I have a great book on Kathleen "Kick" Kennedy and she was a very interesting person and young woman with an ebullient personality. She lived her short life pretty much true to herself and went against her family for the sake of love and love alone. I think she was a remarkable woman who would have made a great contribution to this world had she not been killed in a plane crash in 1948. She is buried at Chatsworth. The widow of "Billy", The Marquis of Hartington, who she was married to for 8 months (May-December 1944), before he was killed in the war.

Kathleen Agnes Kennedy and Jean Ann Kennedy are my favourite daughters of Ambassador Joseph Patrick Kennedy and Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy. Sadly, Jean Kennedy recently passed away on July 17,2021. She was the last surviving daughter of Ambassador Kennedy and Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy.
She was okay looking with a nice smile but as others said, her personality is what made her stand out. She was charming, intelligent, fun and had a zest for life.
Miserable? How? She did exactly what she wanted and she stood up to her mother and family very well. It's just tragic that she lost her life at such a young age, that's all.

I forget all the details of his mission, however JFK was awarded for his heroism when his PT109 was damaged and he saved his crew. Joe was so distraught that he went out on an unnecessary mission, I think he was supposed to bail out of the plane, but for some reason didn't (that being part of the details I don't recall) and I think the plane went down or it exploded. Joe, Sr set the kids up to be competitive with one another. Jack got a medal, Joe, Jr wanted one too. He couldn't let his younger brother outshine him

Jo and especially Rose were totally opposed to the marriage and the getting married in a Civil Ceremony in a Register Office was the final straw. In effect Kick came to the marriage in the clothes she stood up in. The only Kennedy present was Joe Jnr who was serving in the US military at the time. Sadly the marriage only existed 5 weeks as she was soon widowed. The Cavendishes were (and still are) very wealthy also. At the time, as well as all their land holdings and other property they also had plenty of cash, being involved in international banking and very high level politics. They certainly didn't need (or receive) any cash from the Kennedys.

They did marry despite the religious differences, her being Catholic and him being Church of England, he was killed while serving the RAF, she stayed in England and was volunteering for the British Red Cross when she too was killed.
