    I was hitchhiking through California back in the 1970s, and actually got "stuck in Lodi." Since I was a big Creedence fan, I sang a few lines for fun.

    Lodi is a small dusty town in the central part of California. My father-in-law was a county western singer and spent his years traveling from one small town in CA to another playing in bars and dance halls. Lodi was just one of many stops he used to make!

  • @annemaclean6634
    @annemaclean6634 Před rokem +25

    Had a quick look on Google and Lodi is a small agricultural community in California's central valley. Apparently the song describes the plight of a down and out musician playing gigs at local bars. After playing there, he doesn't have enough money for a bus fare so he's stranded. I'm not sure if I've heard this song before - it's beautiful isn't it, lovely melody. Another fantastic song, which I think you would love, is Pagan Baby, one of my favourites, apart from everything else, brilliant guitar solos. I've got it in the car and listen to it a lot. Other favourites are Effigy, Travelin' Band and Up Around the Bend. You're absolutely right, George, there's nothing like classic rock!! Another fab reaction to a superb CCR song, thanks so much, guys, really enjoyed it. Take care now. ❤❤

    Do you know, guys, I've been re-watching some of your really early reactions, songs like Sultans of Swing Live (Dire Straits), Highway Star, (Deep Purple), Locomotive Breath (Jethro Tull), High Hopes Live (Nightwish), Fade To Black (Metallica), Comfortably Numb, Pulse (Pink Floyd) and Sounds of Silence (Disturbed). It was brilliant, brought back lots of great memories, fantastic reactions from two years ago! You've done so well, guys and now you're coming up to 50k subscribers, that is brilliant, and I'm sure you'll reach 100k in due course. Thanks so much for all your great reactions, George and Patrick, always really enjoyable. 👍😊

Keep up the good work guys!!!☺

      @@Jules-um4yy Hi Jules, yes, it's fun watching the early reactions again, in the early days of course, George was introducing Patrick to music that he loved and it was great watching Patrick's reactions and how he really got into classic rock, for example Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple! Now they're reacting to music that's new to both of them and again, it's fascinating watching their different reactions.😊

    Excellent song & reaction guys… I grew up with the music of the 60s and 70s.. There’s nothing like it today. It was musically exciting because there were tons and tons of variety, each with a unique sound with melody and often meaningful words or stories. They were talented and creative and they cared about the quality of their music. So nice to see that appreciated by you guys! Thank you! 😀

    I agree with you guys, older music is just magical, so much wonderful stuff washed over the world and saved the people, over and over again, very few modern hits from now will have that same effect, with such easy access to make something for everyone nowadays, few real artists still stand out, but Classics are Classics :-) thanks guys!!!

    Lodi is a small farming town in the central valley of northern California, if you look on a map the central valley begins in Redding and runs down to past Bakersfield which is quite a large area and where the bulk of California food crops are grown...anyways Lodi is just this small little dirt town, lol...nothing special there, I always had an appreciation to CCR for making this song about that town, I always wondered how they came to create this song and why....anyways yet another great song from CCR

    My husband loves to tell the story about how, doing some scientific fieldwork, he spent a week in Lodi one night.
    It’s really a depressing place. The Central Valley of California is not the tourist view of the beaches and National Parks. It’s an area you just want to drive through as quickly as possible. Farm country with lots of migrant labor snd poverty.

    Well, I think that you should get into more of CCR, you'll rarely, if ever, run into a bad song of theirs. I can't listen to them without being taken back to when my brother and my mom use to play their guitars and they'd play "Bad Moon Rising" or "Green River", such memories, maybe they're still playing together in the afterlife. Lodi was a bit of a sad one, not my favorite but, still has it's place in my memories too. Great reaction guys!

  • @KandKs_GG
    @KandKs_GG Před rokem +4

    Isn't language, especially place names, such a funny and fun thing!
    Many world languages pronounce an "i" (or the Roman alphabet of what equates to "i" in their native alphabet) similiar to an English long "E" (as in "beet") sound rather than the English long "I" (as in "eye") sound.
    Lodi, CA, USA was said to be named after either a similiar town in Illinois, or a local racehorse, or a bridge in Itally.
    If the latter, it's particularly odd that it should be pronounced with the long "I" sound.
    Many places in North America have Native American names. Whether the pronunciation of the I or E sounds in their names is represented in the Roman alphabet spelling by an "I" or an "E" is largely dependent on whether the area was settled (and name translated to written word) by French, English, or Spanish settlers.
    Languages are SO interesting!

    Get in your car and drive to Lodi, CA😉 This is such a simple song in many ways, but it's so powerful as well 🥹 John's real troubles happened when he had the publishing rights to his songs-- all these famous CCR songs- taken/stolen from him years ago. He just got them back. That's why he stopped playing with his band and troubles ensued. He couldn't even play HIS OWN MUSIC THAT HE WROTE - without paying royalties to 🤐🤬😡😤🤑......
