Glock or Glock Clones - Which is Right for You | Glock vs Shadow Systems vs Zev OZ9

- In this video I’m going to discuss in which roles choosing a Glock is a great option and in which cases choosing a Shadow Systems or Zev OZ9 is a good option. I compare and contrast them and discuss what makes each a better choice and the downsides of each.
I love the looks of some of the clones however I’ve never had to worry about break in periods and have never had a failure with a Glock. The 3 top pistols in my carry rotation are a Gen 5 19, Gen 5 17 MOS, and 43X MOS.
I’ve never had a malfunction with any of my shadow systems, but I do get your point. They call it Glock reliability for a reason.

I too have been thru all the phases of Glock & Clones, Shadow Systems & Zev being the best.
I carry the OZ9 Compact X in the winter months & swap to the std grip in summer or carry the MR920.
Thank you. Buddy uses the OZ9 compact with x grip too. He just threw an afterburner on it and it’s amazing how flat it shoots. Just an awesome set up if you have the $$

Great video. Thanks for sharing. Just subbed. How many rounds do you have through the OZ9 setup? Any malfunctions unrelated to ammo? I've heard of reliability issues mainly due to their slides/barrels or when using magpul mags. Also heard of folks switching to glock OEM for the extractor and firing pin for reliability - heard of any of these issues yourself? Lastly, you think the radian afterburner is worth it - can it really make the zev that much flatter than it already is, and is the noise/concussion worth it? Thank you sir
Thank you very much. I have 1,100 rds through the zev and only had 1 fte after the initial issues. My buddy actually does put in oem Glock internals in his zev, but I am keeping mine stock because I haven’t had any issues past 500 rds. Ran a class the other week and it was flawless so I trust it. I do think the radian/afterburner is worth the price. There is an obvious gain in performance from using them, so if you’re considering getting one I’d highly recommend. I personally don’t have one because they aren’t making the full size models yet, but I might get one when they come out.

Just switch out the upper internals to Glock oem and you should be good. My buddy has 2 and he put oem Glock internals in both and they run great. I should have done that to begin with but thought it would work itself in. I was wrong.

Saw that. Buddy sent me the link because I wanted one for my gen 5 Glock, but I’m going to hold off since I just don’t shoot it these days. Going to wait till the gen 3 one comes out and I’ll throw it on my OZ9
Does the Shadow Systems slide function on the Zev frame
That’s a great question. I have no clue. I don’t see why it wouldn’t because the ss is a gen 4 slide and should function on a gen 3(oz9 platform) lower, but I honestly don’t know. Looks like I’m going to have to find out though.

Haha, except that I have one on almost every gun I own. “I don’t find them very useful if I’m not doing speed reloads” is what I should have said. That is a carry gun only so I don’t do speed reloads often with it
@billdrill22 I like the looks plus it holds my hand. They are a must for me.
And on a 19 it’s the opposite for me. It gets in the way of my grip. Some frames will lock my hand in, on larger guns, but on the 19 they do more harm than good.
My buddy is the exact same way. Before he buys a gun he researches the magwell options for it and if there aren’t good choices he won’t buy the gun.

Glocks are great and if you know how to paint that canvas glocks are way to go.
It took me a few years to figure that out, but if you’re looking to customize your gun it really is the way to go.
