also it really bothered me that he never really went on an aircraft killing spree with the 14.5 nor used it to delete the paladins he came across (which it does beautifully I might add)
I recently spaded it. It’s really a good TD. 14 AP and 6 HEATFS and you can go on a slaughter.
German tanks have thin sheets of metal plating to stop early war APHE I think it’s add on armor to stop AP round that explode on contact
Broke my heart when you clicked the B shell to research first instead of the D shell - the OG nuke round
Tbf, the B shell has better penetration on angles and loses less pen over distance. Just doesnt have 230mm of pen. It also has like triple the explosive filler
I love my tank destroyers and SPGs, but I probably only suffered through this one because of the thumping great heavy MG on the roof lmao

Thankfully the grind of the Su-122-54 wasn't so bad for me. Since I wanted to skip such (great) tanks as the IS-3, T-44, T-44-100 and a few tank destroyers, I was stuck with the SU-122-54 for a long time. I must say that fully upgraded su-122-54 plays pretty good against 7.0 / 7.3 br vehicles. And the 20 mil autocanons can really save you from some nasty rats (like Foxes).
HEAT round seems weak. I've had a number of APs bounce off of Tigers and Panthers using this vehicle. Makes me want to go back to the SU-152 where at least I can pen everything in use at that BR.

И зачем играть на кумулятивах? Для 6.7 у него очень пробивные каморники. А если бы их и не было, при таком калибре не вижу особой причины не зарядить подкалиберные

Heat is actually really useful at 8.0 but for 6.7 i agree APHE is way better
Russian 8.0 is so bad that this was pretty much my only viable tank at 8.0 💀
