    Question of the Day: What is your favorite method for showering?

    • @sandracarpenter144

      Probably the gym membership. Yet an occasional truck stop would be nice as well. For ease, the soapy sponges. 😊

    How to set up shower "stall" in back of NV 200. Open back doors (parallel w/van). Place dowel rod (or tree branch) across top of van doors.Hang a sheet (or blue tarp) over dowel for privacy. Take shower. Tip: cut a few inches off each end of dowel rod so it lies flat on top of doors.

    This is the first video on this subject that actually showed what these facilities look like and how to use them. Good job! The Scrubzz and that water sprayer bottle are great ideas! I did purchase a pump shower similar to the one you have, and after testing it I am amazed how little water one really needs to shower well. Not on the road yet, but I am slowly preparing myself for some trial runs before I go all in. Thank you for your VERY informative video!

    • @BunnyPlaysHere
      @BunnyPlaysHere  Před 2 lety +14

      I think part of getting out on the road and the intimidation that we have on some of the shower facilities is that we don’t know what they fully look like. We don’t know how they work or they just are a bit iffy to us. That’s why I definitely wanted to show the truckstop shower especially because I know that I’ve heard several people make very cringe worthy statements about truckstops. But if you go to one of the big guys like pilot flying J or loves your always guaranteed to have a decent set up because they have standards they have to maintain. As for state parks each one is a little bit different but at the same time the basics are all there. I think that that’s also one of those things that’s very important to kind of get an idea of what to expect. As for planet fitness I was very fortunate that I was able to film inside so people can see Just how nice it really is.

      @@JamesJones-kr9uv I completely agree I’ve never had a bad situation at a truckstop especially whenever you go to some of the big three well I guess for actually LOL but a lot of people have a preconceived notion as to why truckstops are based on that old history and I think that that’s where we need to start showing things like this so that people understand that not only are they safe but they’re also welcoming. I know there’s a lot of people who don’t even like to stop at a truck stop to get gas because they’re afraid of the situation and I think that is absolutely ludicrous. So I’m hoping that by videos like this people can understand that truckers are just cool people on the road to LOL

    I would rather spend the money on a State Park site and get a shower too. Sometimes they are just not available. Also, with a day pass to a State Park you can almost always go take a shower, especially if they are a pay shower, then they never mind. I just love State Parks so much. I travel just to go to them so they will be my number one favorite place to shower.

    There are two wipes options I can suggest. Ready Bath cloths are used in hospital and elder care facilities. A thicker larger wipe than the usual baby wipes, you can do your entire body with one cloth most of the time. Sold at Amazon you can get them in a case of 8 packs totally 150 wipes for around
    $50.
    Epic wipes are towel size wipes made from bamboo fiber which makes them biodegradable. These wipes are are about 32 x 20 inches. Start at the top of your body down to your toes, skipping your nether parts. Do the nether parts last and toss it away. You can get a pack of 100 in 10 ct packs for about $25. Good alternatives in my experience. My go to is my Planet Fitness Black card.

    I have not used the Scrubzz Bath Cloths, I'll have to try them out.
    Other options:
    • In Texas with the State Park Pass you can use the showers anytime without an extra cost or camping for the night.
    • Baby Wipes: Huggies 99.9% pure water extra thick. (I add about 1/4 cup of water to the bag)
    • Shower Pouch Full Body Wipes (About $5.00 per use) I really like these, but they are expensive.
    • DUDE Shower Body Wipes (80 cent per wipe) they are large and thick!
    BTW: Truck Stop Showers went up a $1.00. From $12.00 to $13.00. In California It's a $1.00 more.

    A lot of people are used to taking showers every day and when you go on the road it's kind of hard to do so I've trained myself over the last six months instead of taking a shower every day every three to five days during the time that I'm not showering I'm using the baby wipes which are working out fantastic. But thank you those soapy wipes you started the video off with that's soap up I don't need to rinse I'm going to order a pack and try him out. As always stay safe stay strong stay healthy God bless and enjoy life sending a big Santa hug.✌✌💖💪🎅🚌🌻👍

    “Hair journey” 🤣🤣🤣 so true👍

    • @BunnyPlaysHere
      @BunnyPlaysHere  Před 2 lety

      Absolutely. I think that we all have a different kind of journey that we are on when it comes to our hair and that no to people should be defined the same way based on how their hair type works. Therefore it’s inappropriate for me to try to tell somebody how to properly do their hair whenever I have the wrong kind. For example I would love to have curly hair however I know that a lot of my curly haired friend struggle with it so it’s a very different way of maintaining and taking care. Or even in this thread alone I had one woman who asked me about drying hair especially whenever it’s thicker I will never understand that struggle LOL

    Great ideas!! I also like to keep a small container of rubbing alcohol and cotton pads with me for freshening up between showers. It evaporates quickly, so it won't leave moisture behind (important in cold weather or high humidity). Also, it's cooling to the skin, so it's awesome in hot weather.

    Lume deodorant is another great addition for nomads. I still live in sticks & bricks & my hot water heater went out. I can’t afford to replace it right now so I ordered that exact shower pump you’ve got & I love it. I’m in no hurry to fix the water heater now. I heat 2 gallons to boiling & add it to 2 1/2 gallons cold water in a 5 gal bucket & it works great. I use much less water than I used to & I have zero complaints. It takes a little longer to plan a shower due to heating the water but other than that it’s great. I take it all camping & me & the grandkids are able to stay nice & clean. And, I love those sheets! Thanks for sharing!! Ima be ordering those for camping as well.

    I have the USB battery Shower and it works great! I put a rod between my two rear doors to hang the shower head and clip a towel across the doors and my shower stall is set up. I also tested the battery to see how long it would run. After 45 minutes - I gave up. Plenty of showers in one little charge.

I sometimes will take a picnic blanket and stretched across the back using my industrial magnets but I also have a pop-up shower tent. HA! I hadn't thought about Garbage Patch Kids for a long time! I've had pretty good luck asking about showers at private or municipal campgrounds, and they'll often let you shower for a few bucks. (This usually doesn't work at State Parks, where they reserve facilities for paying campers, though.) One place I regularly travel to has $3 showers at a town campground, and then I camp outside of town on free national forest land. Outside the van, I use a Helio foot pumped shower, which is also what I use to clean off my kayak before packing it up, so it does double duty. But I might have to check out that bottle for quick rinses, so thanks for sharing!

      Glad the video can help point you in the right direction. There are so many unique ways to keep clean but these are a few that have been working for me in the last 5 years!!

    For cleansing without much water I use a product called Aloe Vesta.
    I have been using it for years for daily cleansing and during travels and never have had any reaction to it.
    (My Mom used it in the nursing home for 5 years back in the early 2000s)
    It is a foam that you apply from a pump bottle, then wipe around (similar to the foam wipes you used).
    The directions say you do not need to rinse, but I usually like to take a damp washcloth and wipe down afterward.
    BTW: it also says it can be used as a shampoo -- although I have never tried it -- hair is too long for that!)

    I always pick camp sites where gravity works. That way I can pore the warm water over me.

      I also use that, but I have found that it’s handy to also have other methods because in some areas I haven’t been able to find planet fitness locations even though I typically do pretty well sometimes you just aren’t close to the gym unfortunately
