OZ9 combat, v1, and I switched the extractor to Glock oem and it’s been 100% reliable now. 3400 rds since buying in November and it’s hands down my favorite edc.
I typically get a blue label stock Glock, then throw a Zev slide on it. Their slides are fairly affordable and ROCK solid. Might have to try out a full Zev build one day.
I do love the Zev line and shoot them well. Their LE discount is nice as well and customer service is great. That said, broken striker is catastrophic and I feel the market is filled with really solid, reliable options. They should be able to figure out the striker issue by now. There are videos of people with staccatos, Glocks, HK’s etc with over 10k without catastrophic issues.
ive always wanted a zev, and even more so with this video. As you mentioned I do a lot to my Glocks to get a few things that come standard in the Zevs and price point of upgrading the Glock does get up there and even possibly more. CA problems 🤯
Great video. In terms of regular maintenance, cleaning, and lubrication, is it the same as a glock? How often do you clean and lube your oz9? Less maintenance than a 2011? How many malfunctions unrelated to ammo between shooting all your OZ9s? You own how many OZ9s? Have you ran the radian ramjet + afterburner? If yes, any thoughts? Thank you sir
@@SpecTrainthis is literally a quote from their website on the V2 OZ9. “OZ9 V2 slides are a hybrid design that combine upgraded Gen5 internals and Gen5 barrels with a Gen3 recoil system.”
@@eamonshields2754 correct. You will notice the word Glock is not used anywhere. The entire gun is Zev parts, many of which are compatible with Gen 5 guns.
Great video. I use two OZ-9s for competitions. I wish zev made a heavy grip module. Steel or Tungsten/Polymer. Yes I know they don’t cater to competition shooters anymore
That is quite a few rounds to put through a pistol on springs/ parts. Do you know what kind of round count you can realistically expect to get with Glock OEM springs and striker?
I have a Gen one OZ9. Both locking lugs on the barrel sheared off. Only had approx 2k rounds with the majority of that being 115gr training rounds and about 100 "duty" rounds. Also was attending a Sage Dynamics class and had one of my screws back out but I know that was on me and not the gun. The last thing that happened was the slide stop lever broke off during another training class. I did like shooting it till I went to staccatos.
I've seen the barrel lug issue once, also seen it on other guns including a canik in the middle of a stage last week at nationals. Very rare but it certainly can happen.
What lbs recoil spring are you using in ur v1 and v2 OZ9? the stock is like 17lb IIRC. Would you consider changing out to a heavier rod(Tungsten) + light recoil (11-13lb) spring or just leave it OEM?
Ran the v1's stock most of the time. Ended up running a 13lb springco when I really trying to tune it in. But lot of variables there including ammo. Running the v2's with the setup they sent in it exclusively so far for testing purposes.
aluminum is essentially the same weight as the polymer within an ounce or two, I shoot both with and without a WML often and don't really notice the difference.
When y’all gonna start teaching advance courses? Ever since Chris left years ago I feel like the company and training have gone to shit. It went from teaching to being the Bill Barton show

Literally just picked up a combat for $600!! Waiting to be shipped!

Zev told me that the V2’s internals are Glock oem gen 5. Including the striker.
No they didn't. They might have told you or meant that the internals are Gen 5 compatible, but there isn't a single Glock part in the gun.

@@SpecTrain I see. Gotcha. I really want a V2 Hypercomp but reliability is a concern. Would you still recommend?

Do you prefer Magpul, Glock, or something else for your OZ9 mags? And based off the video I’m assuming you keep the Zev mag catch?

Alot
most springs are recommended around 15k, the recoil springs is supposed to be closer to 5k actually but most push it well beyond that.

Have you try the aluminum grips or use a light for adding weight

Can we even buy these?
Will the OZ9 fit Glock compatible holsters?
sometimes, more likely to work with a light-bearing holster and does work with safariland. Better off looking for an OZ9 specific model though.
34 length next to impossible to get. . . .
