I utilized a daytime format so the stations would be more stable to obtain results that best represent each type of change caused by the passive loop and twin coil's effects on the signal.
Overall, I am impressed by the Twin Coil and it's gain by working passively with the PL-360's provided external ferrite antenna. This has become my AM DXer setup. It is very easy to setup and tune in stations. I have an external speaker setup that makes listening more enjoyable then the tiny speaker on the 360. Fun Times!

This also shows one the strengths of the PL-360, the ability to use a direct wire for an AM antenna (you can also attach a gator clip to the extended antenna). So few radios allow this these days, I think the 909x also does it. But not many of them.
Thanks for the very interesting comparison video. The C. Crane twin coil performs impressively. I noted how many foreign-language AM stations you have in Chicagoland. Here in Rochester NY we receive in the daytime French-language CJBC from Toronto plus three Spanish-language FM stations, two licensed and one apparent pirate on 87.7. I have the County Comm version of the Tecsun 360, and will have to look into getting a twin coil. Here just west of Rochester we sometimes get WJR Detroit sending a signal up Lake Erie, but do not usually get New York City, Cleveland, Pittsburgh or Philadelphia in full daylight.
Thanks for the demo. Now I remember why I don't like the "numbers only" style s-meters. A bar style s-meter is so much easier to peak.

Great video again Pete. Main take away: You can buy an inexpensive radio for Dxing and use the CCrane feeder bar in conjunction to get equivalent reception as the best CCrane radios. Guess the consideration is if you are the experimenter type and want to mess around with antenna positioning or if you just want the radio itself to do all the work. Either way, you're not going to save $ by cheaping out on an inexpensive radio and adding an CCrane-TCF antenna to it. :)
True, this device is mainly for those who need reception of certain stations that can only be picked up by remotely positioning the antenna Coil. I love that it can have a 75' run with minimal loss.
@@todderbert I know, that's excellent minimal loss. Side note: the CC-3 arrives today, direct from Crane. Thanks to you for pointing out how good it is. Still awaiting my 1st +800 mile station :)

This is a great active loop antenna for indoor AM Dx-ing
TECSUN LOOP UPDATE -- During the day there`s a weak station on 970 AM that I like to listen to but the noise from our satellite box is so bad that it makes it impossible to hear. I tried laying my pocket radio inside the loop with the loop laying down FLAT instead of standing up. I turned the tuner on the loop clockwise until it reached resonance and right past that point the static interference vanished almost completely.
At night I get similar results on 1200 AM buy placing the loop beside the radio, between it and the source of interference, facing the SIDE of the loop towards the interference. This time the null effect occurred when I turned the tuner knob on the loop counterclockwise past the point of resonance. At night the loop helps keep stations understandable longer when they fade in and out. The loop has been a blessing to me by making my two FAVORITE stations listenable again after we got a new satellite receiver box that caused horrible interference.

I have Tecsun PL-365. When I Purchased AM External Antenna works very good. But i insert headphones jack in AM antenna female by mistake. now my external AM Antenna not working in the Radio. Is it possible its work again.?

I did this once with no ill effect. I would try a second external antenna, they are not of the highest quality. I have had one go bad on me.
1550 is a frequency that I get lucky on. I get a lot of stations.
