- In Saturation Diving chambers are essential. Diving Support Vessel like DSV Challenger, was built with the Sat and Air Diving System inside its superstructure. Built in Norway Vard Shipyard the Dive System is by DRASS, a well known Italian company. The chambers can accommodate 12 divers at a time. 3 men dive teams x 4. In an emergency evacuation all the Saturation Divers in the chambers will make their way to the Hyperbaric Life boat which is in this case ,Self-propelled. And they will remained under pressure until we can get their lifeboat to a resue facility on shore where they will undergo ‘deco’ to surface. While the rest of the crew go to their normal respective lifeboats. More on this and the Air dive chambers in another video. There are also 2 ROVs located on main deck; ROV Cougar and Quisar. The target is for simultaneous operations between all the dive stations. At present moment the vessel is working in Brunei offshore field for Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP).
All video footages were recorded using iPhone, when we were either on standby ie, 500m away from platform or during the vessel annual testing period in Singapore Yard.
Editing was done myself using iMovie and the music was composed by Yasmin😍.
Thanks for watching and also for your support.
Stay tuned for more videos on diving and ROV works and general living at sea.
Stay safe and Take care.👍🏼

I used to work for drass long time ago, but i can remember as yesterday all time spent on this ship for the commissioning of each system.
I really appreciate your idea of showing the "diving day-life" and i hope the best for you all
Thanks Riccardo. Good job on preparation and commissioning of the DSV Challenger. We get the benefits from your work.👍🏼

Very interesting on the life boat. Makes so much sense but never really thought about it. Thanks!
Ya, the Hyperbaric lifeboat full of Sat divers will be launch and sail to the Hyperbaric Rescue facility on shore, where the Saturation divers will go through with their decompression or ‘deco’ as we call it. This can take days..More on this in the next video😁👍🏼stay tune ☺️
Very informative. Nice mini snips added to the video!! 👏👏
Thanks Sis. Glad you liked it😍😁👍🏼

Terimakasih Sahabat🤲🏼😁
Good Video mate and a good shot of the main man KSD at the end!
Thanks for watching mate! Ya, Cassidy is the man💪🏼👍🏼😁
Wow a specialized lifeboats that’s really cool. Never new that such a thing existed
Yes, only for the divers in saturation. This will be launched in an emergency, set sail to nearest Hyperbaric Life Support facility on shore, so that the sat divers can undergo decompression😁
@@AbangShamvideos that would be a scary boat to be inside, if ever used for intended purpose. How long can one survive stuck inside the survival lifeboat?
@@poione42 It’s claustrophobic for sure. For our job, we have the Hyperbaric Rescue Facility about 5 hours sail, from the furthest field. The 12 divers will need to stay in that lifeboat chamber through out. There’s also a small toilet at the end of that chamber (cannot really see from my video) By then the emergency response team will have the crane and riggers ready to receive the Hyperbaric Life Boat; carry it and connect to the chamber of the rescue facility. Diver transfer into the chamber and begin their deco.👍🏼😁
@@AbangShamvideos thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience. Massive respect!
Well done Sham!
Thanks bro 👍🏼😁
Great video :)

Ainda sou jovem, tenho 15 anos, e pretendo me tornar mergulhador saturado no futuro.

thx for the vid! What do the ALST/LST do during their 12 hour shift? do they have to stare at the wall of buttons the entire time in order to 'monitor' the diving crew?
Hello there 👋🏼
ALST work among other things, consist of preparing food for the Sat divers prior to their start of bell run(their 1 hours notice to dive), and their clothes for work. Also they have to prepare the hot water suits, their boots, cold mineral water bottle, sodasorp canisters, etc. Meanwhile Life Support Supervisors (LSS) and Life support technician (LST) have to prepare the gases for the next chamber to be used. Calculate the amount of gases needed for the duration of the project and what is being used daily by the Sat Teams and send out the report to management onboard or onshore. Usually when all 3 chambers are occupied . They are busy running around for some sort of ‘lock runs’ or toilet flushes. On top of that when we do split level Saturation dives. Bail outs and On board gases have to be filled by them in according to the mixture of the current bell working depth… work carries on and on😁
@@AbangShamvideos interesting!! and can you tell me if ALSTs/LSS etc get to see much sunlight?? or would they spend most of their days in that room shown in your vid?
Oh! the LSTs are not confined in the chamber like the Sat divers. They are free to ‘roam’ around like the rest of the vessel’s crew. Only Sat diver remained in the chamber for up to 28 days, depends on the project and schedule.🤗
@@AbangShamvideos That's great to know! Would it be difficult for a female to become an ALST without having any commercial diving experience? I saw a IMCA approved online course for the LST cert, but I have a concern that employers would obviously want ppl that have at least had commercial diving experience...
Technically any non diving personnel can be an ALST. I’ve seen a non diver becoming an ALST. In reality some company prefer to use a diverALST because the person can also be used as a standby diver if they suddenly decided to do Air diving. This person could be an extra hand. But the main concern actually is about job availability-(are there much job to go around?). Many guys have Life Support Tech ticket but struggled to find a slot as a ALST. They need the hours before they can seat for the exam to promote to LST. You will need to travel to places where they are doing Saturation diving regularly in the beginning and spend a lot of time away from family..hope this answer your question.🤔😁
Where is the saturation diving training course held?
I took my Saturation diving course at INPP, Marseille France…. If you look at my video “Saturation Diving. Shortest stay in Chamber ever. Coming out of INPP….”it will show you the institute .😁👍🏼
@@AbangShamvideos thank you pro
Hi sir I want to become a under water welder please help me
Hello there Ajith.,
To be a recognised underwater welder you will have to go through the underwater welding course. Those courses usually include welding practices for topside (in the workshop) and most importantly underwater welding practices (at the pool or tank). After the practice, they will conduct a coded test to see how good your welds are. This will usually involve a break test of your test piece to see how much penetration you have in the test piece and it will also involve an inspection by a surveyor. You will need to find an internationally recognised underwater welding school if you want to make a career out of this. There’s welding school in UK and Malaysia that I know off, that teaches to the AWS standards.
Hope this info is useful for you😀
Thankyou so much sir
