Sea Otter Classic - Gravel Race 2024

Made it to Monterey California for the Sea Otter Classic.
First gravel race in over 2 years decided to give the sea otter 2024 gravel race a crack
Had an absolute blast managed top 100 placement just an epic event.

This was the full race, 50 miles not super long. I dont leave the camera running entire time turn on and off for different sections to make it more entertaining. Personally i cant watch a video 3 hours long of a camera running. Appreciate the watch and feed back 🤙

No worries. I enjoy watching full unedited races as well as choreographed ones like yours. I rewatch the longer race videos when forced to ride my indoor trainer on poor weather days. All good. Keep the rubber side down!

Thanks for uploading this, well done! I wanted to do this earlier in the year but chickened out.
Do I understand correctly, that all age categories start together and you were in the 30-39 age bracket and you got 22nd out of 92 and 96th out of 423 total to start the race?

Do it next year you’ll have an absolute blast … its a good race yeah theres a lot of climbing but its a fun course with great people.
Thanks for bringing this up next time I’ll break down how the start or groups go. The way they did it was pros went first then waited some time then sent my group off which was like 16 to 39 then there was 2 or 3 other age groups that waited and went after us. So basically its not a mass start more broken up.
And yes my age group bracket was 30-39 (im 36) I placed 22nd out of 92 and then the entire race not including pros was 423 and I placed 96th overall 🤙

As it was, I drove four hours for just one day of the Sea Otter expo instead, still fun but also feeling somewhat disappointed to not have raced while I was up there.

Thanks for the Monterey videos, good stuff, especially the prep ride. If you did a bike check video that'd be cool too, you get the new seigla? Anything you would've done differently like tire choice? I raced this on a hard tail MTB and that was absolutely the wrong choice, since they took the single track out from last year. My road bike with 35mm gravel tires would've been much better, lol.

Funny I had planned on doing a bike check before the race but decided not to as Im planning on putting a video out this week another review of the lauf. Ill be sure to include your question on that.

Lol hardtail definitely would been the choice if there was single track again but with all that tarmac and open gravel road bike would been the call but hey still better then guy on a fixed gear 🤣

Handful of 650s but definitely mostly 700s good range in sizes though not just 40 and under
