A simply amazing video on not only building the Academy kit, but the B29 itself. Thank you!
Thank you for your kind words. And thank you for watching my video. I honestly appreciate it.
Beautiful build. Flying in it was fabulous. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for your kind words. I also want to thank you for watching my video.
been watching you for 10 yrs now love your video and tutorial help
Thank you very much! It's been a long time I've been posting on CZcams. There are a lot more videos out there when I first started so I'm both thrilled and humbled that someone like yourself still enjoys watching my videos. Thank you again.
This is amazing, I have always wanted to get the Enola gay version of the b-29 ever since I started modelling. I am glad that you really enjoyed making this kit.
No, I want to thank you for watching my video. My purpose of making these videos is to encourage people to build their own model kits. I am no expert but you don't have to be an expert to enjoy this hobby. That's my point. I want to wish you and your family a happy new year even though it's getting closer to February. Take care. 😊😊
Thank you Friend! I'm starting my own Academy 1/72 Enola Gay model. It's my first model build ever. I'm 55 yrs old. I love your great smile in shot of you riding the Bombardier position! !!!! Thanks so very much. You inspired me.
You are very welcome. I hope you enjoy building your kit as I enjoyed building mine. 😃😃
I will send you video of my build.!
Came for the build, stayed for the cat. Subscribed and looking forward to watching more.
Thanks for watching my video. I hope you and your family had a good Christmas. 😃😃
I'm late to the party but this is a very good and well made video. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for watching my video. 😀😀
Блин...какой красивый и соблазнительный лайнер... теперь я знаю что хочу получить на свой день рождения🤗
Спасибо. Sorry I don't know how to write Russian. I want to wish you a happy birthday. 😃😃
Very nice. Always admire people with more skill than I!
You shouldn't admire me. I'm just a regular guy just like you. Build a model kit and enjoy it. That's the reason why I make these videos. 😀
@@qdc748a I build lots of kits too. Alas I lost an eye in December so it is more of a challenge now, still, just finished a Tamiya 1/12 Brabham Race car and am about to start a Tamiya 1/35 Jagdtiger....but don't be modest, your builds are lovely.
A beutiful model enhanced further by an expert paint job. Don't understand people who would give this a thumbs down. Cheers, as always, Mike
Thank you for your kind words. What can I say? People are people. Although I try my best to be friendly and nice, some people react to my videos negatively.
@@patrickjensen5937 TBH if someone is that bothered about a plastic model and what it represents then they have free will and could have walked away without causing offence to another person's skill. Let them take up tiddly winks - that shouldn't cause offence. Also, why should you offer up excuses or an explanation to the motives of others?
Your smile and attitude are infectious. Best wishes.
Thank you for watching my video.
It's really nice, I'm proud of you. The coloring is gorgeous, and nice cat too, soo cuteee
Thanks!!! 😀
Great Build!
😀😁😃
Awesome Build Buddy I'm currently building a 148 scale B-29 she is coming out great
That's great to hear. You must be building the Revell B-29 in 1/48 scale. That's the only one I know in that scale. I wish you all the best and thank you for watching my video! 😀😀
My two favorite modelers: QDC and Buster!
Cute. Thank you for your kind words. 😀
love your cat
Thank you and thank you for watching my video. I honestly appreciate it. 😀😀
This was a great video! Love how wholesome it was! Definitely earned a subscriber
Thank you for subscribing! And thank you for watching this video. 😃😃
Well this is an awesome surprise! First video I ever watched of yours was the Revell B-29 and have watched practically every one before it and since!
Wow! Thanks for being a loyal viewer. 😀
@Jakob Secl I will 😃
I just started assembling it. Great video to helpthe painting process.
You're welcome. Thank you for watching my video. 😀😀
Wow!!! Great looking build and plus being on the real SuperFortress. Keep 'em coming my friend.
Thanks 😀
Hey QDC, been watching you since 2013 when I was 10 and I have to say you've been a huge inspiration for me. love the continued content, and great build!
Love from Alaska!
Wow! I'm flattered that you still watch my videos after all this time. Gees, I don't know what to say but thank you for being a loyal viewer. And thank you for your kind words. Be safe my friend. 😊😊
About to start this kit, loved watching this video!
You're welcome. Thanks for watching.
Beautifull model , great paintjob too , always a plesure watching you building a great kit..Building kits for over 45 years and still enjoy it.
Thank you. Wow, 45 years of building model kits. That's amazing! 😀
That's great! The wife & I visited the Kansas Aviation Museum back in '08 and saw Doc while it was still in the restoration process and didn't have engines. The model turned out great! I've got one too but haven't built it yet.
You got to build it! It was fun just be careful about the turrets. 😀
Great job building & painting your B-29 and thanks for posting your video(s) too!
You're welcome 😀
Brilliant finish, great to see the step by step build and your opinion of the kit and the build.. :) Supersmooth finish with the Alclad, nice and shiny and the model looks good on the wall, as a constant reminder now of your B-29 flight.. :) Thanks for letting me build mine alongside yours, I enjoyed doing mine and I think it is good we covered both the periods of which the B-29 saw action.. :) And again thanks for the video clips.. much appreciated!! :)
You're welcome. Anytime friend!
Wow, lucky you! You got to be right up there in bombardier's position in a B-29, awesome view! I went full screen for that!
Nice work on your B-29, Alclad paints really are a cut above! (Very cute cat too)
Thank you. If you can afford to fly in a warbird, I would highly recommend it! It's an experience of a lifetime. 😀
@@qdc748a The closest I ever got was to sit in the cockpit of a TF-51 nicknamed "Crazy Horse" at an airshow several years ago. Maybe next time the crew visits my local airfield I can get a ride in the back!
@@maxbrandt6 If they offer it, don't say no. Fly and get an experience of a lifetime. 😀
Wonderful job!
Thank you 😀
Hey That looks FANTASTIC! Really nice job on the paint, and the final results show! Excellent! by the way.. don't you just love cats!
Thank you. Yes, I love my cat. Ever since COVID, Buster wants to be with me wherever I go. He's like glue😀
Beautiful job. Thank you for sharing your story about your flight aboard the B-29. September of this year I was able to fly aboard the B-17 Sentimental Journey. What an awesome flight. Flying in a WW2 era Warbird is truly a life changing experience.
Thanks. Yes, flying a warbird is truly an amazing experience! You get to feel how they felt flying during the second world war. That flight on the B-17 Sentimental Journey must have been a wonderful experience for you! It's an experience you cherish for the rest of your life. 😀

Thanks!!! 😀
Really great !
You are welcome.
Well done!. the crew of this plane would be proud of you 👍✈️
Thank you!
Boeing have produced so many outstanding aircraft over the years and you have done it proud with this kit build. The finish is superb and your hard work has definately paid off. It was a joy to watch and well-done you for this presentation.
Thank you very much for your kind words 😀. I met several people who work for Boeing and none of them told me they hate Boeing or say their planes are awful. I totally agree with you about Boeing. I want to thank you for watching my video. I also want to wish you and your family safe. 😀
Another great model my friend! Congrats and keep building. Have fun and be safe!

Thank you for your kind words. I honest appreciate them. Thanks. 😀
Great Job. I followed you though this whole build, you should be proud of it. The paint job if very convincing. Guess it pays to practice.
Yes, I am proud of my own work! But I want to thank you for watching the video. Thanks again! 😀
Nice model, Sir - good looking paintwork - your videos are very enjoyable ! Thank you and LIKE !!!
You are very welcome. 😀
Really enjoyed watching this video..I have this kit to build and picked up some great tips here.Your cat also was a welcome edition😻.
Your B-29 flight looked fantastic as your face showed. You looked so happy.Thank you, take care and all the best from the U.K🇬🇧🇺🇸👍
You're welcome 😀
Very nice job! 👍 In my opinion, the Boeing B-29 Superfortress is a most beautiful bomber ever built.
Thanks! If you live in the United States, you should see either FiFi or Doc. You won't regret it!😀
Very very nice, paintjob worked out great!
Thanks for your kind words :)
Excellent job done on the B-29, Collin. Your practice and research for alcad colours had payed off. I totally agree with you, building model kits is for having a good time either alone or with a friend. Looking forward to see your next project. Thanks for sharing, take care and keep up the good work my friend. Greetings, George.
Thanks George! I'm glad you liked my project. 😀
@@qdc748a My friend, i liked most of your projects. You are one of the first guys i watched his builds on CZcams when i started modeling. Back then i didn't had a channel so i couldn't comment, but i picked a lot of knowledge from you and i am thankful about that.

Good to see you back again! I have started a couple of aircraft kits myself now from my.usal armour I'm building the 1.32 Dauntless just now! My cats always round me when building gets in the road at times but nice to see he's taken to a new home great!
Thanks and good luck on your project. 😀
Nice pointers. I figured you used Alclad. I'm getting used to my airbrush before I try Alclad on my United DC-8 kit.
Great. Good luck on your project on the DC-8. I think the trick is using light coats. 😀
@@qdc748a You"re correct. My B-52 (X-15 launcher) paint cracked. I thought what the? Live and learn.
Wonderful Video Qdc! I'd also like to take a ride in the B-29, maybe ill get the chance someday. The B-29 turned out great, the practise with the Alclad paints really did pay off, great result , have a nice day and stay safe!
Ps: i also forgot to say that the extra editing is very very good IMHO, making the quality of the video even higher, if possible , keep it up like that :-)
Thank you very much for your kind words. Yes, I have worked extra hard in editing this video so I appreciate comments like yours. Flying the B-29 is pricey but if you can afford it, it's well worth doing. It's an experience you will cherish for the test of your life.

I like your style - and the focus on having fun with building models. You really get some great results have some great tips .. thanks for sharing your experiences.

Brilliant finish
Thank you 😀
Wow that looks fun! I build 1/48 scale and I am impressed seeing this 1/72 Acedemy kit! Looks great. Great story and video about "Doc" also! Isn't that Alclad chrome miraculous? Builder did good job of applying it too! Great videos, models here. Qdc has great presentation and honesty also! Flying in Doc is awesome, and the filming itself! I will now watch the full video of flying in B29 Doc. Dennis Weaver was an FM2 Wild Cat Pilot during end of the war I believe.
Excellent work, as always. You got a great NMF with Alclads. No small feat. I memember you building the Revell kit as well. Think I like this one better.
😀 Thanks
A great result well done
Thank you 😀
It really pops in that brand of paint QDC!
Fantastic build a nice paint job Even in 1/72 scale its huge
I've built the 1/48 version from Revell and it's the mother of huge B-29 models. But even in 1/72, it's still huge. I agree with you. 😀
Nice build👍
Thank you
de France je regarde tes vidéos c'est magnifique , bravo et encore merci !
Je vous en prie 😀
Looks great Collin :)
Thank you for your kind words 😀
Awesome job! I really love the paint you used for this one. May grab a bit of my own for whatever build comes next. Again, splendid job on this one. I probably wouldn't have the patience for it like you do haha
Thank you for your kind words. I'm about to upload a Sci Fi model. I've just finished the Star Trek USS Enterprise. I was inspired by William Shatner when he took off into space this month.
Amazing B-29 Super fortress Model! The model would be good at showing Albert Einstein Memorial since he was the one that created the Atomic Bomb and Big Boy. Model Suggestion that you should make next: Academy 1/800 scale Uss Kitty Hawk, Academy 1/48 scale F-4J Phantom, And Atlantis 1/172 scale B-52 and X-15.
Thanks for your kind words. I'll keep those models in mind. 😀
Fantastic video
Thank you for watching my video. I honestly appreciate it. 😀
Nice video as always. Add to your list of actors - James Best (Dukes of Hazard) who was a waist gunner on a B-17.
Gosh, I remember that man! I used to watch Dukes of Hazard when I was a kid. He played Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane so well. He's one of my favorite characters on the show with his distinctive laugh. Here's a clip of him laughing on CZcams. czcams.com/video/-f3CFzahrRs/video.html I also remember Catherine Bach (Daisy Duke). I think everyone had a crush on her. Here's a clip of her czcams.com/video/GtEUcTjDnoI/video.html I didn't know he was a waist gunner in a B-17. Thanks!

Would be real interested in seeing your friends Airfix B-29 build also. I built that kit When i was a kid and loved it. I didn't think it would even be around any more though i'm sure the Academy kit is probably much better.
Great job as always man👏👏I love your videos and your cat too 😂 Can you make a video of your model collection? I really wanna know how many models you have.

Great build! I have this one and Bock’s Car in the stash. My hold up is wtf to put them when I am done! I like your wall mount idea.
Thanks. Maybe you should build yours? 😀
@@qdc748a presently working a 1/72 PBY-4, so Bocks Car might go up next!
I saw a 1/48 b29 and it was just huge, the 1/72 scale is much more manageable
I like this scale a lot better! 😊 If I had to choose again, I would choose this Academy kit for it's nice size. 😊
@@qdc748a the Enola Gay was actually built in my home city of Omaha, at the Martin bomber plant, now Offut Air Force base
@@JoshLensch Wow!!! That's impressive. Is there a plaque or monument there commemorating that? 😃
Two comments:
1) That came out absolutely amazing! I am very impressed with your airbrushing skills. I absolutely love it and am jealous!
2) I wonder what your cat thinks about the model?
You shouldn't be jealous. I'm sure with practice, your skills will improve. But the most important thing is to enjoy this hobby. You a build model kit to enjoy it and not to get jealous of others. 😀 I think my cat loves me more than the model kit. Ever since COVID, he wants to be with me wherever I go. He's like glue! Anyway, I want to wish you and your family safe and I also want to wish you and your family happiness in life. Take care.
@@qdc748a I just got done rebuilding a 1968 Cadillac. It's kind of like a model in many ways! Taught myself to weld and all sorts of things for the project. I'm quite pleased with how it came out. So we all have our strong points. Still love the model, though. I gotta try those paints.
Nice build, please provide more detailed information about your paint color choices: aluminum, chrome, etc...
Very nice work! Can you please explain in detail how you did the canopy with the foil and maskol?
I simply used rubber cement and foil. I applied the cement first and then applied the foil very carefully on to the canopy. Once the glue is dry, I carefully cut the foil and paint. There's nothing special in this procedure. 😃
Enola Gay and Bocks car ~ all of silverplate B29's had all the turrets removed... also the tail cannon (only two cal 50's were left)
If I didn't know better I'd swear you were in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon or a Tie Fighter, but that's where they got it from at lucasfilm :)
I didn't know that...thanks for this bit of information. 😀
j'adore le chat !! cool !!! 😆😆😆
My French writing is not strong so I have to reply back in English. I am sorry. I'm glad you like my cat. Ever since the Pandemic began, my cat always wants to be with me like glue. 😃😃
Cool build, maybe you should have tried the foil and rubber glue for the whole model ?
Looks great do you still have the B29 in 1/32 scale kit build
Yes, I still have the older Revell B-29. It's still hanging on the wall opposite of my newer kit. 😀
Wonderful build. My dad built a very similar kit when I was young in the 70s. It hung in my room for years. Was the kit tail heavy? Looks like you had the tail propped up.
Thanks. I used to remember my friends done that too during the 70's. Yes, it's tail heavy. I couldn't put any weights in the front because it was taken up by the interior. 😀
Very nice job. The paint looks fantastic, I want to try this brand. Are they pre thinned? 👍👍
Yes, they are. I recommend visiting Alclad website. They provide complete instructions. 😀
what airport did the B29 you were in depart from?
Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wichita_Dwight_D._Eisenhower_National_Airport
Great video! Did the Alclad take to masking well? It looks like you have tape directly on the shiny finish at 15:45. Did it try to peel, lose shine, ect at all? I usually tamiya masking tape which is what it looks like you used.
Hi, lovely build mate, one question I was wondering why you installed the turrets minus machine guns, instead of the kit supplied blanking plates, as fitted on the Enola Gay & Bockscar? Cheers.
It's obvious that you didn't watch the video in it's entirety.
do you spray paint openly in your model studio
what have you done with your built models
boeing made an airliner after ww2 based on the b29. it was boeing 337 try looking it up

hey! so im brand new to building all these models and I want to start gathering all my troops and vehicles for the diorama I am going to start soon, but I wanted to know, do I need to buy paint? or does all the paint come included with the boxes?
Hello, most kits don't include paints and glues. From my experience, beginner kits includes paints but the more sophisticated kits do not. This is a tricky question because I'm not trying to advertise any company who sells paints or glues. I personally use various paints from all different manufactures and see what I like myself. Maybe someone who reads this post can help you better. Sorry I can't be much help.
Have you tried AKs xreame metal paints? You get the same maybe better results than alclads now all you need is there black base down first it cuts all the prep work and stinking
Didn't you do one years back in 1/48th scale?
Yes, I have. 😀
What sound track is that?
The song is called "Darktown Stutters Ball". It's free on CZcams Studios. Get it! 😀
Well done my friend I love the paint job you have done and it is really nice to see it hanging on your wall. What is your next project ? and say hello to you adorable cat who seems to enjoy being on camera quite the celebrity. Great job keep the videos coming stay safe and healthy .
Thank you for watching my video! Yes, I will tell Buster you said hello. Since COVID, Buster has been following me like glue! I can't get rid of him even if I wanted to 😀. He is really nice, he doesn't destroy my models. At least not yet. I just bought model kit of the Star Trek Enterprise by Polar Lights. I was so excited and thrilled to see William Shatner in space for real that I wanted to build the original Enterprise in his honor. It's going to be lots of fun.
