      For reverse thrust I’m using toggle reverse thrust and mapping it to Joystick L-axis 8+ (pulling the black Venturi throttle stick towards you)
      It didn’t work but my theory would be that that “button” would activate reverse thrust and then I could push it back in to deactivate and do the same with the prop feather.
      Wonder why I can’t get that to work? Any idea why it won’t let that be a work around?

    Mark, your tutorials are the best. And I watch all tutorials for this gear. What make yours so excellent is the way you approach your viewers. Just explain how to set a control once (or twice) and rely on the intelligence of the viewer to repeat that for their own assignment. And you concentrate on the things that really matter. In this case which control is best used for a given function on a type of aircraft.
    One tip: on aircraft without prop control you might assign the vernier prop control to be used as parking brakes. On the aircraft shown the control is also a vernier like one.

    • @SimHangerFS

    • @caskraker
      @caskraker Před 2 lety

      @@sethkazzim731 There might be an even better way. Since today TB released new firmware, that makes it possible to map reverse thrust to the four top levers by way of using the full downward move of all those as a new button. If you don’t need all of those levers for engines and have set one up as gear up/down you could use the down move for parking brakes. That will not interfere with gear up/down as parking brakes only make sense with your landing gear being down.

    • @sethkazzim731

    I finally figured out how to use thrust reversers on the jumbo jets without hold or toggle. Just goto settings and change throttle 1 decrease thrust as lever 2 button beyond detent and same for throttle 2 for lever 3 on velocity levers. Once thrust is at 0 pulling lever 2 and 3 back now decreases throttle into the reverse position. Hope its easy to understand now i dont have to press anything else just pull thrust levers back now and it reverses. Took me ages to figure out 😁

    Of course, as soon as I fiddled around with the reverse thrust question, Turtle Beach releases a firmware update (and accompanying instructions) that now make the detent/reverse thrust functionality work as it should have from day 1. Kudos to TB for solving that issue so quickly.

      Except having just updated Firmware to 1.1.0, it doesn’t work. Firstly the detent action only seems to work ONCE when recording inputs in the control settings - once recorded for one of the inputs, they stop working. Secondly, the input recorded by the Xbox does not match what TB advise in the instructions. It is supposed to be Buttons 41-44 but I actually get Joystick L-Axis 2+ (or close variations). Have given up and reverted to the suggestions here.

    First and foremost, thanks for all three videos. The profiles you have created are a great start to get one in the air fast. The problem I am having is with the twin turboprop profile, propeller pitch isn't working properly. It does work properly in other profiles. The axis shows a full range of motion in the controller programmer but in the sim the controller is restricted to the lowest 25% of the range. I can move the pitch full range with the mouse but as soon as I touch the propeller control it jumps back down to the bottom of its range. Thoughts?

      Mark, you are the ABSOLUTE BEST! You must have been a teacher in this or a past life...your instruction is concise, well-narrated and well-filmed, and I'm sure that I (as well as many, MANY others!) have greatly benefited from your experience. Glad you're here and dedicated to helping others...
      Couple of questions for you:
      1. I've copied profiles over as you showed in Parts 1 and 2 and have stopped (for the time being) after setting up V1F_single_TR. Will get to twins and jets a bit later. When it came to setting up the upper right stick on the throttle quadrant for flaps axis, it programmed OK but when I go for a test flight and watch the flaps lever on the console, it moves sort of "herky-jerky". I can hear the "noise" of the flaps moving up/down and see them moving if I go to external view. It just doesn't seem to work as smoothly as it did when you demo'd it in your test flight. QUESTION: Could having "all assists" on when doing those test flights be interfering with the settings, or do the assists work ONLY in training and not in free flight? If it's not the assists, I must have mis-entered something and will have to go back a profile or two.
      2. At this point, I have some "unassigned" buttons, namely, HAT-1 up/down, and B9/B10 on the programmable buttons on the TQ above the vernier controls. Any suggestions for things to program those to? I also don't have anything assigned to POV-2/External...best just to program that to an external 360 freelook?
      Finally, glad to see TB is on the ball and put out an update/instructions for the reverse thrust issue. (I liked how you had it set up on HAT-1 up/down but might as well do it TB's way as it seems a bit more...authentic). While I haven't gotten as far as twins and jets yet on the profiles, setting it up for one stick was pretty easy...pretty much the same thing for multi-engines?
      Cheers, and keep up the GREAT work! 🙂

    Hello and thanks so much for the detailed setup... Very helpful. I have one question/problem perhaps you've encountered. It seems no matter what throttle quadrant lever I assign ”flaps" to (using flap axis) the function is all over the place... Glitching out of you would. I thought it was a hardware defect on the velocity one however when I swapped with other items on the same level (say spoilers axis) the control was smooth and 1to1 matching in the sim... Hi Mark thanks for part 1 and 2 I have spent a few hours on this now. When I create a new profile and configure the velocity 1 apply and saving after every configuration. The problem is it does not save the selections that I have made and does not even save the title of the profile. On my last attempt which is the 5th it seems to have saved the selected buttons under the default title and not the single engine basic which I named it. I worry about creating another profile and using the duplicate key and making the changes and re naming. I tried it last time and it did not duplicate from the basic settings what am I doing wrong I have followed your CZcams clips 100% sorry and thanks for the advice.

    Mark - Thank you for your tutorials. I am a beginner and would have been completely lost without your lessons. I have a question and am hoping you or someone here can answer. I followed your part 1 and part 2 exactly. But when I set up my flaps axis using the right most level, it works fine in the control options. When I move the lever to the top the bar indicator moves to the right and if I leave the lever at the top, the bar indicator stays to the right. Same happens when I move the lever down. The problem is when I am back in the cockpit and I move the flaps lever, it kind of flickers but no matter where I leave the lever the indicator inside the cockpit snaps back to the center. In your video it nicely stays on the top. I have no idea what I am doing wrong. Many thanks again for your videos and Happy Holidays

    To whoever this helps, for reverse thruster, they did make the detent a mapable button. But still, none of the hold/toggle reverse options actually put it in reverse. So I mapped that new button to "decrease throttle," and now when I'm at 0 throttle and lower it into the detent, it will go max reverse. So, there is no way to use the 0 to -15% throttle it goes from 0 to max -15% throttle.

  • @Rick-ik2dd
    @Rick-ik2dd Před 2 lety

    Mark....there may be a different---better IMHO---way to achieve prop reverse with the VelocityOne. I've been experimenting with the "neutral" setting within the sensitivity settings, with credit to someone on one of the many forums for the idea. I've only done this, so far, on the Grand Caravan and TBM 930, but leaving the throttle binding just with the 0-100% setting (no other buttons/etc. for reverse), only, and setting the neutral sensitivity to around 90-95% makes the throttle go into beta/reverse about where you'd expect it to without having to press any buttons. It also gives you almost the full range of the throttle, whereas before it tended to go into beta/reverse at around 50% of its travel. It doesn't work quite as well with the TBM as the Cessna but, even so, it's more how you'd expect it to function (going into reverse just near and after the detent point). Please give it a go and let meknow what you think.

    MARK!!!!! I REALLY HOPE YOU ARE STILL READING COMMENTS AND SUCH AND RESPONDING BECAUSE I'VE GOT A REAL ONE HERE THAT NOBODY SEEMS TO BRING UP OR DISCUSS!!!
    So on the actual yoke joystick scteen you have the ability to change colors and uodate firmware and put into training mode....but also theres that other section that has these 3 profiles (Default, Single prop, jet engine).....now unless i missed it from you, arent we supposed to change that profile setting on the yoke screen first, then once You load into MSFS and go to control options, youre also supposed to match which plane or engine type you chose? I thought i Heard someone say one time a while ago that they had to match in order for the buttons and levers to match n sync up perfectly.....then i thought well why is there even a DEFAULT profile to begin with if that's the case??? I really don't understand this part very well and has me somewhat confused as to what im supposed to do there. Do you know by chnace? And what about the training profile also?? How is that related? I can't be the only idiot out there with these questions hahahahaah. Any advice is much appreciated sir. Take care boss!!

    • @SimHangerFS
      @SimHangerFS  Před měsícem +1

      Hi, the default profiles on the yoke are for ‘’training’’ purposes only. In other words so you can check the buttons/axis in something like windows calibration etc. They serve no useful purpose actually and the setting has no effect in the simulation. To all intents & purposes I ignore them. The peripheral has some default profiles built into MSFS.
