It will soon be June and the Wise Woman Way training will be moving towards the Summer Solstice on the Celtic Wheel of the Year. This is when we celebrate mid summer and meet with the Goddess Áine . This is a transpersonal, healing course using craft work, working with plants and plant medicine and calling on ancient shamanic and druidic techniques.

The INGREDIENTS for the sunscreen are:
4oz or half a cup of Organic Coconut Oil
4oz or half a cup of Organic Shea Butter
2oz Beeswax (or Jojoba Wax)
2oz infused oil - I used St. John's Wort Oil and Calendula Oil that I made
20-30 drops of Organic Carrot Seed Essential Oil
10 drops of Organic Lavender Essential Oil
10 drops of Organic Rose Oil
1 Vitamin E Capsule
DIRECTIONS:-
Melt the Coconut Oil and Shea Butter over a very gentle heat with the beeswax, St. John's Wort Oil and Calendula Oil. Add Carrot Seed Oil and let it cool. Perhaps put it in the fridge for a few minutes until it begins to harden. Whisk well to make a fluffy lotion and add the other essential oils and Vitamin E. Whisk/whip again and put into clean jars. This amount filled three 60ml jars.
It glides on and feels luxurious and hopefully will tempt some good weather for us!

Good morning! Glad you could join us 😊
Love this so so much! Thanks a lot for sharing your wisdom!
Love seeing the nature, your dogs & the bird too! ALways look forward to sundays to see you
Thanks!
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoy the videos xx
thank you for this I have been needing a sunscreen recipe
Hope you like it! I think it is lovely and effective xx
Thank you for this! I am an Esthetician and would never recommend chemical sunscreen, for the reasons you gave: it is designed to be absorbed by the skin, and absorb the sun’s rays- in the skin. I find it horrifying not to mention the thought of these chemicals going into the coral beds and water ways.
I can’t wait to try this recipe! Just a note on the coconut oil that when applied to the face it can be highly comedogenic- if you suffer from acne, it can clog your pores. I might try substituting with jojoba or raspberry seed oil (raspberry has a SPF of 26 💖) I love all of your videos, thank you for everything you share!
Thanks for the reminder about Raspberry Seed oil. Wonderful! xx
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden so could I use the raspberry seed oil instead of the St. Johns Wort? Having difficulty accessing the St. Johns Wort.
I recently discovered an intolerance of habitual use of coconut based deodorant causes skin reaction in my daughter.. I remade the deodorant using avocado instead.. Just shows we are unique 🙏
@@debbietodd8547 BE careful. DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH FRIEND.We all have different skin types and sun exposure. Just that I have very white Irish skin , sensitive. Sadly surgery for skin cancer like my mum.I really do prefer to cover up and just kick the white people need to tan thing.
I absolutely love your Sunday videos. You’re the first thing I look for on CZcams every Sunday like clockwork. Fabulous.
Same! ❤
Glad you like them! Thanks for watching xx
The doggies playing in the background so cute. ❤️
Beautiful happy dogs ❤
They are, so much fun xx
The demystifying value of this video is impressive..
Thank you xx
I love your video's Terri, as a person who has had 3 malignant melanomas removed ( yes I am Australian)i can't recommend your sunscreen, due to using coconut oil and some of your other ingredients in my youth this is where I find myself now having to have 3 monthly skin checks for the rest of my life to keep onto of this beast
Hope you stay well x
Wishing you the best
I was shocked when diagnosed with the second type, have to go for skin checks to after surgery
I'm Irish and I never sunbathe, I prefer the Moon! But I do remember getting very badly burnt when I was a child, we didn't really know back then.Thought you had to burn to get a tan!I'm told Australia is good about protecting children in the sun.
Thank you, so very much, Danu! You help us so much with our learning. Your videos bring me back to my Granny's home. A place of peace, common sense (not so common these days 😔) and love. I am 67. I was born in USA, but my family came here from Ireland. 🍀🍀🍀 May you find many blessings in your life 🙏🙏🙏 along with much joy. ❤❤❤
Joy and blessings to you too, I hope you have peace in your garden too xx
Thank you! I miss my grandma! You are so much like her! Some recipes remain in my head, but you are super helpful 🙏
I'm so glad! That's wonderful xx
Perfect!!!....
This is exactly what I've been looking for... Thank you 🌿💚
You’re welcome 😊 glad to help xx
I LOVE watching the dogs playing in the background, they embody joy! Of course, the neighbor horses are utterly delightful too. This is such a timely video, thank you for sharing it with us. Blessings to you both, to all the animals, plants and all the unseen helpers!
Blessings to all of them, they do so much for us. Hope all well with you xx
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden All is well here. I practically live outside these days, working in the gardens, enjoying the warmth of the sun and the abundance of life all around. When I bought this little cottage 22 years ago, I asked "them" what they wanted here, it was a blank slate. I drew the map I saw in my mind and promptly misplaced it. Then I realized I needed to take one step at a time and tune-in at each stage, trust and see what developed. 3 years later I found the map and sure enough I'd been guided to create what was drawn there. It's a sanctuary for all kinds of critters and people who need healing peace. What "they" continue to do amazes me, so much beauty! Blessings!!!
Thank you Terri I look forward to making this ❤
Hope you like it! Xx

You’re being photo (camera) bombed by your lovely dogs, it’s just made my morning extra special to see them enjoying the day. 🤗
So glad! I love it when they are so playful, you can't help but smile xx
Thank you, Terri! I passed this along to a friend whose daughter is allergic to zinc which is in a lot of sunscreens. I love that you provide alternatives to some of these ingredients. I have another natural sunscreen recipe that I've used before, but I think I will try yours or maybe blend the two; it also calls for shea butter, coconut oil, and beeswax. Frankincense essential oil and patchouli essential oil also provide sun protection. Lots of love from Northeast Florida! 🌞💚
Thanks for sharing!! So many great recipes once we start xx
Terri, you read my mind! my friends at yoga asked me last Tuesday if I could look into making a natural sunscreen and here you are!! ThanK-you. Much love from the corrupt state of New York.
Great timing. Hope she likes it. Every state is corrupt these days including ours
Thank you🌹happy puppies ❤ will try this ❤️
You're welcome 😊 - it is really lovely!
Good morning from the Arkansas Ozarks. Still planting.
Good for you, keep going! Xc
Thanks for your insightful `Kitchen Witchin` suggestions Danu . Blessings and Appreciation , and hope the warm winds blow for you soon
Thank you and hoping that will be the case xx
I live in Florida 🌞 Think I'll try this for daily use❤ Sending you some of our abundant sunshine 🌞
Thank you!! We need some warmth 😊
Merci beaucoup !!

Hi Terri and Lol and the horses and doggies and all the wonderful beings in your oasis!!!! Melatonin is produced by the pineal gland, our inter-dimensional eye, between other things!!! I love the sun and the heat, I absorb it as if it is water!!! Thank you so much for the recipe I will try it out. My siblings are half albino, so it becomes handy, I am the only sibling with regular amount of melatonin!!! I love the wind!!! Thank you for walking around your house and showing it to us !!!! 😃🙏🐝🌹🍀🍎
You're welcome. Hope you like the sunscreen xx
I believe you are talking about melanin here. Very different from melatonin.
Oh my goodness! That makes so much sense re the sunglasses tricking the system. I do try to get natural light to my retina first thing each day....but on sunny holidays I tend to wear sunglasses. Thank you for the Light bulb moment Terri! 😁💝
You are so welcome! I think sunglasses can be helpful at times but it is a great idea to be looking at our beautiful world without them too. xx
Try to leave your sunglasses off for about twenty minutes and substitute a sun visor. You must let the sun in behind your eyes
Do you use olive oil to infuse the St. John's Wort?
Thank you for your research about the sun, sk8n, and creating this recipe.
What breed of dog is the naughty little black and white guy? I need one like him😊❤
I know! Can't believe I didn't realise that 🤦🏻♀️
Thank you, Terry and Lol. Living on the tip of SW FL with LOADS of sunshine all year round, natural effective sunscreen is a MUST here! My skin looks much younger than many here who want to be as dark brown as they can get at the pool and beaches. I have fun there too, but protectively. The skin cancer rates here are astronomical. Thanks for your recipe and a beautiful breath of 'fresh air'.
Hi and how are you? Lots of very fresh air here 😂. Hope you enjoy this sunscreen xx
I've put coconut on myself and family for decades.. I don't consider the suns rays as cancerous, but the products we use.. You're absolutely right about timing, shading and hydrating.. The sun is indeed lifeforce.. Our ancestors didn't use anything but nature, ty Terri.. Adore your vids.. 💚
I totally agree. There were far fewer cases of cancer before sun screens and inside jobs. The sun is life!!
It's been cooler than normal and always windy in Wyoming.
I remember way back when we used sun tan oil. It had the best smell and maybe had coconut oil in it? It was probably better than what came after. I didn't use much of the sunscreen. I always thought it didn't feel right on your skin. Great recipe! Blessings! 🙏
Blessing to you in windy Wyoming from windy Connemara 😂
Your place is SO lovely! I live in America and enjoy watching your content.
Thank you so much!. You are very welcome to the channel xx
Thank you! I will be making this :)

No way I randomly find a fellow Kieler in the CZcams Channel comments of an Irish herbalist! Liebe Grüße :D
Well that makes a lot of sense here. It may be warm but the winds are freezing. Blessings to you Daggy xx
Thank you for this video, gratefully appreciated!❤
Glad you like it xx
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden ❤️
I always learned that Saint-John's wort makes your skin phototoxic, which means it makes your skin very sensitive to sunlight, especially when you ingest it. It can also cause a phototoxic reaction on the skin when applied topically but that goes away once the skin has absorbed the oil, so I would leave that out but apart from that, great and easy recipe, def making it for my trip to Greece this summer!
I have always learned that thst is a myth when talking about natural, the plant SJ W. The oil is a treatment for burns so... I have heard that synthetic SJW can cause a photo reaction so...
Thanks for the recipe, I did make it ,not using beeswax I used jojoba ,I used 2 oz calendula and 2 oz st johns wart ,and I used everything else on the list .
Mine came out a light pink and is not real creamy maybe I can add more jojoba wax ,so I'm keeping in frig to see if that helps ,but my skin feels wonderful.
I use St. John's Wort infused extra virgin olive oil as a sunscreen, and I've not had a sunburn in years, I live on a farm and spend a lot of time outdoors.
Do you have a substitute for the calendula? It irritates my skin for some reason. Thank you!
@@terryjackson984That’s fascinating
Love your doggies! I laughed when you spelled
" W A L K" I have to spell that also. Now I noticed he picks up on the phrase "Go for a" 😮 😅
They are too clever 😂😂
Wonderful video ... and I loved watching the dogs play!!! 🌺🌻🏵
So glad! Dogs are great fun xx
What an amazing informative video!! I never knew that about sunglasses 🤦🏻♀️ oh how much we have been deceived! Thank you 🙏🏼💖
Glad it was helpful! xx
I very much appreciated this video Terri and Lol. I'm going to make this sunscreen for myself and family. I have instinctively followed all of your recommendations all of my life. I have the very Irish white skin, as does my son. I make a Calendula face salve for myself and friends, with Jojoba oil, beeswax, vitamin E and orange e.o. It is empowering to be able to create a skin care product that makes a difference without worry of potentially damaging additives. 'Tis a beautiful, sunny warm day here in S.E. ON. Have a great week both of you. I'm looking forward to next Sunday's video. Bee 🐝 well.
Thank you, hope you stay well too xx
Informative, thank you
You're welcome!
I would caution against using St. Johns Wort as it can cause photosensitivity, increasing your risk of sunburn. Although it’s good for treating burns after the fact. Perhaps Danu has experienced otherwise, sometimes the books don’t always match the experience. But just so people are well informed.
From my training, I understand there is some confusion. St John's Wort Oil does prevent burning but any synthetic form can cause photosensitivity. I intend to put this to the test the next warm sunny day 😊
That’s good information to know, thank you for clarifying the difference! I look forward to the conclusion of your experiment.
Personally I wouldn't recommend using oils for sunscreen.
"A good whipping..." I about spit my coffee out of my head!🤣😆
Thank youuu so much for this lovely recipe. I've just had a basal carcinoma removed from under my eye...This film was perfect timing for folks getting ready to enjoy more time in the sun!! Blessings in abundance to you and Conroy Cottage xx
My pleasure 😊 glad you enjoyed it and hope it's helpful xx
Thanks for this! There are still rays coming through even on cloudy days, reflected by particles but not with the heat.
Yes so this sunscreen is nice to you as it is light xx
You're a gem, Terri. I so agree with you over the hysteria regarding the Sun. We're even seeing a return of rickets!! i didn't know sunglasses restricted seretonin production, thanks for that information and thank you for this recipe, which sounds like a lovely, moisturising one to wear. This is on my list of makes.XX
I hadn't heard about any return of rickets, how sad. Enjoy the sunscreen, it is lovely to use xx
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden Yes, in Scotland in particular, so I understand.
One of my viewers mentioned your channel and I am very glad to find you! I have been producing organic olive oil infused with St. John’s Wort for 20 years. The only issue with St. John’s Wort is that it can cause foto-sensitivity in some so I always recommend that it is used away from the sun, in the evening! Best wishes from Greece.
I always enjoy your films! I will make some. Fantastic lesson. I dislike wearing sunglasses and I wear floppy hats etc. thank you Terri and have a wonderful week. 💚🌙🌿
Glad you like them! Hope you have a wonderful week too xx
The dermatologist advised Vichy , because I’m very light blond and my skin is white white 😎 so I can not even go in the sun, but I, going to try yours , ingredients sounds better then chemicals ❤️ thank u for the film , loved it 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
Make sure you sleep in a dark room and research the ingredients in the Vichy and the SPF of any ingredients you choose to use
I'm glad you addressed this issue Terri. I've been making my own skincare products and sun protection for a good few years. I mostly don't measure anything. I use coconut oil, shea butter but this year I've begun using up the oils I've infused over the Spring. At the moment I've added a nettle olive oil. I also have a calendula one ready and a comfrey. It doesn't really matter which one. I spend most of the year in southern Spain. I go to the beach for a few hours every afternoon. I don't burn as my skin is accustomed to the sun. I have a parasol for the hottest part of the day. For your followers I would add that if you have sensitive areas (for me it's around the eyes and the chest), after I've put on my oils I put on some Zinc Oxide (very cheap, buy a kilo). I just put it on any brown spots and around the eyes. That gives a total sun block. You could also make a mix with the zinc, but it will be very white. Best to cover up if you're burning. I also knew that about the sunglasses. Andreas Moritz (RIP) has a video on CZcams and other tips about sunbathing. I also like to let the seawater dry on my skin and soak in and seawater is fantastic for my hair (I don't shampoo it). So I hope this helps your listeners. Remember not to wear sunglasses except for driving, instead were a sun visor as I do
Thank you so much for sharing with us!! From very sunny and hot Tennessee 🌞💛
I am aware of the Zinc oxide but there are difficulties then with nano particles and getting the right kind so I don't use it. thanks for all your sharing xx

I remember the Australian rhyme - from 11 to 3 stay under a tree. Not sit and roast - tourists aren't called lobsters for nothing! I'm just weathered from being outside all year round - I've never been so brown before and my lily white skin hasn't burnt either - a lot of it down to wind because the sun hasn't been round much. If I feel it getting hot, I go inside or under cover. As far as the hottest, record breaking spring - I haven't noticed it. It was hotter 34 years ago - I was on maternity leave and it was a hot year from March - methinks they are telling porky pies.
I think they are. Someone shared a comparison between a weather report from 8 or so years ago with higher temperatures than now, but it is today's temps that are portrayed in red!!! We know what is going on 😂
Lol! Yes we do!! xxx
Thank you for the lovely videos. My little granddaughter is outside every chance she gets. This is timely I love the ingredients you are using. Carrot seed oil; I will have to look for that!

Watching your videos is the best part of the week! Thank you. Cold sounds wonderful. It was 90 degrees Farenheit (32 Celsius) here today in balmy subtropical Georgia (U.S.A.) with 97% humidity. We will always have problems when we are out of balance with nature. In the U.S., for example, many people are the descendents of Northern European immigrants, but the U.S. is much further south. Where we live in Georgia, for example, and it is as far south as North African. And the sun and heat are every bit as intense. No wonder people are vulnerable sun damage. There is mounting evidence that so many of the factory made/corporate marketed "remedies" do more harm than good with dangerous chemicals. Natural is always best. Thank you for another wonderful and helpful video. Peace be with you friend. 🍀🥀🌻🌙☀
Peace always John. Wow, when you put it like that, that is such a reminder. Newfoundland is on the sale latitude as us yet I always think of it as being so cold and northerly. How do you cope with that humidity?? Enjoy your sunshine xx

This exactly what I have been needing. Your pups make a day happy by watching them. What do they you give them to make them healthy? In southern united states the sun is mercifully high in uv rays. Now a mosquito repellent is in order.
Hope you enjoy it. Repellent coming up in future xx
Good to have this recipe. My dog, as a very young dog, made contact with Asian hogweed with her nose. Last year I had to put sunscreen on her nose all summer because of sun sensitivity from this incident. It worked although the dog hated it. I later discovered that even though it was "organic" it had chemicals in it which are suspected to be endocrine disrupters. So far this year she's not reacting as much; but if she does, I will have another option.
Poor thing. Hope she has learned her lesson, curiosity usually gets the cats😂
Wonderful! Love your videos and look forward to them each week! I made the sunscreen and absolutely love it! Giving some as gifts too. 😍
