  • In this video there will be less talk and more showing, comparing ARMA Reforger to the first game in the Arma series, Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis.
    All music in this video is from Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis.

    It really does seem like there is about as many polygons on a single Enfusion rock as there was on entirety of original Everon's ground layer. Very nice comparison. I wonder if we'll get to see another one in 20 years with similarly radical changes.

    Looks more accurate to the original than I expected, in a good way.

    What I'd love to see is the Operation Flashpoint remastered during Alpha either by BI or the group doing the effort in ARMA currently.

    What a fantastic comparison video! I still have my PC Gamer cover disc from 2001 with the demo on and remember it fondly.
    I was hooked from the demo and its successors (ARMA1,2,3 VBS1,2,3,4) have been a big part of my life for the last 21 years!
    Look forward to more Reforger content on you channel

    The rag doll in the original Operation Flashpoint was amazing! That was one of the key immersive features that got me hooked onto this franchise back in 2001!

    now this is a faithful recreation, this is awesome, also i like how they chose 1989, close to the end of the cold war, but brings on more kinds of equipment, saw the roadmaps and i was hyped, ballistic system, new weapons and scopes, new vehicles and more (i wonder if there will be the VSS Vintorez and AS VAL, since their production was in 1986, a year after Arma Cold War Assault in 1985

    While the new version obviously looks WAY better, its hard to appreciate just how visually ground breaking the original game was at the time. There were very few 3d games and NOTHING on that scale with all the vehicles etc. It was truly amazing for the time.

      I've put some 50 hours into the game now. Most importantly I'd like some SP/COOP content (doesn't have to be a campaign), and secondly proper AI, as they can't even drive. Last but not least, a dedicated mission editor.

    Still trusting Russian developers? How many times are people going to be fleeced with the same garbage they never fixed before. They have never, not once accomplished anything themselves, every major improvement from ARMA 2-3 and now soon to be 4 will be the result of the mod community fixing their pile of trash.
    Escape from Tarkov has had 100 fold the income and experience yet cannot keep the client side manipulation out of their game because they fail so hard at netcoding it's a laugh to almost every person who peeks under the hood of their game.
    Russians should stick to single player games, it's what they are good at. STALKER alone carried them to greatness, there's literally nothing else under their belt I can think of.

      @@rileyschultz5608 Same thing to me, don't really care about the constant back and forth. In 20 years it'll most likely be Russia again anyway. Point still stands, garbage programming from the same typical type of development patterns of those regions.

    • @jasonfenton8250
      @jasonfenton8250 Před 2 lety +4

      Bohemia Interactive is Czech, GSC is Ukrainian, and so is 4A games, the developer of Metro. Battlestate, the devs behind Tarkov apparently are headquartered in London. So none of them are Russian. Also, to say that Arma has not improved over the years is laughable. The original Operation Flashpoint campaign is iconic but so much has improved elsewhere. Graphics, controls, performance, the 3D editor and more. Yes Arma still has problems, some of them are very old problems, but Arma is also more ambitious than 90% of games on the market while operating with less resources than the real AAA studios.
