    I WANNA THANK YOU PERSONALLY FOR HELPING ME PASS MY ASFAB. After a long 6 months processing trying to enlist & waivers and getting dq’d at meps for an old prescription I FINALLY got a ship date Feb 7th USAF baby!!! I got in thank God an thank you sir .

    I recently took the ASVAB for the first time and did not reach a passing score. I retake it in 30 days I’ve been watching your videos for about 3 days now and I can honestly say it has been helping me understand math much better even though I HATE math lol Hopefully I pass my test the next time I’m going to continue to watch your videos over and over again until it’s time to for me to retake my test! 😊

    For question #10 what made you do 24 • 3/4 bc i set up the problem right but I didn’t think of making 1/4 into 3/4 so I ended up with the wrong answer

    I understand how to break everything down but what I don’t understand is what to look for in the story to know if it’s division,,,Multiplication,,,addition or subtraction that I use I’m just confused on that part everything else went smoothly your a great teacher💯

    Can you help me understand why question number one isn't subtraction when it says give away at the end. I thought that usually means subtract. Thanks.

      You have to figure out what 3/8s of 30 brownies is. She gave away 3/8s of 30 brownies. In this case, the keyword "of" means to multiply.

    The wording of problem 5 could be confusing. I read it and I thought that "his money" referred to the $5 that he started with. I read it like this: I'm going to spend 1/4 of the $5 on food and 3/10 of the $5 on soda.

      Same here i started to read the commens after problem 5th been solved, all the previous simular asvab problesm that i did wanted to subtract all the shares from the original number. Now im confused..

      You are correct he or she started with $5. The fractional parts could be added, then, subtracted from $5, or the fractions could be subtracted individually from $5. The same answer should be got either way. This one is a freebie, but in the future, you send me a little something for my help.

    Do you have a video where you explain what step to take first doing this exercises? Thats my biggest problem. When I think I should subtract ,you do something else like multiply, and when I think about adding you divide or something. Im frustrated man, I was wondering if you had a video explaining this.😩

    lol for the final problem I didn't do any of the math what I did was established that 6 had to be multiplied 4 times to be 24 meaning 6.1=6 was 1/4, 6.2=12 was 2/4 and 6.3=18 was 3/4 so I knew since 18 was 3/4 my answer would be 18 glad it worked out at the end cause I been struggling allll video long to do any of these problems. im trying to understand the math parts more tho cause I know not every problem can be solved like this

      Seem like you have problems in comprehension as well as the mechanics of problem - solving. I would advise you work on that problem. He will not tell you that, since he would rather sugar coat.

    I thought problem #1 was subtracting! Overall, I definitely know how to work out all the fractions, I just keep messing up on the type of operation I am supposed to use to answer it because of the way it is worded.

      It is inaccurate to do that. That can only be done, if the numerator was larger than the denominate, as in 21/19.

    Since this was the last video I had watched before taking my ASVAB today. I would just like to say THANK YOU SO MUCH! I went from a 38 on the PiCAT (I took in 2022) to a 54 on the ASVAB (I took today)! Seriously thank you for helping out so many people, including me! 🥹🙏🏽

    im studying for the teas test and I had fractions questions on my test and I think this might help because when I took the test I had no idea what to do lol I watch your video last night and went over a question I didn't understand and got the right answer

    Im so confused because when I tried doing the first problem by myself I multiplied 3 and 10 but than I subtracted 3/8 because the question asked how many did she give away? I thought that was a term for minus? Why did you multiply that? 😓 Kindly asking lol

    Hello grammar hero I’m currently watching this for my second retake on the asvab since I sadly made a 20, and I have a question, what if the big number as in 1 1/3 what if the 1 before 1/3 is negative and your diving or multiplying etc, what will happen?

      You need to understand the effect negative and positive expressions have on the outcome of the answer. In division, two negatives result in a positive; while a negative, and a positive will give a negative result. The same is true for problems involving multiplication. I assume you know the results when subtraction and addition of two numbers are involved. If not send me a fee for giving you that information.

      36 x 1/ 8 = 36/8 = 4.5 mph

      Subtraction: decreased by. minus, less. difference between/of. ...
      Multiplication: of. times, multiplied by. product of. ...
      Division: per, a. out of. ratio of, quotient of. ...
      Equals. is, are, was, were, will be. gives, yields. sold for, cost.

      You need to be proficient in solving the easier ones, then when you develop some proficiency, you move on to move difficult problems. Are you suggesting you are smarter than others here?

      If 1/4 contain nuts, that means 3/4 do not contain nuts.
      1 - 1/4 = 3/4
      I assumed most people could do that mentally.

    Question 10. How did you get 3/4 of nuts where it isn't even mentioned on the question?

      If 1/4 of chocolates contain nuts, it should be pretty obvious that 3/4 of the chocolates (1 - 1/4 = 3/4) do not contain nuts. In all honesty, you should be able to do that math mentally pretty easily.

    For question 5, I did 1/4 plus 3/10 and used 40 as my denominator. Got 120/40 and divided that and go 3. I did 5/1-3/1 and got $2. Is that wrong since I didn’t get 2.625?

      That question, in hindsight, is poorly written, so I would just skip it!
      In the video, I subtracted the 1/4 first because he spent that amount first, which left him with $3.75.
      Then, I found 3/10 of his remaining 3.75, which was $1.125 and left him with $2.625.
      The way you solved it is also correct!
      Again, it's a poorly worded question, and it can be interpreted either way!

      Here is a list of keywords that you can use to translate word problems into equations: www.purplemath.com/modules/translat.htm
      Ideally, if you practice enough, you won't need to rely on those words to understand and solve word problems.
      My advice is this: practice enough until you can figure out that the question is asking without having to rely on using keywords.
      If you work through all 26 of my math boot camp videos, you should be good to go!

      Nothing on the ASVAB goes beyond Algebra I and Geometry (i.e., 9th and 10th grade) of high school; most of it is middle school math.

    there were 72 runners to start a race in the first half of the race 2/3 drop out in the second half of the race 3/8 drop out how many runners finish how do you solve this one

      72 x 2/3 = 48 runners dropped out of the race
      72 - 48 = 24 runners left in the race.
      24 x 3/8 = 9 more runners dropped out of the race.
      24 - 9 = 15 runners finished the race.

      Sometimes, decimals are easier to work with than fractions. I'm pretty sure I said that in the video, too. The point of the question was to show you the relationship between decimals and fractions.

    On the first problem, how come you multiply 30 and 3/8, and not 30 minus 3/8?
