Pat Hitchcock was in 1951s masterpiece Strangers on a Train. She came to a very sticky end. THIS episode is a direct steal of British film...So Long at the Fair...made 1952 or so...with Jean Simmons & Dirk Bogarde in one of his first roles. Obviously no copyright problems ?

@Corno di Bassetto Absolutely correct Como! Just after I'd posted that remark....I realised that I'd confused Pat with playing the wife, Miriam (she of the SPECTACLES!)--- then I couldn't locate the video clip again to post my correction! Thanks for picking up & sorry for the boo boo!🤫😬

@Corno di Bassetto No!....not aware of this folder!...Thank you! I still tho...like to see how I go with my memory, if I can...which is SUPPOSED to be "photographic" according to my dr! Well...it let me down a bit this time...didn't it! At nearly 78...it's important to keep the brain moving....so they tell us...? (even when the old back hurts...the mind still functions..?)😬

@Corno di Bassetto Very interesting! Glad you were able to find So Long at the Fair! Would be almost worthwhile tuning in to the "foreign-language" version...if only to hear Very British Dirk speaking Italian! You are also a fount of information! We Movie Buffs of Trivia gotta stick together! Grazie and ciao!

Actually this story and the movie you refer to are both based on a novel by Marie Belloc Lowndes called The End of Her Honeymoon written in 1913, and neither give credit to her. Lowndes' book is based on an anecdote that has been around since middle of the 19th century, supposedly based on fact, about a disappearance in a Parisian hotel and the jaw dropping reason for the cover-up. No "copyright" issues at all because the idea for the plot has been used repeatedly for over 300 years all based on an urban myth. Can't copyright folkore.

I thought Pat was a very good actress. She was merely fulfilling her role of an English woman during Victorian/Edwardian times. That is how they both acted and spoke. In more modern roles, she acted very naturally.
