here is my stevens 301 turkey factory & patternmaster code black turkey .383 pattern test side by side at 40 yards with the Apex ninjas 3 7/8 oz #9.5 shot load!!
with how varied the ID dimensions are in the factory chokes constrictions the performance varies amongst factory chokes but if you have a gem i would pattern it and see if it fits your desires
if not the patternmaster code black turkey has day in day out blown me away with the hot core and tight even patterns with every 410 load on the market i have put through it!!

Just purchased the Code Black for mine, factory choke wasn't bad but wasn't good either. But you've single handedly sold me on the Code Black and the Turkey Ninja's.
It’s truly a solid pattern! But I can’t take credit I just filmed the test the performance is what sell it brother!

My buddy put 7 turkeys down last year with that gun with factory choke and federal TSS. Three turkeys where taken at 70 yards and they were stone dead shots.
Man idk if I could get myself to drop the hammer at that distance lol

Great video. Love that you are including the factory choke. I’d be interested in the results you get with a factory choke in the Mossberg 835. My factory full shoots pretty good with cheap steel #4’s. Have busted squirrels from more than 70 steps with that.

Once you have that reflex sighted in for the code black turkey and find the perfect load for it... man its going to be lights out!
That is the best load I have found for my setup, although we hunt here in NY with a custom load of 7.5’s or 8’s

Jake you really need to get the new code black turkey in the 410 for the 301 it is .381 constriction as they do not make the .383 anymore. Since Moose hates his 301 .410 he can sell me his .383 CBT choke lol.

With that said the good factory chokes are very impressive too can’t overlook them I just hate that some look great some are just trash they need to work on the QC on that constriction variance

Can you do the 301 Turkey with the factory full choke with a standard lead shotshell? Not all of us can find or legally use that shot size or want to pay that much for ammo if we can even find it?

Just ordered one picking up tomorrow. Hoping the factory choke will work ok. Trying to get my daughters first bird this spring so she’ll need the larger pattern. Can’t find or order any ninjas anywhere (did get in a box of small town blend today in 20s) 🤘today do have some federal Tss 9s for the 410. Any tips or checking the construction size on the factory tube?
You can call apex at the shop and get your order in hoss, and I use my tools from work to check chokes I start with calipers to get close then gauge pins to be dead on accurate

Called and ordered one today, mossy oak bottomland thumbhole stock. They jumped up a little $250 plus tax. No way you’d loose money on yours.

Bought one last year was goin get the 410 then decided on the 20ga model it’s a great shooting turkey gun!!! But may have to go pick up the 410 model also you can never have anuff guns lol 😂

Blue Collar Outdoors USA I love it got the bottom land camo Version with the factory red dot and I was very surprised for a factory optic it is really good I’m just using the inexpensive Winchester turkey loads 40 yard shots all day long no problem 👍

@@BlueCollarOutdoorsUSA only rules we have is it has to be a shotgun shooting shot, archery, or a .22 mag or larger rifle for turkey
Being out west, a 22 mag rifle with a scope wouldnt be a bad option with the long ranges we see

I’d like to run a 410 load of APEX throw my old G1 contender pistol for reaping gobs but the it’s been impossible to find a choke that fits the old 45/410 pistol barrel.
I could see how that would be an issue ahaha
TSS might through enough shot to make it worth a pattern test. I shot nitro tss out of an old H&R 20ga old fixed full choke barrel and it was a killer out to 40 yards. I hunted with that gun barrel combo once and killed a beard hen at 41 paces she had a 7 inch beard and the Mount will be completed soon. Good TSS loads makes it possible to shoot a barrel like that one a chance to be Resurrected! That’s what I will do with the G1 contender.
That’s what we’ve found with good tss loads, we’ve put em through old fixed full guns and still lights out even out to 60 just crazy ain’t it!
I’ve heard you say over and over that the patterns won’t be as good in colder weather. I’ve never heard that before. How does the cold weather affect the pattern?

Carlson , com n choke, jebbs, kicks and Indian creek turkey chokes for 410. I am looking at the black turkey and jebbs. I bought a mossberg 500 410 TSS turkey gun last fall. It came with a xfull choke. I bought the gun to squirrel hunt with it. I put a red dot on mine. Waiting on choke and ninja tss loads. Plus having the foring cone gunsmith work done on my 410.
We can try gotta buy 4 of those chokes you mentioned I am working on it but it’s gonna take time to buy them all

One of the reasons your standard choke does so well is that TSS does best with modified or I/C chokes, not full chokes. Did you see the warning on the Patternmaster 410 Turkey choke that says "No steel shot" and on the back of the package "WARNING: This tube is not to be used with steel or or slug ammunition"? TSS is even much harder than steel, which makes it even more dangerous to shoot through a tight tube.
We have found that tss performs best in a full in our testing thus far and we have shot A LOT of tss through a ton of setups, all setups will vary in performance though
It’s been explained to me that due to the size of shot being so small with tss it’s not a worry unlike the shot sizes of steel most commonly being bb or 2’s-4’s there is a huge difference in size between steel & tss, I have yet to hear from a choke company that their turkey chokes cannot shoot tss safely
