Herb: "how many fingers am i holding up?"
Ortega: "Ten years ago i had a choice"
Herb: "He's Ok"
🤣🤣🤣🤣❗
Can you pls tell me what the "ten years ago i had a choice" actually means? I'm from England so i'm a bit behind on the MMA lingo but i keep hearing this phrase & i'm baffled as to what it refers too?
@@adeosinowo3197 he has an ad by modelo beer look it up
Herb: how many fingers am I holding up?
Ortega: I am literally dying
Herb: he's good to go!
Ortega: keeps wandering off.
Herb: How. Many. FINGERS GDAMNIT?!
Ortega: I think someone's at the door. I keep hearing the doorbell... I'm gonna go answer it...
Herb: how many fingers am I holding up?

That's definitely Anthony Smith lol
@@andrewjay7962 Lmao i think you're definitely correct my friend lmao
notice how he's in half of these. he's the worst ref in MMA. yes. his worst stoppages are worse than yamasaki.
Anthony Smith's teeth were falling in the Glover Teixteira fight.
Tommy just repeated a sentence a minute into the video, but I’m all for the extra tommy commentary
I thought I accidentally rewinded the video
I was making a sandwich with my phone in my pocket. I assumed I just skipped back ten seconds.
BRIEF NOTE BEFORE WE START
@@pandatass4622 same, messed with my mind
Figured I was just having another stroke.
The beatdown that Valentina ShevchenKO put on Priscilla Cocheira should have easily made this list.
It was the final straw for Dana with Mario Yamasaki and the last fight that Yamasaki ever reffed in the UFC...thank goodness.
That one was more of a "this fight should have been stopped before it even started" than a "this fight was stopped way too late". Cachoeira had nothing to do in the cage against Valentina. And yes, it's good it was the last time we saw If She Dies, She Dies. No one should take that kind of a beatdown unless they're a rapist in prison
Yea the Brock and Bisping fights shouldn't even be on here....idk what he was thinking
I was expecting it to be #1.
Yup,
Anytime Valentina is fighting and no1 has seen her fight. I explain to people that she put a beating on a girl so bad a ref got fired for not stopping it
They literally put a brand new fighter up against one of the most dominant fighters to ever grace the ring and a ref who wouldn't stop a fight if you put a gun to his head. If Valentina didn't change it up and submit her, she wouldn't have a face anymore.
Love them showing bobby knuckles casually sipping a water when talking about guys fighting through bad knee injuries. Perfectly encapsulating him as a softy savage
My buddy mistook Bobby for a latino, and now we all call him Roberto Knucklechez
I remember hearing him speak for the first time and it was the polar opposite of what I thought he would sound like.
I lived in New Zealand and Australia for a few years and heard fans in both countries say he looks like Genghis Khan and now I can't unsee it
Robert Whittaker is a THAVAGE - Mike Tythun

Hahahaha
The officer problem what
T city became Randy Marsh🤣🤣🤣
Lmao “what seems to be the referee, problem?”
I lold.
#1 better be when Marc Goddard missed Stipe tapping out to Overeem
Facts
Hahaha amazing.
💀
And I clearly saw the tap
While i appreciate this immensely. Tito vs Chael would be a good option in all seriousness.
When the fighter says he‘s done the coach should qualm it a quit. The fighter at that point already checked out mentally and trusts you to basically save him.
Shevchenko vs Cachoeira deserves at least an honorable mention.
What a massacre.
How was that not number 1?😂
That will be on the "Fights that shouldn't have been started" list
@@e.zponder7526 or "fights we can't believe no one died in"
Seriously, who tf made this list and didn't include that?!
The JR "somebody stop the damn match" at the beginning was so perfect 😂
Ha yeah
Glover : I'm sorry Anthony. It's part of the job.
Smith : Yeah. It is what it is.
Was waiting for Aldo vs. Yan, just re-watched it and Aldo covers up for about a minute of unanswered strikes. Blood starts to splat on the canvas while he's turtled up toward the mat
Yeah, I'm a little suprised that fight doesn't get brought up more often as an example of a late stoppage. To me it's right up there with Smith/Texiera.
The final round unfortunately overshadows the fact the fight was very competitive from rounds 1 to 3, some of the highest level striking in all of MMA. But Aldo began to wilt in round 4 because his infamous cardio issues came back to haunt him as Yan turned up the pressure.
@@madgavin7568 You're right it was definitely competitive. I even gave one of the earlier rounds to Aldo (I think maybe round 2), and for a while there I was hopeful Aldo could wind back the clock and pull off a miracle.
It should be an honorable mention, along with Silva vs Bisping. Shevchenko vs Cocheira should have been #1, nevernind making the list. 200 significant strikes vs 1. 200:1 significant strike ratio. *Let THAT sink in....*
Glover was literally apologizing for punching him as he was punching him. That moment was worse than the teeth falling out for me. The fact that it was so bad that Glover felt the need to say sorry while the fight was still going… I get that there weren’t a ton of obvious places to stop the fight, but it should never have gone that far.
Herb: “how many fingers”
Brian: “CM PUNK”
Herb: “He’s ok”
Spat out my drink
Herb: "what's my name.
Ortega: "twinkle twinkle little star"
Herb:" HE'S ALRIGHT"

Ortega: I'll take a custom lowrider with spicy tacos please
Herb: He's good let's fight
Herb: How many fingers am I holding up?
Ortega: 1? 2? 3? 4? 5?
Herb: Stop! You got it. Hey he's good to go
Herb: How many fingers am i holding up?
Ortega: fingers are just an illusion, we live in a simulated matrix
Herb : ok start the fight
I like this one the most so far
O'Mally vs Moutinho is also a fight that should have been called way earlier
Man. Herb stopped that fight both way to late, and somehow simultaneously to early. He had plenty of chances to stop it early, and then he randomly stepped in while Kris was swinging back.
@@MrJunga best ref in the game tho am I right
@@MrJunga it honestly wasn't a good or bad stoppage. He was clearly still in the fight (while not showing much offense or defense) he was still conscious and was on stable feet. No signs of needing it stopped.
@@mrswizzlestickz2646 the fight should have absolutely be stopped earlier. Problem is herb let all those damaging moments pass only to stop it at a random spot with few seconds left on the clock. Leis threw the last strike in the fight for gods sake
Yeah man there should be some kind of mercy rule.
Herb: How many fingers am I holding up?
Ortega: “Dad, I’ve only spilled the raviolis once, gimme a break...”
*Herb : He good, lets fight!*
best one
Crazy how herbs gone from arguably everyone's favourite and the best ref in the ufc to making this list 3 times. Plus, surprised no Mazagati on the list.
He was hyped by Rogan as the best. I didn't like him since the Fedor vs Henderson early stoppage.
herb is the worst ref right now
Herb is terrible
Herb is very uneven imo. For the most part he's decent but his off days are very off. All ref makes mistakes though but personally my current fav is Marc.
@@Juel92 Herb's biggest problem is an inability to admit fault. Herzog admitted he fucked up in the Smith-Glover fight. Herb has always defended any bad calls as "actually they were right". That to me is very dangerous, because it shows an unwillingness to learn from mistakes, which might be why his off days are indeed so off.
Marc and Herzog are good. I like Peterson and Togoni as well because they actually take points for fouls.
7:00 Bisping wasn't even KOd, he was still talking to Herb as soon as he hit the ground
It wasnt even a complete knockdown. He would have stayed on his feet j wobbly had he not slipped, Silva was j confused and walked away
@@Kozycz It was a knockdown.
@@madgavin7568 Knockdown or not it definitely shouldn't have been stopped. I'm really surprised he put it on this list
@@creedbratton4064 Whether it should have been stopped is entirely debatable. I have no dog in that discussion.
@@madgavin7568 no it isn't mike was clearly still there and was showing no signs of being in any danger, he clearly got knocked over by the sheer force of another human crashing into him but he was still completely fine like when costa was able to push romero over with a punch but didn't hurt him at all.
Little known fight that didn't make the list but always sticks in my mind.
UFC 215: Gavin Tuck vs Rick Glenn.
I remember it was absolutely disgusting the amount of punishment Tuck took in that fight. Four broken bones in his face. People should definitely check that one out.
Dana White even tweeted mid fight that the ref sucked and needed his ass whooped.
Glover Teixeira vs. Anthony Smith is one of the few fights I can recall that actually made me sad to watch. I think it also didn't help that it was on one of the earlier Fight Island cards with no crowds after the first covid lockdown.
Yeah, with the crowds, you probably wouldn't have been able to hear Smith say his teeth were falling out. Without them, you could hear it loud and clear.
Herb: "How many fingers am I holding up?"
Ortega: "One.... soul is ascending to the heavens. It looks like me..."
Herb: "Alright. He's good to go!"
Herb dean: how many fingers am I holding up
Ortega: 1 uh 2
Herb dean: good enough
Lmfao I love it
Could have been one of those times when you answer too quickly before you process your answer?
Herb: he said a number, good nuff!
5:48 the editor didn't seem to realise that the commentary was meant to be talking about Carwin, not Lesnar...
ye' ol' lunch boxes for fists
Carwin’s fists were infamously bigger than Lesnar’s, shame it was shown incorrectly here
I think a lot of people don't realize that the fight had no business being stopped. Covering up doesn't mean a guy is too hurt to continue. Covering up when a 280 pound guy is just continually throwing punches at your face despite the covering up is common sense.
What is the biggest reason the fight had no business being stopped is that every time the ref told Brock he had to do something, basically to prove he was still ok, he always made some sort of move to change the position.
As a local boxing corner man I was always taught not to talk your fighter into going back in if they truly say they want to be done.. only because their spirit is already broken. Most fighters will never have that moment because most are warriors that will fight to the death. But weird injuries or if you're just outclassed sucks but it can happen.
Ben Askren vs Robbie Lawler should've been stopped imo.
Herb Dean even said he was a split second away from stopping it.
I saw again the Holloway/ Kattar fight and Herb should stop it at the 4th RD with 2;30 remaining. Kattar was literally a walking dead man out on his feet.
Check Kongo got knocked out cold about 3 times and the ref didn’t stop it and he managed to come back and knock out Pat Barry cold all this in the span of a minute.
The Weidman stoppage was suspect but I think Herb didn’t stop it because of the aura around Weidman, bottom line he was a crowd favorite and I remember he seemed unstoppable up until that point
Herb: how many fingers am I holding up?
Ortega: hey yo why you waving gang signs at me?
Herb: I bet Volkanovski by decision, let's Fight!
i’ve been a fan of this channel for over a year and i’m so glad that i found this, as a young fan off mma i’m glad that they show older fights. thanks MMA On Point👍
The Nunes / Pennington fight was one of those unsettling ones, where you wish you could break it up yourself. Sometimes a fighter will go past their breaking point because they're already out of reality, so the corner should stop it. This was even worse. The fighter said they were done, so that should have been that.
Sho she should’ve just stopped… She’s a grown woman. Just walk out the cage and wave it off.
@@cristobalbalenciaga7295 You may enter the ring sober but after a few hits to the noggin you're drunk and senseless. The corner has a function, they see things from the outside. Haven't you seen Rocky IV? I like bloody mats in MMA as much as the next guy, but I'm saying that fight felt different. Felt wrong that it went on and on.
Loving the Adventure Time clips mixed in with great MMA commentary, lol. Two of the best things on television.
The video editing in these videos never gets old another gold quality video thanks for the entertainment guys
Keep it up fellas. I literally love it when I finally get the notification that y’all dropped a new vid.
10 herb dean fights. I haven't watched the video yet I'm just assuming it's a bunch of herb Dean stoppages that happened a minute too late
Has he ever stopped a fight at the right time? Always too early or way too late.
Cant believe he even set in motion Dan Hardy’s termination from the company. That dude was one of the best analysts they had. Now we have Din Thomas, Aljo Sterling and Michael Chiesa sniffing around the desks.
@@sgtking666 He used to, but age seems to have made him incredibly hesitant. With Mazzagatti or Yamasaki you knew they were going to let it go on too late. With Herb, he's all over the place. Sometimes too slow, sometimes too early, other times he should call it but doesn't so he just calls it later when he shouldn't. Some times he's not involved at all with fouls/cheating, other times too involved.
Worst part about him is his complete refusal to admit that he fucked up. Herzog apologised and admitted fault for the Glover-Smith fight. Not once has Herb Dean ever said that the calls he made are wrong. That is the most dangerous part to me, it's the sign of someone who is unwilling to learn from their mistakes, which might explain why they keep happening now.
@@MrDioXIII tbh man i used to think it was just herb being past his prime so to speak, but now I kinda think that herb is just an outdated ref. He doesn't fit in with the way fights are expected to be stopped nowadays with the way fighter safety is now taken more seriously. He hesitates for sure thats that's fact. But I think it's cuz he's not good at stopping it unless the guy is literally out out and getting pounded on, which back in his heyday was just expected before a ref would stop it. I think the sport passed herb, and it's time for him to step down.
Definitely seems like he's got some nervous energy anytime he's thinking about stopping it, it used to just look natural for him.
@@JD_13 What does Aljo Sterling have on Dana? Man can go almost a year without defending after a DQ win and still get paid doing analysis?
Replace Silva vs Bisping with Yan vs Aldo, which should have been stopped fairly soon after Aldo was dropped in the fifth
It was really sad what happened in Weidman vs Rockhold.
I kind of understand why they did not stop it.. Weidman was undefeated. He stopped Silva's 16 fight win streak. He beat Machida, Belfort, Demian Maia. With wins over legends, they probably thought Weidman would recover from Rockhold's attacks. No such luck.
Thank god for this one, so damn true. I thought I was the only one thinking about some of these fights going on a bit too long. Great list!!
Everyone seem to forget O'malley vs Moutinho. Yes he had heart, but that took way too long to stop, man....
You missed Gaethje v Ferguson. That was brutal.
The quality of these videos is just amazing. I’m just sitting back and thinking of how far the fandom of this sport has come with a huge smile on my face right now.
That ref from this weekend would’ve been number 1
Okay come on now. You GOTTA do deepest subs survived now
Top 10 title changes by submission
That Shawn O'Malley/Kris Moutinho fight should've made this list.
The creator was probably afraid of backlash (as idiots in the mma community felt like moutinho should’ve get butchered for 20 more seconds)
Dude, I remember watching the Weidman vs Rockhold fight and I genuinely felt so bad for Weidman.
I hate to word it like this but it looked like a grown man beating up a kid in there.
It looked like one of those cases of grown man strength kicking in and Weidman just took so much unnecessary punishment.
And this is coming from someone who, especially at that time, isn't a fan of Weidman at all. God that was terrible.
I'm here for the "brief note before we start" loop
So many of these fights Herb Dean is involved, Dan Hardy got it spot on with him.....
Stop the fight!!!
Herb Dean: "Actually what Hardy did was dangerous, but I'll go into that in another video"...never does that. He is probably one of the reasons Hardy got the sack.
@@MrDioXIII he actually did. MMA junkie posted this huge piece that Herb wrote on social media where he went into detail about how what Hardy did was really dangerous, and something about Hardy thinking he was superman. TBH, I think Herb was just upset that someone was trying to tell him how to do his job.
Just thinking of the Max vs Kattar fight I feel like crying, like when I think of a beautiful piece of art. That fight, Rory vs Lawler and Darren Elkins comeback are 3 of the most beautiful and touching things I've ever saw in my life.
Great list great and accurate analysis of each fight, probably my favorite list you guys have ever done, no notes
Ooooh no notes, thanks editor
The bisbing take was a little off.
Plus repeating lines, that's almost all vids though so idk if they are doing that on purpose at this point or what
Look up Valentina vs Cachoeira. That's the major note from the top of my head. If you're not familiar it's 95 significant strikes to 2 with 84% accuracy with 8:32 seconds of ground control in a 9:25 length "fight". It's the fight that got Yamasaki (the ref) fired and blacklisted from the UFC.
@@Juel92 will do thanks
What about Sean O'Malley vrs Chris Mutinio? Just look up the stats and watch the fight again and pay attention to the corner screaming "Move your head!" The entire time. Still props to Chris's toughness 💪 but O'Malley's striking was insane!
Queue:
“My teeth are falling out.”
“I wanted her to be a warrior.”
Shogun having to tap to due to stikes.
&
Askren. (Pick a fight.)
I remember a fight (can't remember who) said to their corner that they were done. The corner just pushed the fighter back into the fight, which was a horrible decision. That bothers me
Notice how Herb was all about making sure Ronda was protected. Ortega and Bisping weren’t money tickets for Dana though.
My guesses before watching
1. JDS v Cain 2 was hard to watch
2. Volkanovski v Ortega (thumbnail)
3. Smith v Teixeira
4. Nunes v Pennington (corner should have stopped when she asked)
5. Rockhold v Weidman (inbetween rounds)
6. Shevchenko v Cachoeira
7. Hunt v Stipe (again, corner should have recognised he couldn't win)
8. Aldo v Faber
9. Cyborg v random woman in Strikeforce
10. Penn v Sanchez
Holloway was coming off a scary loss and we all though the legend was done. He came in and proved us wrong with that record
Lmao the wrestling "will somebody stop the damn match" intro was hilarious. I love this channel.
Haha i love you used one of JR's classic lines for the beginning.
Stipe Miocic vs Mark Hunt for sure shoulda been on this list. How his corner let him go out there for that 5th round is beyond me, I've never seen a fighter look so defeated in between rounds like Hunt did in that fight
Came to the comments to see if I could find this one, or mention it myself. Definitely worse than a lot of these entries.
Honestly that Bisping call was pretty good. That knee was no doubt brutal n it was a crazy knockdown but you can clearly see him attempt to defend himself from the ground and again look toward the ref like "wtf Is this" so it wasn't like he was knocked out cold. Plus he came back n absolutely dominated round 5, I got no problem with that no-stoppage honestly and most that I've seen say the same except for silva fans tbh.
2 “quicks notes” that were meant to be one made me chuckle… Onward to the video. Love you guys & gals!!!
Bisping VS Silva a detail which wasn't mentioned but should be a added was that the bell rang for the round to be over shortly after the knee so that's also why Anderson was celebrating and Bisping also missed out on getting a cut man to help him since all the craziness with Silva was going on
Smith vs Texeira definitely should have been called. That was a brutal beat-down. Regarding Volkanowski vs. Ortega, that could have easily been called too. That was also very 1-sided, despite some valiant attempts by Brian. Kattar vs. Holloway also could have been called earlier on in the fight. That might be the most impressive I've ever seen Max.
Have to redo this video and add Saint Denis vs Dos Santos to this list. This fight is not over as I’m commenting and this ref is insane. Saint Denis is getting sacrificed right now.
I’ll never forget that Holloway V Ortega fight, I was there live and so many people in my section were calling for the fight to be stopped after the 3rd round
I disagree with the Bisping one
Bisping was saved by the bell and wasn't out he was knocked down
Agree completely.
I gotta admit that Volk vrs. Ortega was such an amazing fight that swayed momentum in every direction, on the edge of your seat, not knowing what outcome was soon to occur. I hope Ortega is doing okay.
Lol the only momentum shift was in the third with Ortega's sub attempts. Besides that it was a one sided beat down that should have been stopped after the third.
One solid sub attempt really didn't change anything.
I can understand why Herb let it go, but Kattar's corner allowing him to go out for the 5th will never make any sense to me.
The glover lionheart fight was really hard to watch. I think maybe because it had no fans so you could just hear these huge impacts from glover and when a fighter literally hand his teeth to the ref it’s probably time to stop the fight, and glover being the nicest guy ever literally apologized during the fight.
Just re-watched the Silva-Bisping knockdown. Mike had his left hand up to defend himself before his right hand hit the canvas, Silva didn't follow up, and as soon as the round ended half a second later, Mike resumed his conversation with Herb about his mouthpiece, so it was reasonable for Herb to think he was still with it IMO.
czcams.com/video/NRJx0S9mYRk/video.html&ab_channel=KingCoparoo
When you repeated that sentence in the beginning I really thought that I either had a concussion or someone had slipped something into my tea
Probably a performance enhancer like John Jones
Was expecting CB dollaway vs khalid murtazaliev to be #1. The most sickening non-stoppage I've ever seen
Thank you Tommy! 🙏 love your videos! Keep it up! Way better than that anchor baliun
Poor Brian Ortega I remember how everyone thought he was the next king of featherweight undefeated Holloway was a betting underdog and now he is best known for having 2 fights that should have bees stopped sooner. Think of a fighter who when you close your eyes you can just imagine their face all messed up
Who do you see for me that’s Brian Ortega
We have another one to add to this list… 🇫🇷
love that Invincible reference on the Volk vs Ortega though.
Aldo vs yan should’ve ended much earlier too but I guess it was eventually stopped
This fight should have been top three. Aldo wasn’t defending himself. I guess the ref was giving him a chance to comeback but Aldo must have had a concussion no way he didn’t after that many hits
Honorary mention: Aldo vs Yan
Maybe wouldn't even reach 9 on this video but my god it should've stopped much earlier.
Saint Denis vs dos Santos was insane
There is NO way I watched this list without Shevchenko vs Cachoeira being included. Wow. Only miss from the channel so far 💪🏼.
The one consistency I've noticed through this video is Dean is basically the referee throughout them all
Really wish the footage could be shown in these videos. Could have been a whole new favorite channel…
Let’s cool it on the random clips guys. Some can improve the video if they’re relevant and well placed but when they’re random and predictable it feels like a low-tier High school girl CZcamsr vlog. That eddie murphy clip is a great example.
Y’all don’t need low effort attempts at memes to be good. I watch every video and been with y’all for a very long time. Just some constructive criticism.
Ortega only rallied in the 5th because volk knew it was a 4-0 sweep
Bisping is a legend. Herbert Dean should've called time but sometimes the purp hits when it hits, if you know what I mean.
Magney is a hypnotist who manages to convince his opponents that they should be in contact with him and it usually works out for him
Couldnt DISAGREE more with the Bisbing Silva fight, mike was never once out cold, he looked at Herb as soon as he dropped.
And also silva is the one that walked off and celebrated while the fight itself kept going,
Fr, he got flashed.
@@dokidokideathproof i just watched it on my fight pass, disagree, dont see the evidence.. Him falling isn't close to proof....
Yeah I thought that entry was a bit unfair
Bisping talked about it himself on his channel, he wasn't knocked out cold
The Brock vs Carwin and Bisping vs Silva fights should've never been stopped..... horrible call putting them on this list. Smfh
Agree. I reckon the yan vs aldo fight should have been on the list before these 2 fights
Bisping was KO'd. Simple as that.
The double line at around 50-59ish caught me off guard and wondering if I’d misheard
This editing is amazing
Stop he’s dead
Tommy is the GOAT, Bayliun is cringe and makes me click off
If you're problem is someone's voice theres something wrong with you.
Same here
@@TheSpectacledSteve It’s not just his voice.. he’s not funny at all and the videos he usually does are stupid topics
Aldo Yan comes to mind as well. That one was tough to watch
Respect for using s Brian Sutterer clip in the intro. Dude knows his stuff.
Haha I love good ol Jr at the start with "will someone stop the damn match??"
They literally had to carry Ortega off the canvas and onto his chair after the 3rd round. No idea how that fight continued
