    You said that about the string, when my Grandpa passed we went into his barn, yes His barn. The first thing I came to was a wooden crate the size of a large refrigerator and it was labeled “String to short to use, NO WIRE”. The strange thing is no one ever was allowed in HIS barn, so why label the crate? The string weighed over a hundred pounds. That wasn’t the only strange and ridiculous contents of the barn, but that would take way more time to list. Good video.

    If you need to make an adjustment to the fence and don't want to walk back to the charger to cut it off, you can temporarily 'short' the fence out. Easy to do, just wee-wee on it.

    Prompted by this video, I installed a test "pen" using a Daken solar-charged energizer and 50 m (~162 ft) of netting. 24 hours after putting my three boar goats (who are EXTRAORDINARY escape artists), they're still in the pan. Only took one zap, each, for them to learn. Gonna pick up another couple of sections to enarge the pen, or use 'em in a line to partition the (larger) paddock they're in now.
    Important: This type of fencing does NOT work well at all when the ground is too dry. We've been in near-drought conditions until a couple weeks ago. After the rain, ground was wet enough that I've got good (6000+ VDC) voltage all around the fence.
    Great video & tips! Thanks

  • @allenferry1268
    @allenferry1268 Před 6 lety

    It would be interesting to see if the voltage drops as the soil dries out with that short ground gizmo. I've noticed that it also looses some of it's zap when the surface dries I presume due the goats not having a good ground thru their hooves.

  • @Ham68229
    @Ham68229 Před 6 lety +1

    When we ran electric fencing for our cattle, we couldn't allow weeds, grass, etc. to touch the wire, instant ground. There were a few brands that still allowed it to "zap" through but, most generally discovered they were being grounded. Is this fencing the same way? Great video. Cheers :)

    What is the difference between Premier One and a Powerfields Fence that requires a standard electric fence charger. Premier One does not seem to offer an A/C version fence charger, making a set up about $450 . ..versus approx. $250 using Powerfields with a standard A/C charger. I don't need a solar charger.

    Josh, no reason to install the u-shape ground first. You can have it installed already on the unit and then just hold the main unit (NOT solar panel) with two hands on either side, push down and rock side to side slightly and the grounds will go right in....6 of one, 1/2 dozen of another I guess.

    I just want to say one thing about Mrs. Stoney Ridge. I want to be as absolutely respectful as possible and not hurt anyone's feelings or be disrespectful in anyway. "Sorry I feel like
    I have to preference my comment so no left-wing butthurt person can say anything like I am some male chauvinistic Pig". My comment is simply I find your wife is as a very very pretty lady!
    Please don't take offense to that comment. Far too many people think that making a comment about how attractive a lady may be...is chauvinistic or racist comment "or whatever the buzz word/s of the week is"...
    It really bothers me that a man can't verbally appreciate the beauty of any women without being labeled a pig/jerk/as@/$>/#...or whatever....
    Personally the most beautiful woman in the world happens to be my wife...no offense to your wife or any other mens wifes at all...
    But when did it become a crime to appreciate the beauty of anyone male or female??
    I have never met a women that did not really appreciate a well mannered man said..
    Opps sorry for the rant Josh, but I just got my behind chewed because I said that the lady in the picture on another video was very pretty....apparently I am a real arse for thinking a lady happens to be very easy on the eyes....????
    Sorry..I did not mean to do a PC rant...I just think you have a very pretty wife and I am tired of getting called names and being labeled just because I appreciate beauty!
