He used to be homeless. No formal vocal training whatsoever. Just purely inborn talent.

Marcelito is a homeless person before, not educated and he experienced to look for a meal from left overs in fast food chains. The Prayer leads him from unknown into famous. He has no vocal cord lesson and he just been discovered from a television singing contest. I've watched his 1st appearance in a TV show contest,has no any companion. His life story is very touching. We Filipinos very proud for him and he is truly deserves of what he has right now. I always laugh in tears every time I saw the reactions of the vocal coaches in his song. Hahaha! To those people who have doubt in his talent, search his video when he was invited to perform in a dinner of the Royal family somewhere in Europe.

I saw him a few times on AGT recently, and yes, he always sings with both voices. I don’t think the judges fully realized how difficult his doing the two voices really is. Your explanation helped a lot. I have a Masters in piano, and have heard hundreds of singers. Never anything like that!!
Fililinos worldwide are proud of him. He is a treasure of the Philippines that needs to be shared with the world. The expelling act at the end doesn't mean he's tired. He joked his spitting out the female spirit. He is a funny guy. Just don't forget that he's performing live, sitting down, effortlessly and no strain is visible in his face. That:s how good he is. Finally, a vocal coach reaction who doesn't rip him apart with comments about breath control, pitching, vibrato extension etc. The simple fact is Marcelito has never had any form of training, other than what he has learnt himself to do, just by listening and practicing until he has perfected the song to the point that he is happy with it. I would be willing to bet that there are a lot of vocal coaches on CZcams who wish that they were even half as good as Marcelito.

Marcelito is known to sing duet by himself. He is self taught and has no vocal training. He switches from female to male, in split seconds. He is blessed and gifted. He has a unique voice. He is amazing and talented singer.

This kind of female-male duet performance has been around for at least 2 decades in PH. We call it doble-kara (as in "double karaoke"). When I was a kid, there were quite a number of variety show talent contests where the main target is doble-kara. It was sooo viral in the PH back then.
That's between 80's and 90's.

This type of singing is called "Doble kara" in the Philippines. It's a very common category in singing competitions in small towns, provinces, and in the metro. You can google "doble kara singing contest Philippines" and you can find all sorts of videos and tv shows featuring artists like Marcelito. But nobody does it better than him...I think..
He started it and he sure is the best.

I was dissapointed when Marcelito lost the America's Got Talent because of that cocky unfair judge Simon Cowell.
I recently read a certain someone's comment, saying that "rather you lose on AGT, AI, ANTM, or The Voice, than to win that competition, because being a winner to those competition means that you gave up your freedom to the contract." I don't know if it's true or nah.

Years and years ago, there was this Philippine tv network and one of their segment was called "doble kara" which means double face. The contestants were dressed up as half female half male and they sing like Pomoy as they switched sides.

It's hard to fathom how he can do dual voices but a lot of people like voice actors and those in radio broadcast can really change voices but to sing it perfectly and effortlessly is a talent and gift that takes time, voice control and practice. Amazing.

4 years ago when I first heard this I thought it was fake. However,I found it to be authentic. I was shocked and amazed at his switching from feminine to male voices.
The competition between Angelina and Marcelito should prove both an entertaining and competitive observation.
Actually he got to sing in front of Royalties of Spain.. And they were really impressed.. They tend to ignore him at first but when he started switching voices they started to listen.. Thanks for reacting sir.. 😍😍

Thank you for this reaction vid! I just realized I tend to like the reactions of vocal coaches better than from other singers because the latter can be overly critical (maybe they’re jealous?) when it comes to another singer’s technique and focuses on the flaws more than the actual superb talent that they get to see. Meanwhile vocal coaches are more appreciative of what a singer can do with his/her voice and even explains how they are able to do it.
