36:27 "It's a big smooshy world." Great quote. Wonderful insights from someone who has climbed the ladder to top-tier, but still remembers what it's like to be struggling to get on the first rung.
One of the best interviews I’ve ever watched!!
This was one of Dave's best videos ever! LOL And of course thanks to you Kyle for the great production and in depth interview.
i doubt big mick was very happy about that impression especially since he's from brum not scotland xD
Hey man, what a great interview with the legend Dave Rat, & very insightful, on point questions from yourself. That was fantastic, I wish I could have seen this video 25 years ago when I was starting out in this industry! I'm in Australia, I heard about Dave Rat nearly 20 years ago from a colleague, was stoked when I came across his channel. Well done to you sir, & thank you very much for this. Keep up the good work. Bravo!
Much appreciated! I'm glad you enjoyed it, Greg. Thanks for watching!
12:40 I can relate. There's a difference between knowing and understanding. It's the only reason I could get away without studying or taking too many notes in trade school! When you can answer the questions around why the answer is what it is, it takes quite the load of the "remembering" the answer to questions. Perfect example is that bedsheet comparison horns analogy. Awesome interview guys!
Top talk! Thanks for your knowledge and passion for sound and music 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🙏
dave is the man
Great thanks for sharing such a legend experience for us
I just discovered Dave’s CZcams channel recently. He & I started out the same way in the underground scenes in our area, and are probably close in age. I wish I stuck to one path rather than trying to be a musician *and* a sound guy. This dude needs a feature on Pensado’s Place, if he hasn’t had one already!
That would be awesome to hear a conversation between those guys! Thanks, Russell!
Great interview. Dave is legend.
Thanks for watching! I have always looked up to Dave and was really grateful for the opportunity to bring him on the channel! I love how he thinks outside of the box and that he can relate everything in life to audio!
Wouah... what an interview. So great to be able to listen all those great ideas!!!
Glad you enjoyed it! I really enjoyed what Dave had to say in that conversation - make sure to check out his channel: czcams.com/channels/_nJM07b0k7C9CvcM-9OH6w.html
What a legend, we need another interview please
Big Mick might be miffed to be called Scottish haha
He's from Birmingham, England.
Ooops! Thanks for setting the record straight, Conor M!
So glad this video was made. Love Dave rat! Beyond valuable information.
I'm glad you enjoy the video, Keaton'sProAV! Dave is a really interesting and friendly person! Make sure to check out his CZcams channel if you haven't already! czcams.com/channels/_nJM07b0k7C9CvcM-9OH6w.html

Thanks for watching, @Drewskidoo22!
exelent, great video and interview... I just a DJ and every once in a while a mic bands... I may not have the human relationship as dave but i feel i share the the same ideas technically... It blow my mind hear you say bass reflex are sound more articulated... and how you have to imagen things in order to memorise them... I also a not very good and learning...
bro plz can u make one more video on the diffrence btw Studio monitors , PA speakers and line arrays , sub arrays ?
BIG MICK sounds 100% Brummy, funny that Dave thought it was a Scottish accent. 😂
