  • La Plagne ski resort is one of several mega ski resorts in the Tarentaise valley, in France.
Linked to Les Arcs by the double-decker Vanoise Express cable car, together they form the Paradiski ski area.
    In this video
We will show you the most important things you need to know before booking a vacation in La Plagne and if you will stay until the end of the video, you will get some great tips that will help you to take better decisions and have a more enjoyable vacation.
La Plagne is the collective name for a group of seven purpose-built high-altitude resort 'villages' and the ski domain that surrounds them.
    The seven La Plagne resort villages are: Plagne 1800, Plagne-Bellecote, Belle-Plagne, Plagne-Centre, Plagne-Soleil, Plagne-Villages and Aime-la-Plagne.
There are another 4 more traditional villages in the resort:
Champagny en Vanoise in the south side of the resort
Plagne Montalbert, in the west end of the resort,
and the villages of Montchavin and Les Roches,on the north east end of the resort, near the connection to Les arcs.
La Plagne ski resort has a long season beginning in mid-December and last to the end of April.
The resort’s mostly orientation, with height above 2000 meters and abundance of snow cannons guarantee snow-covered slopes.
The ski area of La Plagne itself has 225 kilometers of ski runs, combine with les arcs, it creates Paradiski area, with 425 kilometers of ski runs
Overall there are 18 black runs, 33 red runs, 69 blue runs and 10 green runs in the ski area of La Plagne, served by 77 ski lifts. ף
The ski area of La Plagne, spans from 1250 meters above sea level to 3250 meter above sea level.
La Plagne longest run is called Mont de la Guerre and is nearly seven kilometers long, from the top of the Les Verdons through some of the La Plagne's most beautiful powder slopes right down to Champagny.
Experts can find the most challenging runs in Le Biolley sector, the valley beyond the ridges directly above Plagne-Centre and Aime-la-Plagne.
Snowboarders need to plan their routes ahead in order to avoid many flat areas, such as the slopes above Belle-Plagne.
La Plagne have a vast awesome off-piste ski area. So, if you want to get away from the crowds and crave your own lines La Plagne has a lot to offer.
To explore the best lift-accessed natural terrain in La Plagne, it is a good idea to hire a guide you will be safer, find the best powder and you will have a lot more fun.
Freestylers can enjoy the Snowpark de la Plagne. It is just above Belle Plagne and divided up into four zones with differing levels of difficulty from little experience to the real pros. It is also have an airbug
With La Plagne heights around 2000 meters, most of the accommodation offer ski-in /ski-out conditions into late April.
Plagne 1800 is one of the prettiest villages of La Plagne affording the onlooker a traditional vista of wooden snow topped chalets clustered about a few steep turns of la Plagne’s hairpin road.
Plagne-Bellecote village is host to a convergence of runs coming from all directions and with three chair lifts and a gondola all heading off to different ski areas, you can really get the most out of your skiing from here.
with a beginner’s ski zone complete with covered carpet lift, it is one of the best places for beginners.
Belle Plagne is located the closest to the higher area of the resort. It is also one of the most attractive places to stay. Pedestrianised in the center and made up of traditional wood, stone and slate buildings Belle Plagne will give you a real feeling of being immersed in the mountains.
Plagne Centre is a hub of activity and the biggest by far of the La Plagne villages, it has everything you need for a great holiday and it is packed full of amenities all accessible through indoor gallery and tunnels.
Plagne Centre also has an ice rink, and a good nursery for little children.
There are some pictorial runs going down to Plagne center thanks to the unique topography of the area
Plagne Villages and Plagne Soleil offer a great alternative to the larger villages for a quieter holiday, at a cheaper price, the necessities are there with adequate amusements available and Plagne Centre is close by if you want it.
Aime la Plagne village is dominated by a gigantic pointy-topped building, which - built to emulate the surrounding mountain peaks. Its height gives the accommodation great views over the valley and towards Mont Blanc.
La Plagne is easy to get around, with all the free inter-village transport. There are two main free shuttle services:
One connects Plagne 1800 to Plagne Bellecôte and Plagne Centre every 15 minutes from 08:30 to 00:50.
There are also free shuttles between Plagne Centre, Plagne Soleil and Plagne Villages every 15-20 minutes from around 08:35 to around 23:45

I have been there the last 2 years with a total of 4 friends. We really enjoyed La Plagne. We have stayed in Les Coches, from that point it is very easy to reach Les Arcs and La Plagne, it was the best for us. La Plagne has more blue and relaxt slopes, Les Arcs has more red and more exciting slopes. I really loved the diversity of slopes.

      hi Rolf,
I totally agree that for advance skiers that want to explore the whole of paradiski, staying as close as possible to Vanoise express from each side is the best place to stay in that regard

I've lost interest in NA ski resorts years ago. The good ones like Vail are crowded and extremely expensive. The advanced skier ones like Alta and Snowbird are small and crowded with crappy accommodations. Snow can be good but the slopes are not maintained as they are in Europe. If you live on the East Coast it is only a couple of hours more to reach the Alps, there is no brainer where to go, really...
