    Although I've been doing those kinds of upgrades for years, I have to congratulate you for explaining all things properly and in detail. Your material is also useful for people like considering buying a laptop but having difficulty finding info about it's upgradeability, since even manufacturers usually give little to no info on that (free slots, etc) which is of course very unfortunate for many of us.
    Good job brother, subscribed, keep it up

    Hi there. My Insp 3593 came set up as a RAID array with the m2.sata and the mechanical SATA drive. The drive activity is always pinned at 100%, so I thought I could relieve that by upgrading the SATA drive to an SSD drive. But I'm not clear on how to do that given that I'm coming from a RAID setup. Do you have any tips on how to replace just one of the two drives of the RAID array? Or another strategy? The SSD (Crucial) comes with Acronis cloning software. Thanks!

      If you dont have a SSD, swap out your hard drive first for an SSD. Then upgrade your 4GB RAM to 8GB. It will double the speed of your computer.

      @blahblahblahblah2837 Před 4 lety +1

      @@sicguan4223 Hi Cguan, Im no expert myself, but I think to improve bootup speed and performance when running programs, you do need to shift the primary drive to the SSD. Otherwise the computer still has to read the system information off the slow drive right? You can use the slower secondary HDD for storage of things you don't use as often (photos, videos, big datasets etc). There is lots of software to help shift all of your stuff from one drive to another and sometimes new SSDs come with that software included

      @BrueComputing  Před 3 lety

      You can fit 2 x SSDs, one 2.5" SATA and one M.2 2280 NVMe type drive.
      Capacity should be for whatever will fit, so up to 8TB in each.
      Realistically I'd consider the follow (Amazon Affiliate links):
      SATA 2TB: amzn.to/3i0ENnp
      M.2 2280 NVMe 2TB: amzn.to/38to60r

    Thank you so much for the video! Just 3 questions
    I see your M.2 has 2 pin openings but the slot on the laptop has 1. So it will still work?
    Also, I'm planning on buying a 250GB M.2 NVME drive with only one slot, should this SSD fit and work? Lastly, if I only want to ad the M.2, is it still necessary to disconnect the power cable. I feel a bit nervous pulling out cables. Thanks again!

    • @BrueComputing
      @BrueComputing  Před 3 lety +2

      Yes, the SSD has 2 keying positions so it'll fit in to B or M keyed slots - it works just fine. Its a PCIe 3.0 2x drive.
      You don't HAVE to disconnect the battery, but I would recommend it, it means you aren't going to accidentally be disconnecting and reconnecting things with the laptop turned on.
