The background. This is for Narges Mohammedi, who is currently serving 31 year sentence in Iran for supporting human rights. Narges'Children was there to receive the award. Angelina's grandmother Mery Zamani is lranian. So this has personal significance for Angelina. This song was originally written as part of a 1955 movie "Unchained", about a man imprisoned longing for his love ones. When she looks at Narges' Children and sings " l be coming home, wait for me". That's why she performed this with great reverance, this was an honor for Angelina. Thank You

For someone who doesn’t know Angelina very well, you have a good understanding of what so many of us love about her singing. Angelina has incredible vocal skills in her vocal toolkit, but she doesn’t flaunt them. Her interest is the song, the music, and the lyrical interpretation. Her performances are not about her, but about giving the song justice, usually in a way we haven’t heard or imagined before.
Your comment about Priscilla is an absolutely perfect entree into your next Angelina reaction. By all means, watch and be stunned by her cover of Elvis’s Suspicious Minds. This is Angelina hitting on all cylinders: musically, vocally, aesthetically, and visually. Watch how she can pay obvious homage to the original while making her version the one you’ll never forget. In 2014, a little Norwegian girl was named and codified, a national treasure by both the King of Norway and the prime Minister. That same year, she sang for the Nobel peace prize winners all at the age of 8.
In 2023, that same girl, now almost 18 once again graced the Nobel peace prize stage and sang for the recipient once again.
That young girl is none other than Angelina Jordan.
Angelina Jordan made history with this performance.
Angelina is the only solo singer under the age of 18 to have performed twice at the Nobel peace prize concert.
When I learned the story of Narges Mohammadi, this years recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, and the history of the song "Unchained Melody", I fully understood why Angelina Jordan chose this song.
P.S.: Angelina arranged the music and vocals for this performance. She thanked the director of KORK publicly for allowing her to do this.
Here's a link to all of her performances of this song:

The context of this majestic rendition of "Unchained Melody" must be taken into account. AJ was singing in front of an audience of officials and on a special occasion, the presentation of the 2023 Nobel Peace Prize. What's more, this year's recipient of the prize is 51-year-old Iranian journalist Narges Mohammadi, currently imprisoned as she has been many times since 1998. And don't forget that AJ's grandmother, Mery Zamani, is Iranian. We can therefore assume that she feels particularly concerned by her country of origin, and that the imprisonment of a woman as courageous as Narges Mohammadi does not leave her indifferent.

Angelina inspires me to do what I can to help make the world a better place, so I am asking all angels and others to spread the story of Narges Mohammadi. Angelina was recorded here in December 2023 at the Nobel Peace prize ceremony in Oslo Norway, performing this beautiful version of Unchained Melody. She paid tribute to Narges, who is currently on a hunger strike while imprisoned in Iran, for being an activist for women's rights. Her two twin children, who are 17, spoke on her behalf at this event. The more people who are aware and call for change, the more likely the leaders of Iran will set her free. Acts of kindness are inspirational, as Angelina always reminds us. We angels, and all others must honor Angelina, and those who represent our values, by doing all we can to help, and be kind to others. Even the smallest gestures can make a difference.
If you have not already done so, please provide artist links to the official channels, social media and even links to Spotify and iTunes, as many reactors have done. Most importantly, encourage your viewers to use those links the same way as you do for your own channel. That will help ensure her success and spreading peace and love to the world.

You got her in one. She doesn’t need to prance about wearing next to nothing, nor would she want to! She lives to sing, not for her self satisfaction, but to make the World a better place. A very grounded, humble, beautiful person and we are all so lucky to enjoy her talent.

  • @RobertDeMartin
    @RobertDeMartin Před 3 měsíci +15

Why do you think she decided to sing the song in such a sad and emotional way? She, too, was aware of the original message of the song and because of the event she was singing at, she and the orchestra arranged the song to bring forth the message of a love separated. This performance was at the Nobel Peace Prize Award Ceremony in Oslo, Norway, (where Angelina was born) and the recipient of the award was Narges Mohammadi, an Iranian woman in an Iranian prison for speaking out about the rights of women and the oppression of women in general. Her husband and her two children (twins, a boy and a girl) currently live in France and they hadn't seen her in years. Some time ago the Iranian officials considered releasing her from prison but with one condition, she stop speaking about women's right. Narges met with her husband and her children and they spoke of their love for each other but Narges reminded them about how strongly she felt about those issues and said she could never agree to such a condition. So, she remains in prison. It was a wonderful gesture for the Nobel Peace Prize Committee to recognize Narges and her efforts and the hope is some day both sides will come to a compromise of sorts and she will be set free. But one important factor may make that highly unlikely because Narges said, if released, she has no intention of ever leaving Iran. Angelina is part Iranian (her grandma) and Angelina is not only Iranian but is also Norwegian, Swedish and Japanese. (The mystery of Angelina is never ending.) So you can see the connection she had to performing at the event was very personal. (Btw, the twin children were sitting right in front of Angelina as she sang the song. Angelina was quoted as saying she was scared she might start to cry during the performance but she kept it together, didn't she?
PLEASE PLAY IT AGAIN FOR YOUR PERSONAL PLEASURE NOW THAT YOU KNOW THE STORY BEHIND THE PERFORMANCE. only Angelina...

In addition to covers, Angelina has been writing songs since she was 10 years 0ld - So far 12 have been released: Oslo, What is Life?, Shield, Million Miles, 7th Heaven, Love Don't Let Me Go, Now I'm The Fool, Fire and Rain, All My Fault, Good in Goodbyes, Diamond, and Our Time. Angelina has stated that she has written about 100 songs that have yet to be released. Her songs are taken from her Journal writings. When she was 10/11 she rewrote the Lyrics to Amy Winehouse's Back to Black and Rehab to make them more age appropriate at that time. In addition, Angelina premiered another new song (Princess of Ruins) at her recent Las Vegas concert which has not been released - when it is - it will be her 13th released song.

Boudy, thanks for your wonderful reaction to this beautiful, touching, respectful performance by Angelina Jordan. Boudy, I greatly respect your commentary about the choices Angelina made for this performance. As always, it is about the song and the occasion, for Angelina.
I thought "Unchained Melody" was an odd choice for this event, but have since learned the history of the song. More on that later.
Certainly Angelina was thrilled to be performing back in her home country of Norway, where she is a national treasure, but this performance goes way beyond that honor. She first performed at the Save the Children event at the 2014 Peace Prize event, when she was 8 years old.
Narges Mohammadi was this year's recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. Narges, is currently on a hunger strike while imprisoned in Iran, for being an activist for women's rights. Her two children spoke on her behalf at this event. Most of the performers were Iranian.
We know Angelina's grandmother, Mery Zamani, grew up in Iran and was a prodigy for painting and poetry. We can imagine the conversations Mery had with Angelina about Narges. This performance had to be extremely meaningful to Angelina and her family. I hope all the angels will spread the story of Narges and her mission, with the hope for change.
In 1954, Alex North was contracted to compose the score for the prison film Unchained (released in 1955). North had a melody he had written in the 1930s and composed and recorded the score when he was asked to write a song based upon the movie's theme. North asked Hy Zaret to write the lyrics. After first refusing, Zaret and North together wrote "Unchained Melody. Zaret refused the producer's request to include the word "unchained" in his lyrics. The song eventually became known as the "Unchained Melody" even though the song does not actually include the word "unchained". Instead, Zaret chose to focus on someone who pines for a lover he has not seen in a "long, lonely time".
The film centered on a man who contemplates either escaping from prison to live life on the run or completing his sentence and returning to his wife and family. So indeed this song fits along with Narges being in prison and her two children, and the rest of the people who embrace freedom, calling for her release. It has been nine years since Narges has seen her twin children who are now 18, or her husband.

She is already an artist for the big occasions with e.g. The new FIFA World Cup's official anthem, in addition to several major performances. Like few artists, she has performed for the Nobel Peace Prize at the age of 8 and 17. And 2 shows in Las Vegas ... She is 18 today.

Timeless, eloquent, exquisite and stunningly beautiful. Angelina Jordan encompasses all these wonderful qualities and delivered a masterful performance with the world famous orchestra Kork. Angelina, as you can see, always has such grace and poise when she sings and in this performance her reverent vocals were so much in tune with the real meaning of this song. This song at the Nobel Peace prize event with a live concert audience and a TV audience of millions is unbelievable. Remember, Angelina Jordan was only 17 and looks like a diva on stage and absolute goddess singing her soul to the husband and siblings of Marge's Mohammadi, who is currently imprisoned as a human rights and women's activist in Iran. On special note, Angelina is from Norway, Oslo where the Nobel Peace prize event is performed and her ties to this woman from Iran. through her grandmother Mery who is also Iranian so Angela was able to deliver this directly to the recipients of this award. And boy, did she ever do a fabulous job. I want to thank you for continuing your wonderful journey with our beautiful barefoot princess. There have been several who have performed twice (Senead O'Conner, Youssou N'dour, et.al.) at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony, but at age 8, Angelina was the youngest ever. And at age 17, she became the only person under 18 to perform twice at this prestigiouis ceremony. Great reaction. Angelina performs for the sheer joy of the music and touching and moving people. I think the phrase you are looking for is she doesn't feel the need to "Show off". Angelina interprets the lyrics and presents the story of any song she performs in an authentic and respectful manner as she feels it. I have never seen a more honest, humble, and authentic performer than Angelina Jordan. She may never "blow up" in the pop world but I believe she will be renowned throughout the music industry and leave an indelible stamp on music for generations to come.

Unchained Melody (AJ, at the age of 17 performed at the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony December 2023 in Oslo, Norway.)I watched as Angelina Jordan stepped onto the stage, her presence commanding attention. The room hushed, anticipation hanging in the air like a delicate thread. She stood there, a young girl with an old soul, ready to weave magic with her voice. As the first notes of "Unchained Melody" filled the room, time seemed to slow. Angelina's voice wrapped around each word, infusing them with a depth that transcended mere lyrics. It was as though the song had been written for her, and her alone. The audience held its breath as she sang. Her voice soared, reaching heights that touched the heavens. The pain and longing in her eyes mirrored the emotions in the song-the heartache, the yearning. It was more than a performance; it was a revelation. The chorus came, and Angelina's voice swelled, filling every corner of the room. " Oh, my love, my darling I've hungered, hungered for your touch," she sang, and suddenly, we all felt the real meaning of the words. The magic in her performance was like nothing we had ever experienced in our lives. The lyrics came alive and had meaning as they flowed through us. In that moment, Angelina Jordan became a vessel for something greater-an embodiment of love itself. Her voice carried us beyond our own pain and loneliness. We felt connected-to her, to each other, to something intangible yet profound. As she held that final note, time snapped back into place. The applause erupted-a thunderous acknowledgment of what we had just witnessed. But it wasn't just applause; it was gratitude-for allowing us to glimpse love and longing through Angelina's eyes. And so, we stood there, hearts full, tears in our eyes. Angelina Jordan had given us something rare-a reminder that love exists even in our brokenness. And for those few minutes, we believed it with every fiber of our being. ©

You hit that nail on the head. Angelina has always been an artist she treats her voice like a musical instrument. She never shows off as its never about her ego. It is always about what is needed to convey the story and emotion of the song. She has the ability to pay homage to the origional song whilst making it her own. The fact we can never predict exactly how she will do this as no two performances are the same ... is addictive. It creates a sense of anticipation every time we know we are about to hear her sing.

Welcome to Angelina Jordan and her angels, "some of the nicest people on the net" You're going to experience a once-in-a-lifetime experience here is some history, Angelina Jordan is a music prodigy she started singing at the age of 1.5 years old and more than that she started with Billy Holiday Jazz. Angelina sings in 5 languages, designs her clothes, and has written a top-rated book called "Mellom to hjerter" (Between Two Hearts)"Norway's youngest published author" a story about why she wears no shoes during her performances, and like her name, she truly is an angel with a heart of gold. Angelina won Norway's Got Talent when her audition for Billy Hollowday's Gloomy Sunday went viral and she got world press she started the competition at 7 years old and won at 8 years old. In her younger years before age 13, she was watched over by her mother (Sara) and her Uncle, Angelina's manager, who just wanted her to grow up normal. Her mother and uncle Turned down almost 90% of all requests for her to perform. Still, even so, from age 8 to 12 years old, she has been all over the world (Her mother and or her Grandmother are never more than a breath away) Angelina has produced millions for environmental causes and children's causes around the world. Angelina has produced over 160 covers and many originals and makes them her own, all will astound you. New people to Angelina get sucked down this"rabbit hole" not believing what they're hearing her excellent vocals and unique way of singing, Angelina is a master at music structure her ability to show absolute recognition to a cover while she makes it her own is just unbelievable. Angelina writes her own music productions like Shield, Million Miles, 7th Heaven, and What is Life, and many more original productions. Angelina's mother is Norwegian, and her father is from Sweden. The " world-known artist and prodigy in her own right, grandmother (Mery Zamani) on her mother's side is from Iran, and her grandfather (recently deceased) was from Japan both grandparents are very involved with Angelina's growing up, and Angelina's song A Million Miles is about losing her grandfather and her original cut Shield is about the people that protected her and watched over her during her performances and travels. Although Angelina didn't win AGT Champions 2020 she was signed to Republic record label and is producing new music 7th Heaven, Million Miles, and Save the World she's on her way, after school, to a world market that I'm sure she'll dominate as of 2024 Angelina is 18.

Bingo, even though you are a relative newbee to Angelina, you actually do know her perfectly, you just don't know it yet. Everything you said about your early impression will only be reinforced as you hear more. I always say it takes at least listening to 30-40 of her songs in various styles from many music genre to see most of what's she's got, but still not all of it. She will continue to make you say "Wow, I thought I'd seen everything, but I didn't know she could do that!" At least that's been my experience for the last 6 years. If you want to hear a Masterclass vocal performance of a classic jazz standard recorded by everybody (600+ artists), but NOBODY does it as masterfully as Angelina's 16 yo version of My Funny Valentine, Imo. Unfortunately, the video doesn't show Angelina singing, but rather her taking selfies in an antique store. However, the audio is top notch. czcams.com/video/bWiLOnHJYxg/video.html She sang it again on Feb 29th at her 2nd show in Las Vegas. That one is her "Double S Version," Sensual & Sultry, but I'm waiting until James Thiel posts his video of that version, since he is doing an amazing job making professional, high quality videos.

Actually, James Thiel just told me that BigAngieFan (Chris Walker) is producing the multi-view version of My Funny Valentine, & it should be posted in the next 4-6 days. The 2 of them are working together to cover all 20 songs from her Vegas concerts & they are professional quality.

Angelina delivers more 'emotion' to a song than even the originators of the song. The first judge, after her audition song for Norway's Got Talent (which she won age 8), said, "You are music!". The orchestra is called KORK and it is the Norway Public Radio Orchestra. They also played for her recording of Amy Winehouse's "Back to Black". czcams.com/video/ICY1uJe15cM/video.html
She has many covers and she always honors the originals with only the adition of Angelina emotion.

I know I don't need to say this, but thank you for loving this young lady and her talent. I honestly don't think there will be another cover of this song that can match what Angelina did here with this fabulous orchestra, nor match the depth of feeling she expresses with that emotive voice, obviously in tune with the whole point of this tribute. Truly, a class act, except she is quite real and is every bit the princess she resembles.

Great reaction to the greatest version of Unchained Melody that has ever been performed in its existence since it was written in 1955 and performed by more than 1000 great vocalists.
Unchained Melody Nobel Peace Prize 2023
This video is a masterpiece that I have watched more than 100 times coming from Oslo, Norway. Every time I hear the KORK Orchestra begin playing, I feel a surge of emotion because I know what is coming next: the most amazing rendition of Unchained Melody by the incomparable Angelina Jordan. She has a voice of an angel and a talent beyond words. Unchained Melody Nobel Peace Prize 2023 Some ask why Angelina Jordan would pick Unchained Melody for this event, Narges Mohammadi, the Iranian human rights activist who received the prestigious award remains in Iran. One of the most popular and enduring love songs of all time, Unchained Melody, has a surprising origin. It was composed for a 1955 film called Unchained, which tells the story of a man who is incarcerated for a crime he did not commit. He yearns to be free and reunite with his wife and children, who are waiting for him outside. The song captures his emotions of loneliness, hope and longing, and has been covered by many artists over the years, but none in my lifetime of 76 years have conveyed such emotion as Angelina Jordan did at this performance. ©

It's crazy how good she is live. This is one of those rare amazing opportunities to hear her through a gorgeously audio balanced production. Since it was for a TV program. This came out way to well. Her and the orchestra and the sound guys absolutely killed it. Super moving rendition. Kinda wish she'd record her concerts and put them out after processing the audio and balancing it, she can flex, we can listen, it'd be unreal. Sometimes the audio is so awesome on fan shot videos, but it's just not the same realm. I'm glad we got the best on this one.

Synergy is the combined efforts of individuals working together to produce a joint effect that is greater than the sum of the parts acting alone.
The collaboration between Angelina Jordan and the KORK Orchestra at the Noble Peace Prize Ceremony 2024 was a remarkable display of musical excellence, and synergy. The young singer's soulful voice and expressive interpretation of the song, Unchained Melody, captivated the audience and complemented the orchestra's rich and nuanced sound. The performance was a fitting tribute to the peace laureates and a celebration of harmony and diversity©

Both recorded in (2016) were “Back to Black" (czcams.com/video/LbXUKzOxACU/video.htmlsi=xE-gCwAmaAVIyZQ8) and "Summertime"
(czcams.com/video/stwF4ti1tbc/video.htmlsi=oDnXxCsz8NgXd95r). Imho Angelina's slower, and more heartfelt, pace with this rendition enhances her emotionally
charged stylings. Her use of vocal fry (5:38) is to me iconic Angelina and unique to her.

Nice job doing research on this song! I never really understood it either, but it was still beautiful. James Theil did a great background video that explains the origin of the song and significance of Angelina performing it a the Nobel ceremony. Also, James has done some wonderful editing of songs captured by him and other collaborators from Angelina’s Las Vegas performances. I highly recommend reacting to those because not only the video, but more importantly, the cell phone audio limitations have been corrected. Very close to the quality that it was in person.
