort and blending into the handle material and bolster. Looks very good! Thumbs Up!

Excellent choice for handle, maple has a beautiful pattern and it is sturdy this is a working knife. Beautiful restoration, that is a quality steel knife.

Beautiful restoration, although I have mixed feelings about removing all of the patina from old tools.
Same here, depending on what is and if it will be used or just stuck in a drawer to admire from time to time. A buddy of mine gave me an old Smatchet years ago, with no handle and plenty of rust. I finally decided to give is a new life, in spite that it was made during WW1. Sanded it spotless, reprofiled it into a heavy Bowie and used some eucalyptus burl for the handle. It turned out amazing but sometimes I feel bad because it was so old and historic. Oh well. At least now it has new life and can be admired.

Excellent work indeed. Despite it i give 8 of 10 Points. The much abrasive work with that metal brush in the beginning and the different metals together in the vinegar are my points. Your craftsmenship is absolutely a 10 of 10.
At least a 9 out of 10 - I really like that handle! Would love to know more about the quality of the blade - how well it holds an edge and everything. Great video!

New guy here, I really enjoy your videos. I too do restoration on all kinds of things. Lots of knives, and furniture mostly. I am working on a Mahogany veneer night stand right now. It is so hot here though I only work on cooler days until Fall. I would rate this 8/10 only 8 because I'm surprised you didn't put a pin on the tang to better secure the handle, which by the way is really pretty. Also, sometimes in the background I hear a dog, maybe a wolf/dog , howling ? It makes me picture you working at a shop deep in the Ural mountains, covered in trees and snow. Anyway, liked and subbed. Stay safe my friend.
