His style is crossover...neoclassical or popera. Dimash is 24 years old and is from Kazakhstan. In this video he was performing in Singer 2017, a tv show in China for professional singers. He was invited as a wild card, and was the first person to sing on the show ( since he was competing against established, very popular Chinese and Asian singers and was not expected to do well). He gained instant popularity in China with this song and has over 6 million followers in China, plus many fans in other countries. He speaks Kazakh and Russian fluently, but sings in many different languages, composes music, and is a multi instrumentalist. Very talented but humble guy. Love him!

The biggest problem is that after all this time he is still just a curiosity more than a world-class singer. OFC Dimash is a great vocalist, probably the best, he has a great personality and a great work ethic, but how many people have his songs in their playlists? Did anyone see him in any charts? Some of the greatest singers could not even sing, Bod Dillan for example. TDimash is way too technical, almost every his song is showing off, which is sad. He has the tool to be the greatest singer, but he is not using it properly.

He's got a comfortable zone, he's the only one who nows whether his tessitura is. It sounds like he's most likely baritone. Bear in mind the names baritone tenor etc, don't denote the range, they denote the comfortable place of the voice, like if he were to just hum out a note without thinking I feel it would likely be in that baritone area because of the speaking effort, really good technique can give you a massive range though. Just look at someone like Cedric Bixler-Zavalaz, he's just a tenor but it doesn't stop his range from having baritone notes as well as soprano notes.
I find that baritones make the best sopranos. Think of Chanticleer, these men routinely sing in soprano range, and it's the natural baritones that most often take the soprano voice.
'The Singer' is a Chinese contest for professional singers, Dimash entered this contest in 2017, it was called 'Singer 2017' unknown to anybody he won the second place and he even did not speak the Chinese language at the time. Hi. Dimash is professional singer/performer. He educated as such. So i guess he had training in classical as well as pop singing. Plus if im correct he was high soprano in choir and after vocal break kept his soprano register and worked on it and still do. Nice reaction. Thanks.

So, this performance was in a chinese TV show "The Singer", it's a contest between professional singers, already known, he was the only one unknown (he's from Kazakhstan, and he was 22 at this time) he became a big star in China with this show. The people you see in the room are his contestants. There is 13 performances of him in this show, every perf' is really good. ^^ Yes he has classical training but he likes to mix the styles. He began singing and piano lessons at 5. Ha has absolute hearing, and vocal cords longer than normal (it makes some things easier for what I understood, but I don't know exactly what or why...), his parents are singers too... This is not show, this is a song contest among established singers called as "I am a Singer" in China. He was the youngest contestant in the history of this show. He is from Kazakhstan and at that time he was 22 y.o.
Thanks to this song i now know French a lot better and i learned about the genius song writer who was ahead of his time with such meaningful and beautiful lyrics done so long ago. Tragically he died at a young age while trying to do some good for humanity.

Singing high is one thing. But most scariest thing is his control of his pace and volume. His timing of changing rhythm is perfect. Dimash mixed opera with pop when he sing this song. 😂 (as you can see why some of his fans called him alien from different orbit. Cause he’s too perfect, too ingenious.)

This Voice in China contest is for Chinese performers only. A foreigner had never been there before. Dimash was invited by the organizers to participate and long negotiations took place. Eventually, he got a wild card to start, but without the possibility of taking first place. In the video, we see Dimash standing on the first day of the competition as the first performer in front of an audience of 500, who are also jurors. Everyone is waiting in suspense for his performance, because they do not know each other.
This is just the beginning of the Dimash journey. I highly recommend listening (and reacting) to more of his songs. He brings the wow factor every time! He’s classically trained but is known for his blend of a ton of different genres and singing techniques from around the world. Pop, rock, opera, RnB, etc etc. He does it all! you should do a reaction to his rendition of “all by myself” or “sinful passion” to see what we mean.

Both his parents are fairly well known singers in his home country, Kazakhstan. I'm sure there is some genetic luck going on. He also had classical music training from the time he was 5 years old. They were able to help him preserve some of his prepubescent range. He has a little over a 6 octave range F2-E8. I really like his performance of the song Sinful Passion on his own channel. It's more recent and he does some things in that song that I've never heard before.

The genre has two nicknames - Popera or Operock I see my fellow Dears have already posted some educational stuff, so I will just add my voice to the ones saying he is the best. Enjoy your journey in Dimashstan - every performance has a new "Wow" surprise. On the "dislikes" - Some are legit (IMO guys who are insecure about their masculinity who do not like any guy who ever sounds like a girl)... there is a tiny number of people who like Vitas and decided hating Dimash was a way of liking Vitas. Hi Chris, Awesome reaction to Dimash, thank you. Others have told you about him below, the Chinese competition "Singer" is by invite only and usually professional/ established artists as someone below said he was invited as the wildcard because of success in his own country Kazakhstan and other Slavic countries. He was totally unknown to the producers and the Chinese audience (who act as the judges aech week) even his fellow competitors had not been allowed to see him rehearse, hence the surprise on their faces in the green room. He was the youngest ever competitor ever at 22yrs old (he turned 23 just after the show ended) He started music school at 4yrs old learning piano and singing, moved onto college, then university. His mentors wanted him to concentrate on opera and he was offered a place with Kazakh opera but chose to concentrate on his genre he calls "Popera". I hope you react to more Dimash, his journey through "Singer 2017" will amaze you and he has done lots and lots since. His latest performance was at the "Hainan International Film Festival" last Tues 11th and he his performing at the "Silk Road" festival this coming weekend. 👌👌😊

He's got a comfortable zone, he's the only one who nows whether his tessitura is. It sounds like he's most likely baritone. Bear in mind the names baritone tenor etc, don't denote the range, they denote the comfortable place of the voice, like if he were to just hum out a note without thinking I feel it would likely be in that baritone area because of the speaking effort, really good technique can give you a massive range though. Just look at someone like Cedric Bixler-Zavalaz, he's just a tenor but it doesn't stop his range from having baritone notes as well as soprano notes.
I find that baritones make the best sopranos. Think of Chanticleer, these men routinely sing in soprano range, and it's the natural baritones that most often take the soprano voice.
'The Singer' is a Chinese contest for professional singers, Dimash entered this contest in 2017, it was called 'Singer 2017' unknown to anybody he won the second place and he even did not speak the Chinese language at the time. You are right he was a trained professional opera singer from an earlier age. Dimash is an amazing singer, every song he performed on this contest require attention to understand how talanted he is. If you interested, please do continue 'Singer 2017' for next episode. You also can check 'Singer 2018' and at this time Dimash was invited as a guest where he performed Lionel Richie's song called 'Hello' but he remade this song his way and you have got to hear it.
Also, on the same ' Singer 2018', was another equally amazing talent and his name is Hua Chenyu, he is a Chinese singer. Hua Chenyu can sing opera, rock, rap and he can compose his songs. He also can remake the song in 24 hours. He is very unique, I never saw anything like him.

Hi. Dimash is professional singer/performer. He educated as such. So i guess he had training in classical as well as pop singing. Plus if im correct he was high soprano in choir and after vocal break kept his soprano register and worked on it and still do. Nice reaction. Thanks.

So, this performance was in a chinese TV show "The Singer", it's a contest between professional singers, already known, he was the only one unknown (he's from Kazakhstan, and he was 22 at this time) he became a big star in China with this show. The people you see in the room are his contestants. There is 13 performances of him in this show, every perf' is really good. ^^
Yes he has classical training but he likes to mix the styles. He began singing and piano lessons at 5. Ha has absolute hearing, and vocal cords longer than normal (it makes some things easier for what I understood, but I don't know exactly what or why...), his parents are singers too...
Oh by the way, the part you played again, it's in mix voice, he has a big range, he can go lower and higher in every register...

Warto też posłuchać akustycznych wykonań i wykonań koncertowych jak If I Ever Breathe Again z Londynu czy Daybreak z Bastau. Dimash ogromną wagę przywiązuje do występowania na żywo, jednak zdarza się, że zarzuca mu się playback. By udowodnić, że tego nie robi, czasem stosuje na przykład ruchy mikrofonem, które przerywają śpiew. Osobiście lubię też krótki film dokumentalny o nim, Born to sing. This is not show, this is a song contest among established singers called as "I am a Singer" in China. He was the youngest contestant in the history of this show. He is from Kazakhstan and at that time he was 22 y.o.
Thanks to this song i now know French a lot better and i learned about the genius song writer who was ahead of his time with such meaningful and beautiful lyrics done so long ago. Tragically he died at a young age while trying to do some good for humanity.

This Voice in China contest is for Chinese performers only. A foreigner had never been there before. Dimash was invited by the organizers to participate and long negotiations took place. Eventually, he got a wild card to start, but without the possibility of taking first place. In the video, we see Dimash standing on the first day of the competition as the first performer in front of an audience of 500, who are also jurors. Everyone is waiting in suspense for his performance, because they do not know each other.
This is just the beginning of the Dimash journey. I highly recommend listening (and reacting) to more of his songs. He brings the wow factor every time! If you like rock, check out Dimash's version of Queen's song, The Show Must Go On. I think even Freddie would have been impressed! Looking forward to more reactions of Dimash. :)

He’s classically trained but is known for his blend of a ton of different genres and singing techniques from around the world. Pop, rock, opera, RnB, etc etc. He does it all! you should do a reaction to his rendition of “all by myself” or “sinful passion” to see what we mean.

Both his parents are fairly well known singers in his home country, Kazakhstan. I'm sure there is some genetic luck going on. He also had classical music training from the time he was 5 years old. They were able to help him preserve some of his prepubescent range. He has a little over a 6 octave range F2-E8.
I really like his performance of the song Sinful Passion on his own channel. It's more recent and he does some things in that song that I've never heard before.

The genre has two nicknames - Popera or Operock I see my fellow Dears have already posted some educational stuff, so I will just add my voice to the ones saying he is the best. Enjoy your journey in Dimashstan - every performance has a new "Wow" surprise. On the "dislikes" - Some are legit (IMO guys who are insecure about their masculinity who do not like any guy who ever sounds like a girl)... there is a tiny number of people who like Vitas and decided hating Dimash was a way of liking Vitas. I say there is room in the world for many, many singers of all types. IMO Dimash is the best. DKIFC/USA
Hi Chris, Awesome reaction to Dimash, thank you. Others have told you about him below, the Chinese competition "Singer" is by invite only and usually professional/ established artists as someone below said he was invited as the wildcard because of success in his own country Kazakhstan and other Slavic countries. He was totally unknown to the producers and the Chinese audience (who act as the judges aech week) even his fellow competitors had not been allowed to see him rehearse, hence the surprise on their faces in the green room. He was the youngest ever competitor ever at 22yrs old (he turned 23 just after the show ended) He started music school at 4yrs old learning piano and singing, moved onto college, then university. His mentors wanted him to concentrate on opera and he was offered a place with Kazakh opera but chose to concentrate on his genre he calls "Popera". I hope you react to more Dimash, his journey through "Singer 2017" will amaze you and he has done lots and lots since. His latest performance was at the "Hainan International Film Festival" last Tues 11th and he his performing at the "Silk Road" festival this coming weekend. 👌👌😊
