One homeless person on our streets costs taxpayer's, national average, $50,000 a year. Most of those costs come from hospital stays.

There’s no war on unhoused people. I would argue that more people would be willing to help if more of the unhoused were open to it. Many instead refuse to go to shelters (bcuz of rules), trash the communities they camp in, and engage in activities that disrupt nearby neighbors.
Up until the early 1930's, in Philadelphia and NYC, the homeless could sleep in the basements of police stations.

Maybe if he was just homeless, he wouldn't have died from the heat. But, seeing you insist on calling him unhoused, which makes his situation sound so much better to your delicate bay area sensibilities and less guilt-inspiring thus making it easier to justify your role in his plight...was his undoing?
