- This one has been on my list for many many years, ever since I first heard about it almost 15 years ago now! The exact location has always been a bit of a mystery... some saying it was part of the popular theme park close by, others saying it was on an old campsite.. it took us around an hour or so to find it, climbing up & down cliffs, fighting our way through stinging nettles & thorn bushes... but it was well worth the effort! It is between 50 & 60 years old now and as you can seen the British weather hasn’t been kind to it. Its a shame it can’t be saved, but whoever owns it now obviously has better things to do so unfortunately it will probably one day fall to the ground... hope you enjoy this weeks video guys 🙂

This boot was build on private land around the 1930s by a loving father of many children .
The children bedtime fairy tale stories that their loving father read every night were brought to life. The children were led blind folded into the fairyland they heard so much about in the bedtime stories and were amazed when opening their eyes.
Sadly never finished as the father went to war .
The magic the children once experienced still lives on in all those who discover it.
The land is still privately owned and the present owners don't like people trespassing but you guys would be welcomed because you have so much respect. Great video so thanks.
I will provide updates to this post as I awaiting a call from the landowner to find out more...
Thanks for sharing that! What a great but sad story. Sounds like he was a wonderful man.
Thanks 😊
Wow...amazing!!!
I've lived on the island since 2005 and spoke to so many local people and they haven't even heard about the boot house and are intrigued about it. I have so many people trying to find the history of it but very little is known sadly. I've shared your video with a lot of people and they love it. Love your channel mate. Keep up the good work keeping us intrigued!
This is one of my favorite videos of yours ever. Imagine what that place used to look like. Wow! I really hope some kids were able to have many years of fun there. Your buddy nailed it with the Willy Wonka song. 🥰 🍭 Also, I think it’s funny that you guys wanna get out of England for a holiday and all I wanna do is get to into England!
Check out my reply to the real story of this boot..
@@notworthaquid7611 I did! Thank you so much for sharing that.
If I remember correctly, it was part of a play park/fairytale Park back in the early 1980s as I went there when I was young. The boot had 3 levels (that is shown) accessed by ladders. The park had a wild west area as well as other fairytale type areas. I did have photos of the area from my time in it. Those were the days when you could take a day trip on public transport from the mainland. Place was called Blackgang Chine, it had gravel paths all around the park.
I love how respectful you guys are with the locations you visit. Respect!
"There was an old woman who lived in a shoe.
She had so many children, she didn't know what to do.
She gave them some broth without any bread;
Then whipped them all soundly and put them to bed."
A nursery rhyme about King George II
The IOW is an amazing place to go.
That place is so cool. What an awesome place to play as a kid! I'd love to have seen in back when it was new.... fantastic!
Also I'd love to see the shoe restored, I'd pay to stay there!!
Thanks for sharing this mate 👍🏻🙂
Great find/explore. In New York State in the Adirondack mountains there was a theme park called Fairytale Land. It was geared for children and featured nursery rhymes, poems and other children stories. My parents took me and my sister there in the late 1960s. It too featured The Old Women Who Lived In A Shoe, that had almost the same concrete boot. Gee, this makes me feel so old. Fun stuff for kids then. 👊👍
What an enchanting building the boot house is. You half expect to see fairies dancing around. Magical place. Thanks for the walk around.
What an amazing play house, or an unusual guest house. It must have taken a lot of patience and time to do what they did. Thanks for sharing.
Magical 🥰 🧚🦄 I have not been to the IOW for many years so it was wonderful to see it again - you are right, the beaches are lovely 💕 thank you for yet another fantastic explore 🌟 I hope Tilly and your gorgeous little dog are both well 🌟
Love your videos Colin. Beautifully filmed, genuine care for the things you visit, no swearing and you show us amazing places like this and other places full of aircraft or cars...what's not to like?! Keep up the good work 👌
What a loving father building this for his children's playtime.
We have one of these here in Pennsylvania not too far from where I live. It's not abandoned, though. It was built in 1948 as advertising by a man who owned a shoe company, and he rented it out to honeymoon couples for a while. It's also been used as an ice cream shop and a few other purposes and is now open for tours. I think there may be a restaurant in it now but I'm not sure.
58 years of living on the Isle of Wight my hometown and I've never heard of this. That's incredible. I thought I had seen all of the island
The fairy tale is
There was a old women
Who lived in a shoe. She had so many children she didn't know what to.She gave them broth without any bread, And she soundly put them to bed.
Such a lovely poem with this nice search you made.
Thank u so much.
What a fun explore. You had me cracking up, seriously. I am very fond of your usual intro though. There are pants that are sold where you can zip off the lower part to become shorts. They were helpful to me when I used to go birding.
There was an old woman who lived in a shoe.
She had so many children, she didn't know what to do.
She gave them some broth without any bread;
Then whipped them all soundly and put them to bed.
Must have been built by a Peter Pan like father for his children, must have been a wonderful enchanted like garden in its day. Beautiful find thanks.
Once the video started and you were exploring- Somehow I just knew it was the Isle of weight, many happy memories of Holidays there as kids with my cousins from Gosport, now next time I visit my mom I’ll have to dig through the family pics, definitely been in the shoe and around the site as a kid - thanks for sharing- you guys make a great team 👌🏼
Without travelling back to the UK and seeing my folks and checking out the old 'photo album but I'm sure the shoe was purple?
I wonder why nobody does it up? As you said as an Air BNB it would make a fortune! ❤
'There was an old woman who lived in a shoe - she had so many children she didn't know what to do..........!!!' What a fascinating idea - must have been part of a children's theme park or something. Thank you for the effort you put in to find it!!! Gill
"Adventureland", as it was known, was a play park area for children. The crooked house (at Blackgang Chine, which has now been moved) once stood here also. The remains of Adventureland include a seesaw structure, the brick remains of a wall that surrounded the crooked house originally stood, "Mission Control" (a Nasa-style space control room with levers and buttons) and an old Wicksteed roundabout. This area was accessible up until very recently. Over the opposite side of the road is the derelict "White House" guesthouse.
@@stevedavis9072 Thanks for the info. Sounded like a fun place for kids.
@@gillwyatt8103 it was I started going to Blackgang in the 70's loved it.
Then over the years every 2 years and have seen it get smaller as the cliff has disappeared in to the sea.
This area is not Blackgang Chine, this is privately owned land
This was very exciting and wish some one would restore and finish the boot. Oh what fun it would be to play in it. Thank you so much
Hey stokze back on another swing don't blame ya looks great swing ....mad though no rope test first lol ....blackgang chime super place to visit esp as a kid with parents ....good video 👍 cheers both of you ,look forward to next ...
Thanks dude yeah you know me love the old swings haha! Naa no rope testing 🤣 if it of snapped that's fantastic content! 👌🏼
so beautiful in those woods 😍 , Thats so COOL !!! A BOOT , BET KIDS LOVE TO PLAY IN THAT BACK IN THE DAY ! THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS BEAUTY !!!!!
Well done guys such a fabulous and dangerous find, would love to know the history and see some photos when it was in use 👍
I've got to ask how many pairs of shoes has Mr bearded explorer destroyed on his adventures. He goes through some pretty sketchy terrain. Brilliant channel though 👍
What an awesome place, I really should consider exploring now my children are getting older, I have always loved exploring, buildings and cars. I am grateful their are people out there like you and Stuart giving me something to at least watch, people who are respectful and fun at the same time! Thank you!
I was glued to the screen watching this and goose bumps covered me .How magical... and would love to know more about the history of this place..
Hi Colin nice to see you both had a lot of fun today, that boot house is amazing never seen anything like this before. Great idea to make it into a little hotel this must have been quite a job to build it and getting all the materials up there, great explor thanks for sharing
Lovely find 😍 thank you so much for documenting this one xx
Love the isle it’s my second home. Lots of history, very haunted and plenty of places that u would like to discover mate.
Breathtaking best ever explore with plenty of laughter along the way🐼😻🐼😻
18:53 reminds me of when i was young playing and exploring in our massive garden we used to climb the trees and swing from the ivy beautiful area ✨
What a little gem the boot and castle is. I have never heard of the IOW having a hidden boot in the woods. Loved this video. Been ages since I watched your videos Colin because I'm not a car enthusiast but I do share your videos with someone who is. Xxxx
Awesome explore. I enjoyed every minute of it. Too bad it's so overgrown. I think you guys have earned a nice hot cup of tea. Thanks for sharing and stay safe.
I am sure visited this place in the 1960's when i was a child when we went on holiday to the Isles of White
This is absolutely my new favourite of your channel! 💖 What a phenomenal place!!! The entire video was wonderful throughout. I'm 47, never left the UK mainland either except for Lindisfarne Island that you drive over the causeway too! Finally I'm not the only one 😊😂
Amazing video,👍what a beautiful place,I just love the fairy tale boot house, yes,it must of looked fantastic in its day! Thanks for sharing this lovely vid🤗
I love how excited you are about it. And also appreciate the time and effort it took to build
"take only photos, leave only phootprints." Imstokze literally did that. 😂 Amazing place. If I had that kin of place in my yard, I definetly would clear it up and fix it.
Absolutely loved this! Forgive my crazyness I can't be nobody else other then me! Love this guy! 😀
Wouldn’t want you any other way buddy haha
That intro was outstanding 😂👍.
Hi Stuart, you and Colin go well together , you should do more together. Like you I haven't ventured far, England and Wales for me in my 42yrs, my kids have been further! West Midlands girl who slipped over to Northamptonshire to live, though still visit Birmingham most weeks!
@@michelleGeoghegan Yeah here's hoping I do venture further! It's a short time that we are here! So we need to make the most of it! Always nice to hear from you
@@ImStokze I commented further up that the shoe would of been ideal for you 🤣🤣 and yes time is short in the grand scheme of things so we need to make the most of things, a realisation I am coming too lately.
Great video. Beaming smile in my face throughout . Great to see Stokezy. You both work together amazingly well👍👍👍
What a delightful, wonderful, fun video. You and Stu make a great pair of explorers. Thanks for making my day. This was so good
Wow amazing!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
Nice Adventures..
Love the IoW. Had many great holidays there.
Sydney Australia has an abandoned boot. It was part of a theme park that closed in the 80's
Search on utube people living fairy tale boots. I think you will enjoy. 🇬🇧👍
What an interesting video.Love seeing you two together exploring.x
Thanks for the explorer. Amazing place and the story was beautiful and sad. Great video!
" wow " how cool is this love it thanks for sharing another cooooool video stay safe my friend catch you on the next one 😀
I used to go to blackgang chine with the cubs but i dont remember the boot or castle , Great explore !
I think this is the old blackgang theme park as I Do remember a 2 level giant boot and a fairy castle... I'll try an dug out some old photos.. 😉
It was all part of the old part of blackgang chine, it's part of the children's play area, the cliff gave way years ago and blackgang had to be moved, there was a huge landslide, it's on the old blakegang road, that's no more , and as you found out, there's a lot of cows up there roaming.lol😂😂
Wondered that. Loved Blackgang Chine as a kid especially the cowboy town
Just realised it's Nursery land.
It is not part of Blackgang
@@dawnlovejoy8917 not a part of Black gang chine it's another boot on private property. As you know boots etc come in pairs and this was the left boot the Blackgang Chine one I assume is the right one. 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
@@1MartinWaite Thanks. 😹
Loved your explore,we look forward to seeing them, watched most but never commented much.you 2 are great, keep safe.
Two of best explorers
Just to mention, those saying this is Blackgang Chine, it’s actually a bit further round the island than that, and the old boot is still actually at Blackgang Chine as I’ve been there recently 🤪
I thought I remembered a old boot on Isle of Wight in my childhood. Had flashbacks seeing this. Must have been from blacgang chine.
Same, I had a mad memory of a boot like that
Imagine been the kids that once had all this.... What an amazing place to grow up in.....
So sad but so cool thank you for going and sharing ❤️
Amother great find loved it thanks for sharing take care xx
i love it so muchhh!!😢 I'm old enough to love fairy tales stories🦋
That's not the old theme park boot, the theme park boot was open at the toe so you could walk through. I never knew about this place, I wonder if it was built by the Dabelle family.. love to know more. Great video as always
She said boots the house down mama yes gawd✨💖👌🏼🧌
Wow how cool is that boot👍🏼 great explore 🌹
"Have fun storming the castle" - Princess Bride. LOL
Well that was a bit different! What a shame it's all overgrown...nice singing btw. Enjoyed the video immensely guys!
You guys awesome. Thanks for the video .
Thanks for the video, it was worth the 15 year wait.
Just near to where u are is the blackgang chine fairytale nursery maybe its connected in some way with them.
Now that WAS an explore, well done you 2.
Thanks. For sharing some great finds 😀
Remember when kids played outside?

Very cool something for me to check out Colin off to isle of wight in a fortnight,we break away from Kent 😎, another enjoyable video 👍😎👍
It was just wonderful. Thank you .
I was looking for this yesterday - asked in the pub, locals, passing cyclists. Everyone had heard of it, but no one knew where it was.
Witam Serdecznie i Dziękuję za eksploracje ciekawą.Pozdrawiam Serdecznie Całą Ekipę ♥️♥️♥️🇵🇱🇵🇱🇵🇱💐💐💐💐👍👍👍👍

Great explore mate I would love to go on a explore with you and stu 👍😀
Awesome Video Love This Where Was It Located ?💕
Very very cool thanks!👍❤️
imstokze what a tool you've gotta love him ? wheres lola lol
Seeing “blackgang chine” in the comments, I was very confused. It sounds like some sort of mafia or gang, nothing to do with kids at all lol. I looked it up, so now I know but it still sounds very odd lol.
If you was at the most southern point of the Isle of Wight then I'm sure it was part of a theme park that suffered a landslide 30 plus years ago, I'm sure you could find videos of the boot and castle on YT to confirm on the findings in this video. Great video keep up the great and interesting work bud.
Blackgang Chine Nurseryland
As an islander I can confirm that this had nothing to do with Blackgang, it was built in a private residence for their children
@@Countrystock Can you help me place somewhere I used to go as a child in the late 1970s/early 1980s on the IOW ... there was a campsite which had fairytale structures rather like this. All I clearly remember is large concrete mushrooms, and that it was in woodland. It was not Blackgang Chine - not an attraction with lots of people visiting. It was rather like this video - an odd, secret place almost hidden in the woods. Maybe it was this place ... if it was once a campsite?
@@laurenceneville Can't help you on this one Neville I'm afraid, a little bit before my time. If you're on FB there's an Isle of Wight Heritage page which could have the answer 🤞
@@Countrystock Thanks Andrew
I've done the same on a cliffs edge stepped into mid air .
This wasnt part of old Blackgang chine was it? Remember going there as a kid and that boot looks familiar.
Nursery land, great memories of holidays on IoW
I have just discovered there was similar at Blackgang.
Earlier video from 2018 of same site.

I like it.
Wow been to the Isle of Wight but never knew about them we had a guy taking us round who lived there for years if not born there😭 now seen it with a lot of greenery about no tick today only on the thumbs u,👍👍🥂
great vlog guys love it when you work together
It is amazing but I know from living on the island that the owner of the land actually dosnt like people visiting it now.
Cool... My mam used to work in d Isle of Wight.... 😊🇮🇪
wowwwwwwwwwwwwww this is amazing guys . i'd love to go see this
Just around the corner from me! You should have popped in for a brew!
What amazing place great video lads 👍
Clicked on your video so fast when I noticed its to do with I.o w love this place great video used to be part of the old blackgain chine before the cliffs crumbled
Such a great video..I'd stay there if it was an Airbnb
Hi this part of Blackgang Chine Amusement Park, this area Adventureland was closed many years ago when they had to move further back on the island due to land erosion, a major cliff fall which included part of the road and entrance to Blackgang Amusement Park itself, this has happened many times over the years.
I can remember the Old Woman Who Lived in A Shoe, plus other nursery rhyme exhibits.
I will have to look out my photo albums to find them as I have so many happy memories.
Just to add my grandparents are buried on the island, they lived at Lake, Sandown.
is not Blackgang
@@grub1942
Thanks
Just discovered there was one similar years ago at Blackgang.
Bit here is a video from 2018 of the same site.
czcams.com/video/paQm8CJQseA/video.html
Superb!!! Very entertaining 👌
I’m sure that’s part of the theme park at Blackgang Chine as I remember going there with my Nan as a kid back in the 70s and think it closed down due to cliff erosion.
Used to be theme park near me with one of these plus humpty dumpty and others.
I’ve just returned from the iow wanted to look for the boot but sadly didn’t have time.
Did you start at the Niton end at the car park or the Blackgang end, would love to know, would save me time for next year thanx
