The Canadiens Hughes about his BLUE PRINT

- Coach dives into the strategy laid out by Canadiens General Manager Kent Hughes as he charts the team's course for the coming years with his blue print. Hughes faces various windows of opportunity, including navigating the salary cap and exploring options in free agency. However, constraints like the contracts of Price, Anderson, and Gallagher mean patience is key, with significant salary cap relief still a few years away.
Intriguingly, the trade window emerges as a potential accelerant in Hughes' plan. With a treasure trove of draft picks and prospects, the Canadiens could bolster their roster this offseason. Yet, the development window remains crucial. As prospects mature, particularly defensemen who require more time, it may take three to four years before Hughes achieves his vision.
Coach refrains from pinpointing the exact season when the Canadiens will emerge as a formidable force in the NHL, as success hinges on Hughes' blueprint falling into place. Great work coach!
You nailed it coach
Thank you Peter
I agree with you Coach on constraints with the contracts of Price, Anderson, and Gallagher mean patience is key, with significant salary cap relief still a few years away. It appears to me that once again there be no chairs available unless injuries occur or The HuGo Team makes two or three trades this summer. Barron would start in Montreal. Hutson and Struble will start in Laval. Roy will probably start in Laval. Unless there is trades. Cheers
Ifs, ands and buts
If Anderson doesn't get moved this summer, send to Lava. Maybe an Armia like revelation goes on in his head.
If the young defense don't get beaten up and put in hospital. l
If Dach doesn't get injured again.
If Hughes can't make a deal to get rid of the soft borderline players.
Keep well Coach.
Thanks Ian for your comment today
I agree Coach:
2024: I can see a 10 point improvement and some more meaningful 2nd half games
2025 and 2026: playoff window open
2027: Contender Window open
This would be a textbook execution of the 5 year plan if it is realized.
my dream lineup
guhlie parekh
struble reinbacker
hutson mailloux
I think we'll be very competitive in '26-'27. The non-performing contracts won't finish with the Habs as they'll be packaged up with a good asset in a trade. The Habs' management will flip the script sooner rather than later.
Price's contract is no constraint as he is on LTIR and his money is not held against the cap as well he is paid by insurance so his money doesn't come from Molson's pocket either.
interesting blueprint.
i agree with most of it .other parts not so much .
i have concerns with the d. imo the only guys that will be habs in 4 years is guhlie and reinbacker perhaps mailloux.if the habs continue to draft the bpa ,then i assume that they will eventually draft someone better than guhlie .
having a young team ,hopefully they get all the sophomore slumps out of the way at once .
its not always up,sometimes its sideways or down .
the hab needs to try and not make any mistakes.that would eat up cap or waste a pick or prospect .to accelerate the rebuild .
imo

How in the world would the Habs not have Hutson in their lineup?
The Habs picked a defenceman (ranked 15th) in a draft year stacked with forward studs, and this year they need to pick a forward in a draft stack with future superstar defenceman. Montreal has the worst prospect management department in the whole wide world of sports.
