  • Once turned bowl. Natural edge crotch bowl.
Hi my friends! In this video I will use a Bradford Pear crotch to make a natural edge once turned bowl. That means that this bowl has been turned when the wood was green and high water content. And I did not perform a rough turning before. Since the walls are pretty thin and the particular form of the edge does not disclose the wood deformation when it dries, it is an interesting method when someone does not want to make a rough turning and wait for the wood to stabilize.

    Disclaimer:
You, and only you, are responsible for your safety in the shop and for your health. The procedures shown in this video, (and my answers to the comments), although they are the ones I consider safe, are not necessarily so for every operator (wood turner, carpenter, etc.). Wood is a heterogeneous and unpredictable material, not two pieces are identical, even when they come from the same trunk of the same tree, shop tools and machines can cause damage to the operator, dust and other physical and chemical contaminants may cause disease and disorders when the operator does not take into consideration adequate protection. Always read operation manuals for your tools and machinery. This video can give you a point to start your research on what is the best for you, but, in any way is the only source of information. The level of experience of the operator is also a factor; procedures that may be safe for an operator that has a lot of experience may not be dangerous for an operator with less experience. If you do not feel safe or confident with a procedure you have seen in my channel, do not repeat it. Be safe and enjoy these activities.

Hi Huw! thank you so much, my dear freind, for watching the video and for the nice comment! Yes! It has been a while that I posted my last video! My day to day work has kept me really busy. It took me almost 8 months to be able to finish the video editing in this particular bowl. But I am glad I finally did it and hopefully I will be able to post sooner the next time! Cheers! Daniel

Daniel

Hi Joe! Thank you so much, my friend, for your nice comment! Ha ha ha ha! As they would say in Game of thrones: "Winter is coming..." Jokes apart, I am glad I was able to post this video after 8 months of doing the actual turning! My day to day job has been crazy these past months and I almost had no time for editing! Anyway, hopefully the next one will come sooner! Cheers! Daniel
