Not only is Marcelito sitting down, but he is singing in two different languages, English and Italian, NEITHER of which is his native language, Filipino. He is singing this song live, with no studio "gadgets". Incredible. Nice reaction. Also liked your reaction to Dimash (the best singer in the world!)

Filipino's have a unique gift......the gift of mimicry. I spent several years living there in the 90's and saw many bands and singers that would make you do a double check to make sure the original artist was not on stage. The most notable, of course, is Arnel Pineda, who replaced Steve Perry in Journey. He taught himself to mimic Perry's voice and it is virtually indistinguishable from the original.

He is gifted and the really amazing part is he barely speaks English yet he is singing in English and Italian both NOT his native language perfectly. And it's funny you mention how effortlessly he sings and wouldn't be surprised if he texted. There is a video out of him in Dubai singing Despacito in Spanish, again not his native language, and in the middle of this song, still singing he takes a SELFIE!!! This guy is unbelievably talented.

I am from the Philippines but i live in Houston TX for 20 years. california for 10 years. Marcelito Pomoy is very humble. When Simowl gave him "YOU RAISED ME UP" as his final song, he was devastated. F rom his You Tube chanel, he made an announcement for all the Filipinos. " Simon gave me a song that in no way I can sing with two voices. Simon told me not to sing two voices. i really don't understand why I can't sing two voices. Beauty and the Beast was not my final song. It's "YOU RAISED ME UP" What really HURT my feelings is they made it appear that my last song was Beauty and the Beast. if that was my last song, I could have won the contest. Then when all the judges stood up clapping, Heidie yelled "Marcelitoooooo" My friend works for the network and she told me that the judges worked for Simon and for the network. They did not have to vote. India is the winner, period. He should let the public decide. If he did that, Marcelito could have been the winner. Marcelito could talk like a girl.one of his talents. There's a show in the Philippines, VICE GANDA . you could here Marcelito talking like a girl. Of course Filipinos are so angry. Very angry. Simon wanted India to win because of its population. there ae more people using the Internet. China has the biggest population. Reason why the magician won. Simon is a liar. Go to you tube and watch Sharon OSBORNE and Simon's argument. Sharon works for the net work, not for Simon. " Why don't you let the audience know what is going on. I DARE YOU, SIMON. TELL EVERYBODY THE TRUTH." SIMON WAS JUST THERE WANTING SHARON TO STOP. " SHARON, SHARON". THAT'S ALL HE MANAGED TO SAY. YES. BOYCOTT IS THE WORD. ALL FILIPINOS BECAME ONE. AGT and X- FACTOR ARE RIGGED. CELIA HOPPER

Your reaction was priceless! It's my understanding that Marcelito Pomoy taught himself this song by listening to and mimicking a recording. His performance is gorgeous considering that he requires a translator to carry on a conversation in English even though he understands it well but has trouble speaking it. He speaks the Philipino broken english, but being self taught is also singing in English, Italian and Chinese. Possible more by now. He grew up on the streets from age 7, and now is married and a father! His ambition serves him well in whatever he does!

This is the life story of Marcelito Pomoy.
"To give you a background on the life of Marcelito Pomoy.... he was born in Bislig City, Surigao Del Sur province, island of Mindanao, Philippines into a broken family, his mother left the family when he was still at a very tender age of about 6 months old and his father ended up in jail. With no relatives wanting to help, Marcelito had no other choice but to join his father and stay inside the jail for about 2 years.. Eventually one of the prison guards was moved by his plight and took him to his home in the town of Diatagon close to Bislig City and his family provided for his needs while his dad had to continue serving his prison sentence. He left the only home he ever knew when he was roughly 7 years old upon learning they were not his parents and walked the streets of Bislig City in search of his dad whom he really never knew, often going for days hungry, doing whatever odd jobs he can do to be able to buy a piece of bread or scraps of food he could find on the street dumps. He learned to humm and sing himself to sleep. He did so much variety of odd jobs like being a helper in construction sites, mixing cement manually with gravel and water and carrying it to the guys needing to build walls of hollow blocks with cement, etc., selling boiled duck eggs which is a popular delicacy in the Philippines called "Balot" upto the wee hours of dawn, peddling ice cream to earn a few cents, he did fixing the pinballs up in bowling lanes daily, earning about $1 USD so he had food to eat then sleep on street curbs for several years, any job an under 16 year old kid could do Marcelito had done it. In my opinion God was guiding him all these years because he never thought of committing crimes just to be able to survive but work was plentiful for his tender age and he suffered tremendously to be able to eat daily but with Gods' Guiding Hand he made it in life. He would hang around clubs and restaurants while selling any goods he got and watched in amazement at the talent of the singers' performing while he watched from outside the door. He started singing himself and follow the way he sees the singers sing and thru the years he kept on imitating any singer he could watch on other people's TV singing. He was a no read no write kid struggling in life to fend for himself and survived all those years. He worked cleaning chicken pens in huge chicken farms and sang to the chickens while cleaning their pens and it was while singing to his audience of egg laying chickens that he discovered he could sing both a male and female voice when he was about 18 years old. We will never know if the hens produced more eggs while Marcelito was serenading them !!!
He honed his skills on his own without any vocal coach to teach him because he couldn't afford to hire one then and after gaining confidence in singing other artists songs copying exactly the singers breathing pattern, diction, way of delivering their songs, etc. He moved to Manila still doing odd jobs that were available to him. Through the insistence of his new friends at work, he joined a Philippines TV network conducting a singing competition in Manila. He passed the audition and went on to the semi finals and grand finals.. He won the competition hands down despite so many excellent competitors. His monetary prize was such a huge amount to him that he never imagined he would be able to own in his lifetime as an uneducated adult. He signed a record contract with the recording studio arm of the same TV network and the rest is now history. His SUFFERINGS in life I just barely touched on the surface.... You won't be able to watch his CZcams videos about his life story coming from Marcelito Pomoy because he is not comfortable talking in conversational American English. He can sing almost any song in so many different languages with the help of a vocal coach now but talk to him in English, interview him in English and he would need a translator to assist him. He is very rich now in terms of an average Filipino earning a decent living in Manila, he bought a decent home with his earnings from the singing contest and is one of the most sought after performer in the Philippines with concerts in Canada, Dubai, Spain and so many other countries. He married his girlfriend in the Catholic Church and now they have a child to enrich their married blissful life as a family. He was able to reunite his mother, father and siblings but they each have different families now. Marcelito has returned to school to be more confident in his life but it's still a very long way to go for him. He does an excellent job of emulating the diction, way of delivering of the singers he hears and watches. His favorite singer's are Celine Dion and Andre Bocelli and the PRAYER is his most favorite song, according to him, that he said launched his successful singing career. He first listens to each song he wants to sing, following their pronunciation, breathing patterns, etc until he's able to follow them like he did with Celine Dions songs, etc. He also jokingly said in the song THE PRAYER at the very end of the clip where he acted as if he coughed... he wanted to bring out the woman that's in him but did not elaborate any further ... and I would rather not speculate myself !!!!
He is soft spoken and always a happy person to hangout with and decent but really funny jokes are so natural in him albeit often only in the Tagalog or Filipino language.
The one thing that amazes me is that despite the millions of pesos (the Philippines currency ) he earns each year ... he remains as humble as a child and he has not allowed the riches of the world to go thru his head unlike so many people who changed their character when they became wealthy. Only Jesus Christ and Blessed Mother Mary can give Marcelito Pomoy a humble heart with all the success he and his family are now basking in... !!! He also is a natural born comedian, plenty of punchlines albeit mostly in Tagalog, the common dialect in the Philippines but he can imitate the voices of popular local and international personalities like Elvis Presley, Marlon Brando in the godfather movies, etc... and if you close your eyes you'd think the person Marcelito is emulating is present before you.
I hope I have shed some light on Marcelito Pomoy. Let's not forget he still is in his grade school level education but he's getting there. I'm Mr. Briones, from the Philippines, too, like Marcelito is, but I've migrated to Australia living in the beautiful city of Sydney. I'm sorry if I've stepped on the toes of one of your viewers talking about his life story. I wanted to explain further in detail Marcelito Pomoys' life story. God Bless us all.

JHUN BRIONES: Thank you for sharing his story. The value of learning gratitude and wisdom via adversity is priceless, and this is why we are here on earth-to come to access choice because adversity facilitates awareness of opposites. Innately, he passed with flying colors, the greatest and highest educational testing of all, choosing gratitude and blooming-where-he’s-planted instead of life-diminishing resentment or counterproductive behavior. This means he has listened to the Light of Christ within him (a Christlike conscience). All of the other education is nuts and bolts compared to this. His humility, resourcefulness and integrity are life-saving, and he will be blessed for his positive attitude despite his challenges. As Mother Eve understood, we cannot come to our free agency and make choices until we first experience opposition, and yet, freedom is prerequisite to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He went through great trials, and no doubt, pressing forward and not giving up or giving in to life-diminishing codependency is surely preparing him for some calling greater than he yet knows. He is an inspiration. I am from the USA, but was an LDS missionary in the PI in 1980-82. I saw many struggles. It is easy to assume that monetary wealth makes a person, but in truth, it is with what attitude we overcome adversity that makes a person, and each person on earth getter’s an equal share of this challenges while we are here on earth. Some suffer it in unexpected ways, for instance, one who has great wealth may suffer the temptation to waste, abuse their power or advantage, or neglect important principles of truth and integrity or neglect love and services toward others. Being past feeling is an adversity. Marcelito Pomoy has been preserved and watched over by guardian angels he doesn’t even as yet know about, but after this life, he will meet them again, because they are his own progenitors/ancestors. Many if us feel alone, but we must consciously remember, on purpose, that we are not alone, and never were. Still, a child that young going through these things-it makes me wonder, where were his earthly fellowmen when he was very small? Thank goodness for the few who did step in, and thank goodness for our guardian family members on the other side of the Veil. Ultimately, Marcelito’s mission on earth will reveal amazing things, especially about how family is healed. We cannot move progress ahead of their progress-path, but we can be patient while we protect our own boundaries of safety. Marcelito has a giant spirit in there and I am truly grateful to have been inspired not only by his talents, but by his high achievement of integrity. I myself feeling grateful to Mr. Pomoy, and as one fellow human being, blessed by his positive choices and talent for vaulting the hurdles of life without allowing them to take him down, honor him with an Honorary Graduate Degree in mastering with tenacity and endurance, the Practice Of Matching The Refiner’s Fire at all costs. I don’t know that I could have battled the battle that he has contagiously braved. His strength gives me strength and that is a true gift. Thank you, Marcelito!

His name is pronounced Mar-cell-e-toe Pom-oy, he lived on the streets in the Phillipines, and had no formal training. He did this song written by David Foster for Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli, live on the talent show in the Phillipines. He’s got other songs on here, he’s an awesome singer. Considering he was singing in both English and Italian and neither is his native language. Loved your reaction to him.

He’s singing in “Counter Tenor “ & then baritone. Perfect diction in Italian. Yes it’s amazing that he can effortlessly go from one voice to the next. He was never professionally trained. Listen to him on AGT & post your thoughts. When he turned his head at the end he was spitting out Celine’s voice as he was teased by the engineers of the station.

Philippines has an abundance of talented singers and his talent is just one that should be seen and heard the world over. he was featured by ellen degeneres in her show and you would be surprised to know that he was just self taught as he was dirt poor living in the streets. if you haven't seen yet bugoy drillon, another filipino singer, then check out his true colors and/or one day covers (from wish 107.5 bus again. please note that all performances in the said radio bus station are live, not prerecorded or autotuned.

Yes it is live and just one take. If you can't call it *great talent* i don't know what it is.
